Why? Shouldn't we at least wait to hear the answers to my questions?

You look about the E5, armed with an A-Team mindset. What could you do to increase the performance?

Well, you could tack on some reflective armor, which is very useful against dealing with the Kapell's lasers, which would cost around 500 for the materials alone, three times that, (1500) if you paid a real mechanic.

You could add some Tungsten Gatling's to the sides, providing gunner positions for your crew to man while inside the atmosphere. It could cost 200 credits, around 800 if you wanted someone else to tack it on.

You also figure you could do some upgrades to the engine, making it marginally faster, and certainly more durable with 800 credits. Twice that, if you want it installed.

Dreams of jury-rigging this craft, turning it into the battle-bus of it's era excites you, but not so much as the raw speed and power of the A7.

You could remove the turrets on the A7, with the weapons, ammunition, and other facilities needed to manage them could leave you with three mercs able to ride. It worries you, because it definitely WILL be dangerous, for those will be weak areas of the ship. Whoever sits there might not make it back if the ship comes under fire. You theorize the A7 will actually move faster, however.

To get some armor to replace the turret places would cost around 600 for the materials alone. 1500 to install with third party help.

((Just to clarify, to upgrade the ships you can either buy the materials alone, and leave it to your resident mechanic to tack it on, or pay more, and have a real, professional mechanic tack it on.

Also, A7 has 2 votes, so technically, I guess it wins out. If you want to change your vote for the E5, do it now.

If you want to continue with the A7, decide whether or not you want the upgrade.))

Wait, we'd need to remove the weapons to get enough room to put all our mercs inside?

We only have three maybe 4 people we want to bring with us each mission anyhow.  Besides, a smaller strike team is going to have the best missions.  Behind enemy lines killing important people.  A large team will just get us turned into a meat paste product.

You would only be removing Laser turrets on top and bottom.

You still have some heavy Gauss cannons on the front, able to do a good amount of damage.

Yup, less space is not a problem for now, especially if we leave the mechanic behind. Take the A7, don't remove the weaponry.

We have five mercs, plus ourself. Anyways, if all 5-6 can pull their own weight and then some, more hands make the lead fall lighter. (More people means each of us is being fired at less, and our enemies are getting fired at more, which means that our advantage would only increase, probably exponentially, as the battle wore on.)

Well, since I seem to be losing anyhow...wait, laser cannons need ammunition?

Meh, I'll concede. Take the A7, do what you want with the weaponry. We can always get another ship later.

They're powered by something, I'd assume. Ammunition probably would come in the form of gigantic-ass batteries.

------------------

You buy the A7, happy with your purchase, but you wince at how empty your wallet now feels.

No matter, the missions you can pull off in this thing will pay off in due time.

You, take your new team and A7 back to base, and while your team is getting comfortable in their barracks, you notice you have a a few messages from the Highlander Confederation.

Apparently, a large Sol frigate was knocked out of commission by some fighters, but there are no nearby boarding craft to take it over. It is still in good condition, with only a few holes in the hull, the engines badly damaged, and most weapons knocked out. They want you to infiltrate the craft, and establish control. Risk is low, since it has only a poorly armed marine force of 7 aboard. Payment is 4000 credits.

The Highlander Confederation also wants you scout out one of their space stations that has recently lost radio contact. They have no idea what the threat is, and the station is relatively large, holding over five hundred personnel, of which, 25 were marines selected for boarding defense. They want you to enter the station, figure out why it went black, who attacked it, and if you can secure the communications again, you get a bonus of 2000. Danger is likely extremely high, due to no information, so the payment is high also. 7000 credits.

If you choose one mission, the Highlanders will assign troops to accomplish the other, so choose wisely.

Let's investigate the space station.

There's probably some friendlies alive, who can give us intel and perhaps fire support. Also, the frigate thingy has us outnumbered for sure, while the space station leaves us with potentially ~30 people total that we would be able to count on, plus some civilians. Plus, almost double the pay!

"Reg, Lilith, Gordon, time to suit up, we're going to go take over a freighter."  you say, prepping for mission and getting in the A7.

Why?
Next time, can you save us both some effort and just explain why in your post like I do?

((I don't know which outcome I should choose.

Everyone wants the opposite thing.

I'm going to call a vote: Do you want outcomes decided by first poster, or by a majority vote?
If majority vote, do you want a coin flip to decide when a outcome is split 50/50?

This is my first time, and confusing as hell, because I have one vote for freighter, and one for station.

I also don't want to make it seem like I'm railroading, so I'm wary here.))

((These games are typically decided by majority vote.  Although here is usually railroading in the sense that stupid stuff usually has the character do something like "I would jump off that bridge. . . if I was amazingly dumb."))

The problem is, there's only two people frequenting this one right now, and we don't seem to agree.

Why do you think we should recapture the freighter?
