If you had to choose between these two scenarios, which would you rather the future of humanity be?

Defenseless slave race, always inservice to others, but not having any enemies in particular.
Humans relentlessly conquer the galaxy, inspiring fear and hatred amongst all those which encounter us.

The situation is explained in the poll questions. Opinions? Thoughts? I shall refrain from explicitly stating my opinion, so as not to taint the results.

That would depend on the type of servitude. Backbreaking manual labor, husbandry, and being shot when we break our hooves ankles? Conquering. Helping some other race out by doing odd jobs and paying some tribute? Fine by me.

1. Sentient alien life is a rarity in spehss. Protect and observe.
2. Sentient alien life is common in spehss. Annihilate to establish humanity trope. RAWR.

But seriously those are 2 really bad options :|

Can we have a 'make friends and space-daisychains with our newfound friends' option?  :P

Is it really that difficult of a choice? I'd rather we be the ones raping and pillaging the cosmos, if anyone's going to be doing it. I mean, seriously; Humanity has experience. No way would the ETs be able to pull it off right.

Generally, when one is conducting an experiment, it is worth noting that the observers went insane, killed each other, and then rose from the dead.
It's like DF inhaled a peanut.

Magmachains are difficult, as they would require us cracking open the planet like an egg to do properly.

But back on topic, I suppose that a lack of additional options does leave a pretty clear distinction between the two extant ones - depending on the magnitudes.

Exactly! We should do it the dwarven way:

1. Clear cut entire planet
2. Farm and fish it until all life is depleted.
3. Strip mine it until are mineral wealth has been raped from it.
4. Use leftovers to train slave legions to perpetuate our conquests.
5. ? ? ?
6. Profit!

Doesn't make much of a difference either way for me. Either option would leave me sufficiently pissed off enough to continue wasting my time doing everything in my power to change the way things work. Though I guess I'd prefer working to liberate humanity from slavery over trying to subdue it's endless lust for power.

I refuse to bow to xeno scum. The Emperor's Hammer will be there to ensure that no human life will fall prey to alien ambitions.

Any statement that would suggest otherwise is deeply heretical and will be punished accordingly.

DF Players never truly leave.  They just abandon the fortress for a few years and then reclaim.

Too narrow of options.  However if I had to pick either of them, it would be 2.  Who knows, maybe after the Assumed ruler of the universe dies we'll stop being such conquer-happy bastards and we'll actually start making peace.  While taking the useless but livable planets for ourselves.

These options are not favorable however if I had to pick I'd probably pick the relentless conquering because wh40k.
