First dream I remember: there was a deal going down.
A pair of (space?) pirates, or some other kind of violent thieves, were preparing to sell something very valuable to someone upstairs from the common room/lounge/cafeteria they were in.
However, along came this sneaky fellow with a weird, impractical-looking bionic hand. He knew what he was after, scooping up these two trinkets (not the item being sold) from the pirates' table - apparently these tiny objects, possibly jewellery, were used as some form of identification or possibly keys.
The pirates leapt angrily to their feet, but with a (possibly literal) snap of his fingers (can't remember if it was his normal hand or the bionic one) their memories of the incident were wiped, leaving him free to stroll upstairs and make their deal for them while they stood around in confusion.
Turns out, they were selling a big box of what looked like hospital blood packs to a nun (like, the boss nun. They're called a mother superior, right?) - but they were, apparently, filled with the blood of the Virgin Mary.
Now, that seems pretty unlikely, don't it? Not only has this blood somehow kept for thousands of years, what timeframe did they extract such a large amount of blood over? And I'm pretty sure plastic, hospital-grade blood bags and the tools to fill them didn't exist in Biblical times, anyway.
But any doubts about the authenticity of this strange, gross relic were quickly banished when one opened the box to look at it. The mother superior was overwhelmed with excitement at the very sight of the bags, her whole body going tense and her face twisting into an involuntary and unseemly rictus of desire. I think she even made this strange hissing sound!
Her companion at the bargaining table (they were alone in the room, I think), despite being some heathenous, sin-drenched thief with a robot hand, didn't fare much better - there was definitely something supernatural about their reactions to the contents of this innocuous cardboard box.
At length, with some effort, the nun managed to close the box. She sat there a moment, catching her breath. Then I'm pretty sure she opened it again, with the same result.
I'm not entirely sure what their reaction was like or how to describe it, but like... it was as though every fibre of their being coveted those packs and the stuff inside them. They wanted to grab them and open them and... I don't know, drink it? Whatever the case, it was something they really ought not to do, and so it took every shred of mother superior's considerable willpower to do so, and the very urge to do such a thing was frightening.
Before long, a deal was struck. The Church absolutely had to have this, even if they didn't know what the heck they were gonna do with it. Then, I'm pretty sure the thief selling it(who I believe was disguised as a clergyman of some kind, but I suppose this could have been a separate discussion between her and an actual priest) suggested putting the box of bags in storage, in some middle-of-nowhere village church where no-one would think to look for valuable artefacts.
This plan was quickly agreed with, but the man who suggested it had ulterior motives: after seeing and feeling its power, he absolutely planned on taking that stuff for himself.
Now, at this point there may or may not have been a timeskip of anywhere from a decade to a century or two. Depends whether the earlier scenes were set in the past or present, I suppose. I think the present but who knows.
There was at least a bit of time involved, time enough for the box to be shipped to its new home. And if there was a timeskip while the heat (and possibly anyone within the church who knew about the boxes contents) died down, rest assured that robo-hand-man had found some way to preserve his life (maybe whilst still aging a bit) in the interim.
Unfortunately for him, however, the place the box was sent turned out to be the hometown of two characters from earlier in the dream: an adventurous, quick-witted teenage lad and his eccentric old mad-scientist mentor, one or both of them with hearts of gold.
I'm sure you can think of at least one classic film this premise reminds you of...
Anyway, when the thief showed up in town, possibly years later, he came in contact with these two and it seemed like they would likely be the only ones who could stop him from getting his hands on that box of holy blood and, presumably, the powers it held.
That seems to be all I can remember of the dream right now, though. Bummer.
