Having a baby and her mother killed in an ambush? Sad.

Having the militia mop the floor with that ambush, with no casualties and only a few injuries? Almost makes up for it.

-Watching a dwarf go to sleep in the heat of battle. They always manage to make it out unscathed, somehow.

-Unexpected badassery. For example, earlier today I had my melee squad fighting off an ogre thrall. One swordsdwarf got his arm ripped off. He could've given into pain and passed out. He could've run to the hospital. But no, he walked it off and charged right back into battle a few seconds later, driving the ogre onto the cage traps. Never did seek medical treatment.

Certainly you could argue that DF is a lot like The Sims, only... you know... with more vomit and decapitation.
If you launch a wooden mine cart towards the ocean at a sufficient speed, you can have your entire dwarf sail away in an ark.

The newest and by far favorite moment so far: rabbits turn into killing machines at the type of a single word.

I would love to see that.

For me? It's the moment when a child grows into a peasant (if you manage to ignore one long enough to let this occur...). All of a sudden, there's just so much potential! What shall he grow to become?

What's wrong with using magma? That's almost always the easiest method.
I have issues channeling it properly to do that method. I end up flooding the fortress with magma.

1)i said stun-lock. not stunned big difference
2)heres the game log 3)heres a sample
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
note this is arena testing with me as the colossus here is what this stun lock is. GCS shoots web colossus is immobile for 3-5 turns its not stunned its unable to move. as the C is unable to move now his attacks turns are skipped the GCS shoots web again since the shoot webbing power recharges in 3 turns the GCS spams it since its bite is ineffective. this is a stun-lock

It's quite easy: go into RAW>OBJECTS>CREATURE_DOMESTIC and look for rabbits on the list, type [TRAINABLE] somewhere in their entry and then gen a new world. The rabbits should be war/hunting trainable from now on.

I have to say, I agree with "dwarven stupidity" making me smile  :)

Was trying to wall off a section of the cavern but the last part of the wall kept being canceled due to "creature blocking construction" or something like that. Turns out the mason was trying to stand where the wall was meant to be built, while he was building this. I face-palmed and giggled.

When a kid died by apparently jumping off a waterfall ... and upon further inspection finding out he is an "Ardent worshiper of Nig" ... who it turns out is the god of suicide.
