Dream last night began with going to an amusement park with my girlfriend. There was a big live play simulator thing you could walk into and it would project the play into the world around you. The first simulation we tried was a baseball game being interrupted by the pitcher turning into a bear and mauling people. It was a comedy, purportedly. Then the second was a story set in a science fiction/fantasy world of some sort. It started out in a basin surrounded by extremely steep mountains, with some rocks and light conifer forest in the bottom. We were animals of a sort, and we were tasked with protecting artifacts hidden in the caves in the hillsides.
I was a tiny lizard at first, in a cave from which a spring erupted. Just inside of where the spring erupted from the bedrock was where my artifact was hidden, but the cave had two entrances, one into the mountain basin and one at the foot of a slope just outside the basin, where a wide, flat valley surrounded by horrifically steep, spiky cliffs had a path up a scree slope to a smaller hanging valley. There was a lynx or something wandering through my cave, and I was supposed to be wary of it (I guess it would eat me?) and so I instead left the cave and climbed the path up to the hanging valley. At some point I became a normal human. In the hanging valley there was a domed structure with huge holes in it like a suspended honeycomb shape, and inside that dome I found some green rocks with bubbly bulges I grabbed and mushed together. This summoned a huge dragon with vitreous green scales. It talked to me and we tried in vain to also resurrect its mate/wife, but then turned to architecture of a sort.
The dragon taught me how to create channels in the landscape and summon springs, much like the valleys we were in. This also left some hanging stone bridges you could walk across. At some point my girlfriend joined us, and then we tried again and successfully summoned this dragon's girlfriend. They then flew off and some creepy dude tried to sneak up and grab us so we abandoned the place. This was apparently one of the people looking for these artifacts, and he wouldnt be alone, so we split up and I ran down into the valley to a roadway where I grabbed a bike.
At this point I was Harry Potter, like literally looked like Daniel Radcliffe. So as I rode this bike down the road I met a family from China or something, and they helped me butcher a deer someone else had run over so I could have dinner. But then the cops came barreling down the road with lights flashing and the family drove off and I had to ditch the bike and run. Then a huge airship appeared overhead. They had this red light pulse sensor that could register the shape of the human body, so I ran up into the hills into a very snowy area or a glacier or something, and found a cave to hide in. I discovered along the way I could trick the sensor if I adopted a shape that generally didn't resemble the human form before the pulse fired, which was forewarned by the area lighting up slowly. But that didn't work so well anyway and this glacial stream cavern was a dead end, and the cops came in and found me. At the head of the stream there was an artifact, so they claimed that too. They hauled me up to the airship, where I found that family had also been captured, white VW beetle and all, and stuck in a holding cell near the hangar entrance. This thing was a massive aircraft carrier, apparently it even had a proper flight deck topside.
So we kinda hatched a half-baked plan to escape from our cells, strap on parachutes (me to myself the family to their car) and jump off the carrier before anybody knew we had got out. It worked, kinda, but I landed in an open field below the carrier and had to run to cover. The cops/carrier sensor couldnt find me for whatever reason so I waited until they moved on to search further up the valley and then ran into a nearby village. This whole place was under the control of a military dictatorship apparently, and the cops would just pluck people off the street on false charges to put into labor camps for the duration of their "community service" sentence, which was thankfully pretty brief. I got caught and dragged off like that twice more before finally managing to sneak back out of town and farther down the valley. There I found another place to hang out, a small city-state called Alex's Domain or something, literally run by this Alex guy, who wasnt as big a cunt as this other dictator. In this case there was actually a lack of law enforcement, so people were kinda expected to take care of themselves. But they had some basic infrastructure including roads. I climbed up onto a cliff where there was a sort of inn and airport for VTOL craft, and spent some time there. Then I got another parachute or jetpack or something and jumped off the cliff into the hanging valley below it, where there was a series of houses.
I ran into some criminals and got killed, which made the simulation/game reset to just before I jumped off the cliff. So I did it again and this time went a different route, exploring the valley and talking to the people and breaking into and looting the abandoned houses, some of which were just full of corpses and goats for some reason? The goats werent the threat though apparently they left me alone and just moped in their cesspool houses. So then I wandered into a subterranean labyrinth that turned out to be the true capital of Alex's Domain. There was a huge fight going on against some alien/human alliance that was trying to wipe everyone out, my girlfriend was there again and we got involved. Got cool armor, looked a lot like the MJOLNIR armor from Halo the spartans used. So we fought for a long ass time and kept getting killed and resetting the simulation, mostly because my girlfriend was goofing around instead of participating. We won/escaped further below ground though and I then screwed around in there until I could steal a work pass that would let me move around freely in the factories and shit. They were apparently breeding alien dinosaurs.
They resembled dinosaurs superficially, but apparently they were the native wildlife of this planet that had been wiped out when humans showed up, because earthly flora overtook the native flora and of course most of the herbivorous animals couldnt eat terrestrial plants, and so starved, the ecosystem collapsed. It turns out not only are a lot of the megafauna dinosaur shaped, but those dragons were literally the native sapient species. But most of these critters (and plants) were still very much alive, just "hibernating" in a sense. So that resurrecting the dragons was more like waking them up. Alex's project had been to restore the native flora by breeding strains that could compete with terrestrial flora and then waking up and rehabilitating the rest of the hibernating organisms. The artifacts scattered around were apparently created by the dragons and important to some of these species' ability to resurrect. So we worked on that for a while. I think then my alarm went off because I don't remember anything further...
TL;DR WE WERE THE ALIENS THE WHOLE TIME AND WE WOKE UP THE DRAGONS BUT THEYRE COOL
