I am a complete newbie.
« on: September 03, 2012, 03:25:44 pm »

I'm just fiddling around with the arena at the moment, though.

Is there any way to basically be a god of the DF world? Like, be the ultimate Dungeon Master?

Howdy, I'm pretty new too. When I play, I keep the DF wiki up at all times, and if all else fails; consult the forums, there are a bunch of people on here more than willing to answer any stupid questions (I know this by experience, I've asked a fuckton of questions on here)

Yep, me too.  There's only so much search can do.  Attempt to simply read the wiki before asking and that helps avoid "read the wiki" responses.  I'm considering adding some toes of things I've ound myself and had answered whe. Te wiki was not quite clear enough for my liking.

Soon I will build my first magma forge and will then begin steel production.

Can't wait.

Alright then.

Is it possible to create Forgotten Beasts/clowns in the Testing Arena?

The implication here is that I want to control the abomination, bleheheheheh

I've had some pretty good experience with the arena, and I think everythings pretty set in stone, so if you can spawn them, they'll be the same kind of FB or clown. I know this because I made an army of werebeast dragons fight one godly dwarf and the dwarf won because they were werefoxes -.-

****EDIT****
Also I forgot to mention, check out captainduck's tutorials on youtube, they're pretty good if you follow them after the first part (first is extraction + worldgen). Don't forget to do DF2012 for his videos, 40d isn't the best thing to look at when you're using DF2012, especially for military.

All else fails, ask us here at the fourms. Some people will say check the wiki, but if I'll awnser without checking wiki, I'll help. Else, I'll say nothing. Good luck to ya and go slaughter a puppy for me! 8)

Crap.

I was hoping that I could rampage as a bizarre mutant thing that I'd come up with later. Ah well, maybe that's the next update.

Whether you can be a bizarre mutant thing that you come up with later, is a different question.  That you can do.

I think you'll find much bigger indestructable forces of armegeddon in DF... For example: zombie giant sperm whale

Or, berserk dwarf.
Or, better yet, berserk militia commander in masterwork steel gear.

So. Titans, forgotten beasts and clowns seem to be unspawnable in the testing arena. Bugger. Oh well, at least I can take the wheel of megabeasts.
