Theres always a fun breaking flaw in a zombie game. Therefore those games either are brain-cell murdering redicolously simple shooters or stupid blurry graphics shit that never made out of pre-alpha.

There is also Cataclysm, a zombie apocalypse RL, as well as a metric ton of flash games. Zombies have been the new 'it thing' for almost a year now since their behavior is so easy to code.

A year?! Try since at least the first Resident Evil movie 10 years ago. Zombies were a "once every couple years" thing before that.

Cataclysm is fun but certainly not all zombie. There's a lot more to it.

I do actually like Dead Rising and find its sequel to be the weaker of the two.

Probably because while Dead Rising was a message about our affluent and uncaring lifestyle... Dead Rising 2 was about celebritism and nothing else.

In otherwords Dead Rising 2 was more shallow and felt even more disconnected.

I'm not a fan of most games in the zombie setting because I believe that zombies should be a vehicle for conflict between survivors and against the environment itself (i.e. hunger, dehydration, disease), so YMMV.

However, I did enjoy the heck out of DayZ because it's the only zombie game I've played that actually makes survivors the primary obstacle.

Rogue Survivor, especially for new players, often has food being your biggest worry. Unfortunately, it was still too in-your-face mega-zombies for my taste.

I wont recommend Day Z at the moment. Especially not buying Arma for it when a standalone is in the works.

Urban dead is a ok  it pretty old but there still people playing it I used to be in the RRF the big zombie group. http://www.urbandead.com/

Rogue Survivor, especially for new players, often has food being your biggest worry. Unfortunately, it was still too in-your-face mega-zombies for my taste.

There's in recent versions a gametype "Vintage Zombies" that remove the "mega zombies" and other demons things, so you can play strictly a zombies and humans survival game if you want.
