I think I'm addicted to this game.

1. Selecting a whole line of flooring for removal. Normally its good practice to do every other one first but usually it doesn't matter. Right now I am watching a line of six children right next to each other, every single one standing on a floor tile the kid next to him is removing.

2. Seeing that stray black bear gnawing fruitlessly on the iron helmet of a unconscience goblin for pages of report.

3. I was setting up a fortress today on a tundra volcano peak and found out the hard way there is an aquifer in the top few levels of the peak somehow by digging up. My newly dug out future trade depot, entry hall, dining hall and 5 z levels of ramp get flooded promptly. Realizing that the dwarfs would now naturally use the flooded ramp as a water source is pretty amusing. I solved a problem I didn't even anticipate.

The moment I realized I lost my commander to a camel.

I just love it when I get to explode things. Proper, lever induced explosions.

I relish on slow deaths due to disease or venom.

Dwarven stupidity is sometimes oddly cathartic... like the hunter who decided he'd take a nap right next to a rattlesnake he just pissed off. Unsurprisingly, a while later said hunter is lying in hospital all miserable with a lovely purple cloud wafting from his face.

Also, tamed snakes and War Grizzly Bears set upon thieves. Especially the baby snatcher who got a load of rattlesnake venom in his eye.

I just love the way burning dwarves carry on their businesses as if nothing unusual has happened.

Coins, I usually make coin production facilities whenever I can.
It is interesting how each material has each their own images engraved on these coins.
And each year new coins have new images?

All from my current fort:

When I activated my drowning trap for the first time, drowning the elven merchants and preserving the trade goods - including a giant python (which totally ripped up an attack of giant grey langurs).
When my military sallied forth and slaughtered a pair of goblin squads with very few losses. When I got a legendary engraver in a strange mood.

The weregopher who attacked my fort yesterday.  He promptly went back to human form, but it was on like Donkey Kong.  Cue Yakkety Sax music with my military and the fort's pet coyote chasing him everywhere.

Moments that make me smile in DF include the following:
Seeing a creature get horribly maimed in a disk trap.
Any time an artifact is made (with exceptions being blowguns and other tough to utilize artifacts).
Hitting the Raw adamantine!
Getting an easy mandate like chair ban or 2 leggings of any type.

In my first year, I got a migrant wave with a Great metalsmith.  Great furnace operator, great weapon/armorsmith, everything. awesome.
