Hrmm... So in a way, it's probably best if I don't go in with an investigatory/calculated mind and start hopping off of ledges if I want to retain the dream. Just... Let things flow.
I'll keep some of that in mind. I suppose in a way that I'm lucky, I don't really have particularly odd dreams often. Most of my own dreams are about latent control issues, such as not being able to drive a car in the midst of darkness or chronically arriving at places either late or extraordinarily early. I did write one particularly odd dream back down during the summer. I wrote it down and elaborated on it as sort of a short story... Thing... It's kind of corny really, and eventually waking Birdy started writing things to complete the story. A majority of the major events, did happen, but I sort of fluffed the ending as I'm not sure if I ever dreamt the ending or not anymore.
But perhaps it's worth sharing as my other dream was sort lame.
There were once two young sisters, young women being trained in the arts of magic. They were both fair and pretty creatures, but led two very different lives. One was focuses and enjoyed to read. The other was a wanderlust, who's thoughts often led her to forget. They both hated the school and dreamed of something far beyond it.
One day, while reading the first sister stumbles upon a book. It tells of a great treasure sunken in a nearby pond. To unlock this treasure, she needed to find seven books that when read would unlock this treasure. However, this was not a task that she could do alone. So she asks the help of the second sister, who agrees at the idea of treasure. They leave the society of magic, destined not to return.
With each others aid, they find these books and set out for the magical pond. They find it exactly where it is said to be. The first sister reads the books one by one, and as she does so, they fall into the lake, and beautiful colored stones rise to the surface in their place. The second sister gets ready to retrieves them while the first keeps reading. However, as the first sister keeps reading, she makes a startling discovery.
The treasure is not necessarily what it appears to be. The stones suddenly sink down into the pond. The second sister is shocked by this, and turns to her sister. As the girl reads the last phrase, the first sister falls into the lake with the book. The second sister is agape with horror. She searches the water but she cannot find her sister. She dives repeatedly, but she is not strong enough to reach the bottom to find her. She panics and goes to shore, crying.
As her tears fall, a man comes by. Being of magic, he understands the girls plight and arranges to help her. He givers her his cloak, which when unfolded can lift a person into the air. In addition, he gives her a net long enough to scrape the bottom of the pond and disappears. It is in this way that the little girl finds the first six stones. However, she finds this process to be fun, and as soon as she gets all six, she throws the stones back into the lake. She does this over and over, collect six stones, then throw them back. At the end of the day she has so much fun, that she forgets why she is retrieving the stones at all.
So after retrieving them once more, she goes off to the town and sells them. Each stone sells for a higher and higher price for they are enchanted, and the money dazzles her. When it is all said and done, the second sister had made herself a great fortune. With this money, she lives comfortably for many years. She has completely forgotten her sister.
Years later, she finds a stone at market, a beautiful red stone the likes of which that seems vaguely familiar. As she clasps onto the stone, her sister is burnt by a fire by the likes of which she had never felt in a long time. In fit of insanity, she decides to buy the stone. She is burnt by passion. It is then that she remembers the other stones, so she sets her mind to collect them all.
She collects them all, each harboring a different emotion. The first three deal with happiness. Orange, desire, though she does not know for what. Yellow reawakens the emotions of joy of friendship, though not the person she is looking for. It also reminds her of joy.
However, the next three remind her of unhappy emotions. The fourth reawakens her own sense of greed, her foolishness of selling these stones for money, and her own youthful foolishness. The blue stone when retrieved gives her an immense source of sorrow. In an instant, she realizes her foolishness and her sister. She must be dead or gone now. Part of her wishes only to give up, sell back the stones and live comfortably for the rest of her days as before. But, instead she keeps going. It takes her many more years.
By the time the retrieves the purple stone, she is already an old woman. She regrets her many mistakes in her life. The purple stone is mark of repentance, she knows what she must do.
The old woman returns to the pond, finding it exactly how she left it. But now she is old, and cannot dive, and is too old to cast a net. She stands at the edge of the pond, and stares at her own reflection at the spot where her sister had fallen in so long ago. As she stands there tears fall like rain. Just then, she spots a white stone at the bottom of the pond. Without hesitating, she dives in.
As she sinks to the bottom, life's memories swish past her. Everything she has learned hits her once more. When she grabs the final stone, her world goes white.
When she wakes up, she is no longer an old woman, but instead a young girl. She is not an old woman, but she has the wisdom of one beyond her age. Her sister is nearby reading, and so she grips her close. The first sister is confused by this, prompting the second sister to explain herself.
"When you have someone or something that's important to you, you must never let it go. Time flies too fast to forget what is important in life."
Edit: Just as I was about to go into a dreamstate, I heard a few voices inside my room. Apparently, two classmates of mine snuck in drunk, so I had to get up and usher them out only to discover the door lock was broken. I briefly tell my roommate that the door can't lock and head back to bed. Moments later I realize that this entire sequence was in fact a dream and I wake up. Blasted mind! OBEY!
