OK, it's late spring in Zulashnisgak (Painfrost), and after 3 visits of uninvited guests that couldn't reach my fortress I decide there was no room for more than one ruler on the underground. I prepare my men and send them to be stationed on the passage that was about to be opened by the miners. After the last piece of the wall is on the ground, they stay there, but nothing happens. Apparently the monster decided it was time to take a bath, and didn't leave from the depths of the underground lake. So i start to drain the entire lake, and after that I finally feel the excitement of being able to face such a creature (my first forgotten beast), known for the destruction it caused. So I send my man to attack, still with fear about the results that could come from such a battle. And thats the result:

So yeah, the next time someone comments about the powers of the crossbow .50 barrett I think I will no longer discuss, lol...

They can be anywhere from trivial to totally overwhelming. Just wait 'til you get one with syndrome dust or made out of rock.

Or both! Or one with webs made of gem! Nightmare I tell you. Required my entire military to throw themselves at him simultanueusly. But it got overwhelmed quickly by the 55+ Heavily armed and trained dwarves, so it went down pretty well.

The first titan I ever faced had me worried to death that it would massacre my entire fort, pretty much same thing happened to me, only it wasn't a crossbow, it was a regular once-kobold's bow that my only marksdwarf used, he shot it in the lower body and cut it in half in one shot. It was made of steam.

I had my second FB come to the fort and I thought about taking one on, when I realized that one had stopped showing on the screen.  I had forgotten to disable hunting and a hunter zapped the steam thing in half
I looked for it for like 2 minutes before realizing it turned into a tiny little puddle -- bye bye steam FB.

The caverns must've been some awesome sauna when that thing was alive. Up until you suffocated, but really, that's a minor detail.
