Kay, so after that.... parade shall we say, let's go get this comedy of horrors done with with the wierd polyp mouth things near mouth city. If I'm lucky it'll just take me back to mouth city and I can immediately leave. If not, well new area! After that I have some theories to follow up on.
Onward! The flashy mouth appears on the TV this time. A good sign to be certain.
I find it interesting that the neon area, one of the "happier" areas, leads to one of the more traumatic events in the game. It even goes through a little path that makes a heart to get there. Curious. Might be misreading the heart thing, since sabitsuki appears to be coughing up blood. Maybe a heart disorder is causing it? Iunno, that might be stretching it.
I head through blood hell, I find out there are quite a few rust monster in disguise girls here. Trivial note.
I've hit the meat cave and I admit I'm getting a tad apprehensive. It's never stopped me before though. Only lagged me. I notice that in the meat cave, the heartbeat in the background has two secondary noises afterwords, after the normal beat, which I BELIEVE is a sign of a bad heart. Maybe my heart disease guess wasn't so far off. Admittantly I'm not sure if there are any heart diseases that make you spit up blood, but I'm not willing to research that much. The area before the mouth section, also has a heart beaty noise with a much more noticible kind've rumbling noise which, if this is a heart disease paralell, probably signifies it's quite serious indeed. Another note is the polyp mouths were vomiting, kind've brownish stuff, kind've a dried blood shade. Maybe foreshadowing (if you got there before you figured out the blood thing)?
Enough stalling however! On to polyp mouth.
Annnnnd mouth town again. Except now there's a big rotating red field and I'm pretty sure I saw a little meat dude dancing around before I tabbed out. The sound is also much more chaotic. Maybe this is an effect of the blood room from before? I'm gonna presume so to keep me niiiiice and chill. Well. Not chill. Sure enough there are a ton of meat men dancing around. Also of note is the fact that all the blood ghost things have went from having mouths to having bloody holes where the mouths were. I'm gonna go check the other mouth town and see if this was indeed an effect of the blood room before I check out the one portal from before, although I doubt much has changed. Also of note is the red field is now stealing my effects whenever I hit esc. Shit's gettin real. Also of note is the giant horrible mouth thing in the background is now also very bloody.
I head back and no, it is not. So I have to explore the entire area, no excuses. Siiiiiigh. It seems way may have found the "home" of the red field at least. I'm getting the feeling this may be another short update. Luckily after this it's back to relatively brighter shores. I admit I turn down the volume a bit before entering the next area. The noise is messing with me more then anything. Always been sensitive to sound. I head through two heads with bloody faces and mouths to find a stalk of heads with bloody, fanged mouths. Three a "plant" I'd say. They have white hair that's kinda messy, so I'm again, assuming it's sabitsuki. It only seems to be here to be disconcerting. Nothing much happens, no effect I don't bother messing with it because again I kinda wanna get this done. I'll come back later for it. Annnnd the other gate takes me back to meat cave. Looked like red heads with horns. Hmm. A new section of meatcave too, no black haired NPCs, a couple of doors, one I'll have to go back into blood mouth town to get into, a new gate with little robotty things forming a gate for it, annnd a door that I can reach. I decide to go to the robot gate first because damn I need a breather.
And it provides! A big white field with little orange spots around, and peaceful music. Lovely. It's small, but it chills me out a bit. I find another gate there with black and orange on it. I decide to go back through the robot gate first to go to the one door I can get to currently. I'll go back to the other door later in the update, along with testing the head stalk NPCs with powers. I'm feeling better about it. The element of surprise is gone. As I head back though, Ifind a side path with a particularly dramatic looking door. I head to the one from before first because I'll forget it otherwise.
And in it is a bunch of ghostly mouth NPCs that were in mouth town. I have to walk by them to get around, sooooo here goes nothing. On the other side are bloody hole ghost lookin things. Maybe they're supposed to be "plants". There's also a door there that goes who knows where. The bloody hole ghosts don't look quite as horrible without the horrible music and swirling red field but it's still enough to put me on edge. Into the center door first, although to be fair both of these doors seem kinda iffy to me. Annnnd this leads to ANOTHER new section of meat cave with a whole new slew of dramatic doors. I think I'm gonna take a break from meat cave for now and go back to the robot gate. We will come back for this stuff, but I need to chill. But first, let's go test head stalk thing. Nothing effects it. Yep, here to mess with you. It would appear meat cave is a..... traumatic area, all in all. We'll be back later. For now, robot gate.
I head up to the black and orange gate annnnnd the music cuts out, the screen goes black, and there's a giant crater in the center with a girl wandering around it.
There is no escape.
ALRIGHT TIME TO MAN UP I GUESS. This area, much like the last is very small. Nowhere to go but the crater. Luckily, it is not enterable. Whew. Although this does mean the only place left is either my shoddy theories or meatcave. This game doesn't let up. Handgun doesn't do much, whistle however moves the girl closer to the crater. Nothing happens if she "enters" it. I'm assuming the pipe will piss her off so I don't bother trying. Back to a brief reprive in robot area. Also of note is in crater the screen grows red tinted, but in robot the screen is white tinted. The opposite of the red film maybe? Hmm. So, let's go to the door beyond the portal back to blood mouth. I just have to go in the opposite side. It reveals a long narrow pathway. There is litterally nowhere else for us to go but dramatic looking doorways. This is probably the worst judging by the layout. Assuming the game is being consistant.
It leads into a giant open area of meatcave. Exploration commences. Nothing in here but a black haired NPC woman with blood coming from between her legs (or perhaps from under her) lying on the floor presumably dead. Mother died in childbirth is now a more plausible theory then ever before. It's not like baby Sabitsuki would remember anything but the most bare details. Testing with stuff, handgun, nothin, steel pipe, nothin, but what I'm expecting to work, the whistle.... ...Makes the body kind've twitch downward. Reminiscent of how cat worked on the corpse that gave you stoplight in yume nikki. Let's interact to make sure there's not some grim effect based reminder of this whole horrible area...
..Yep. Viscera the effect. I am speechless. Let's take a look. A brief note before we dive into madness is viscera refers to the soft internal organs of organic creatures, particularly the intestines. I'm guessing it'll just be sabitsuki as a meat monster or something. Or it'll pull the wool over my eyes and launch me into a nightmare event. It makes sabitsuki have a giant hole in her stomach. Shift makes her try to put her intestines back in. JESUS CHRIST.
Well, it's no blood mouth or blood-room feat. red film. Let's go look at the other rooms. I'm sure none of them are tooooo horrible. The other door in the first area with the robot gate leads me to the other end of the mouth ghost room in the meatcave. I realize keeping up with my made up names is hard but I don't wanna look up the fan assigned names lest I spoil something for myself. In the second area of meatcave I find a second robot gate, more "developed" looking. Let's take a look. (come on peaceful white area come on come on come on)
Sure enough. Same area in fact, I missed the second robot gate there my first time through. Back to meatcave. I explore a bit and find two giant piles of meat with mouths sticking out at random angles surrounded by mouth ghosts. NOOOOOO THANK YOU SIR. I'll be back for you later. Back to some of the other doors. The one other door I think. Maybe I'll go in after. May as well get this done with.
Annd we're back in shallow meatcave where the exploding woman event is. I head back in and go to tumor mouth gate thing. I've got a thing about tumors and cancer too, by the way. This game isn't pullin no punches. (But secretly inside I fear that after I explore this, all of the really scary stuff will be gone and I will only have tame things from there on. I guess there's really the red film areas. Maybe viscera can get through them? Hmmm.)
I dive in (after trying to make excuses for not doing it for a few minutes, and doing stuff I'd put off (which reminds me, I need to put the clothes in the dryer) for a little bit) and....
...It leads to vanilla mouth town. I'm.... kind've dissapointed. Oh well. I also didn't explore mouth town as thoroughly as I thought. I'm gonna mess with those things a bit later however, and test some hanging theories I have to finish this one off. Not the red film rooms = Viscera though, I've had plenty of excitement for tonight. I head to the giant eye mural in the basement area of the telephone pole world, and realize I forgot to whack that sucker with a steel pipe (I think.). Also worth trying the whistle too. Nothin. I'm sure there's some way to get it to do something, the music cut out here, and that's always a sign of something. Maybe it's just an important part of the game from sabitsuki's perspective.
Onward to the white world with marching injured women. Yeah yeah scary plant place you're nothing now that I've braved meatca- hmm. A door I never entered. I find myself in a place with heart monitors choked by vines and a vined up nurse. Also a vined up shack. In I go. I end up in a place not unlike the vined up area from before, with a single notrust monster girl there. I'm beginning to think they're symbolic, rather then an actual person sabitsuki knew. They seem to show up in a lot of different areas. One of the doors in this area has purplish vines coming out of it. In I go. The area has been choked over entirely with vines, all of the girls from the previous area are gone, presumably dead. A lot of the plants have grown and turned purple. Some are emitting flowers or fruit or something. I get the gas mask effect from a smoking plant. It... puts a gas mask on you.
I look around more and find myself in a tentacle world. Maybe the plants turn into the tentacles? Wierd. Maybe the tentacles are plants all along. Anyway, here we are in tentacle hell. Let's take a swing around. There are also a few notrust monsters around. I find a mass of tentacles and interact and it takes me back to the tentacle area I knew already. Back to the nexus to explore plant land more.
I go into the door that isn't purple vined and seemingly find the previous viney area without any girls in it. Hmmm. The area is mazelike and not terribly noteworthy. I find my way out into a new area, coming out of an overgrown shack with two of the little tooth people nearby. Odd. I find my way to a field of flowers and interact with the central one, and it teleports me back to the grown over islands. Back to the nexus again. Ooooone more run through of it.
I find a giant plant feeding out of a water bin. there's a door behind it. I test handgun and whistle, nothin. Steel pipe time. I bash the plant and hear a muffled "yip" noise that usually happens. I think I accidentally killed someone behind it. Whoops. I hammer the various bushes and kill all of em, but nothing. Hmm. I exist the room and try to talk to the person in the plant... ...But she's still dead. A mystery for another day. I find nothing else in the area, but decide to explore the area where I found the flower field that teleported me back to the plant islands. I explore a bit and find the ghost effect near a giant planty shrine. It turns you into a ghost, go fig. Pressing shift turns you invisible. If it's anything like yume nikki this also keeps hostile NPCs from getting at you. Handy. At any rate nothing much else is there. The white tooth guys and the greyish tooth guys seem to be mostly splitting up, you'll find them at the opposite ends of flower fields and such. Curious.
So that's that for today. Excitement rounded off with a trip back to the "more or less" mundane. We're up to 21 effects, and if my pre game play research is right there's 3 more before the endings are unlocked. Still not sure where rust is, and no I won't read spoilers on how to activate it.
