???

From "Interesting Times". Not going to go into plot details, but urinating dog (or a pictograph that looks a bit like one) is the equivalent of an exclamation mark in one of the languages on the Disc.

I'm... vaguely optimistic that this might be entertaining. Discworld stuff on television tends to suck a bit and not do the novels justice, or just plain not work on television, but we'll see how it goes.
What discworld stuff has there been already?

Personally, I thought Going Postal was OK. That and Making Money.

I'm pretty sure Color of Magic is a very very old book that is, indeed ,"shite" to some people, since he wasn't as experienced in Discworld then... The Grim Reaper series is pretty meh to me, though with some good points. Like the Death of Rats.

OOOH, YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT TV SHOWS Never mind my post, move along.

Well, I found the trailer for The Color of Magic. That does, indeed, look pretty shite.

We're talking about the movie adaptations of the books. If anyone here thought the Color of Magic was shite... well, they probably didn't click on this thread.

I'm kind of hoping the stories won't be from the books, just the setting and characters.

Something new instead of just adapted.

He hadn't really established his style and what he wanted to do when writing Colour of Magic.  I think he said he switched towards his current direction in Mort.

This is great news, as night watch was the best of the books. Really hope this does not sink to garbage quality. Be nice to see vimes and that mountain moving wife of his.
Hope they do not copy csi miami, the worst of the whole lot.

No human could, in good conscience, call a show "CSI: Ankh-Morpork" or "CSI: Minas Tirith" or whatever, and actually have more than a few passing CSI references.

You know what would be absolutely hilarious? if they did cast Hugh Laurie as Vimes, and then cast Stephen Fry as Willikins.

Hmmm, cautiously optimistic...

They should get the people that did the animated adaptions of Soul Music and Wyrd Sisters; those actually turned out all right relative to the source material. Unlike the godawful live-action stuff.
