A quick check: I assume exoskeleton armour gives better protection against a standard round than heavy armour?

Have Mike dock the A7. Cut open the door to the crew quarters. See if you can get the Life Support to refill the room once the ship has docked. Presumably there's a control for that in the air lock. Whilst doing that, try and find out if anyone is on the other side of the air lock.

...Figure out if anyone is on the other side after opening it? Do I misunderstand you?

I'll rephrase. The door is part of an airlock. I read this as, essentially, a pair of doors. We cut through one, then check if anyone's on the other side of the other one.

((Do you want me to open the airlock, or the crew quarters? Not exactly clear which goes first.))

Oh sorry, I read it as there being an airlock to the crew quarters. Am I wrong?

Ah, I see what you're trying to do now.

Is there a door here, an airlock, then a door to the quarters, or are we in the airlock already?

((No, you weren't, but I had assumed you all interpreted the airlock and crew quarters separately, so I was going with the flow.

Opening the crew quarters.

Currently, outside of the airlock in the docking bay. One door of the airlock is open, and the door furthest from you is still closed, leading to a dark room.))

"Can you open the airlock?" You ask, to which Lilith nods, stepping forward with her favorite tool. She bores a hole in the door with a blowtorch, a loud snapping noise is heard, and the inner door slides open, leaving just the outer one. She steps back, allowing you to take a look through a tiny window, but the room beyond is pitch black. You can see some shapes in the darkness that might be beds, but you are not sure.

You activate a flashlight upon your helmet, but the glass reflects the light, rendering you pretty much blind. You have no idea what lies beyond.

Turn off the flashlight and see if there's some way to turn on the ship's lights. Maybe a light switch or a friendly AI or something?

You turn off the flashlight, and turn around. "Look for... a light switch or something." You say. After a few seconds, Gordon points to a small control panel where he's standing. "This might work."

You step forward. tapping on the pad, but to no avail. "Damn thing is busted. Probably because of no electricity."

"Then how is this room lit?" Reg asks.

"I'll bet that it's only the electricity through that airlock to the cockpit. The engine generates it, so this room and the engine are likely lit." Lilith says. "The lights are running on reserve power, though, since the engine is busted."

No lights. You are going to be walking into what might be an ambush, in the dark.

"Is there an AI?" You ask.

"No. Only flagships and cruisers would have AI... this ship doesn't need it." Lilith says.

No lights from here on out, you will have to watch yourself. What do you do?

Ask Lilith if she knows where the engine room, bridge, or other lit rooms would be.

You ask Lilith.

"Engine room is behind us, along with a cargo bay, most likely.
Ahead of us would be the bridge, and it might be lit, it could have a small generator in case of emergencies. No guarantees, but until then, everything is going to be black as night." Lilith responds.

Ask Lilith if she thinks we could restart the engine to turn on the lights. The marines here know the terrain, an ambush would be in their advantage.

"There is no way we are getting the engine on this ship to run the lights. Or anything, ever again. Didn't you see it when we flew in?" She said condescendingly. "We could try to hook up the A7's output to this ship, but there are a few problems with this. The A7 will take a long time to re-energize if we need to fly off in a hurry, and we cannot light the entire ship at once. We could manage to dimly light a single room at a time, at best."

It seems like a viable plan. What do you do?
