Dozed off on a long car trip today, and while I don't remember any specific dreams they were very much inspired by The Last of Us. I haven't finished the game yet, but already it's having the same effect on me that gripping films and novels have- real life feels even more boring than usual, I just stumble along pondering it, waiting to get a bit more of the story. :P

In my dream last night i was the leader of a group of mercenaries (It may have been a post-apocalypse world, but i don't know). Our group consisted of me, 3 other guys, and a girl, none of us really looked like trained mercenaries (i remember one of us was probably fatter than a merc should be) but we got shit done anyway. It started out with us riding after a bull and making the girl catch and hogtie it because she was new. She managed to catch the bull and tie it up with us all cheering behind her. Fast forward a bit and we were moving through an empty town to a mansion with some corrupt rich guys in it, sadly for us corrupt rich guys had there own mercenaries and we have to go building to building kicking ass (if you've ever played Red Dead redemption the layout was somewhat like tombstone). After clearing out the town i try to kill a sniper up at the mansion with my own rifle, and miss because both in reality and my dreams I'm a terrible shot. So because i wasted all the bullets i had to charge at the mansion across a killing ground with fat guy. We made it and i shot the sniper (repeatedly) and killed him, then moved over to a window where all four of the corrupt rich targets were just sitting around. I shot and killed two and then jumped into cover really quickly, the surviving two ran off into their own corners of the mansion to hide from us. At this point we just started screwing around in the mansion, we found one of them but decided to screw with him and have the girl yell insults at him through a window, with me occasionally pulling her away so she wouldn't get shot. Then i heard i knock at the door and very carefully answered it, well turns out the girl adopted a five or six year old girl and she was being taken to us IN THE MIDDLE OF A DANGEROUS MISSION. Since we fortunately already killed everything that was a danger i went and spent about an hour trying to sign a paper that wasn't clearly marked with what i was supposed to sign and this annoying delivery boy just kept mumbling what i was supposed to sign. Eventually i got it done and my squad got a new little girl to take care of in our new mansion. I recall the girl saying "Hey doesn't this make you her father?" to which i responded "don't even joke about that. I only signed it because i have to as the leader". Shortly after that i woke up.

Climbing a mountain with a group of people I was acquainted with, just to jump onto a thread wide-ladder, and from that descend down an even thinner rope into some dark cavern. Got the adrenaline pumping, it felt as real as dreams get, especially as I nearly slipped the jump to the ladder.
So we climbed down, there were two people above me and three below, with more at the bottom where it was surprisingly well lit despite how dark it looked from above, excepting one particularly dark rocky face hanging in the shade of the mountain range. We were all looking for something, though I did not know what it was I was looking for when the view I saw some sort of strange shrine covered in dolls and school stationary.
Everything got darker, more red and everyone but me was going insane. To top it all off the dolls had come to life and were also killing everyone, in a grisly manner. It was intensely brutal and highlighted by someone putting their fingers in an electric pencil sharpener.
Strangely, I was calmly going on with the search, investigating the rock face [there was nothing there sadly], turning around, running around one of the dolls trying to stab me with some pencils [again, surprisingly calm here] running through all the things trying to horribly murder me, opening some door and locking it the hell behind me with steel bars.
Then I started trying on some new clothes.
Strange way of remembering I need a new suit.
The only part where I was terrified was when dream-me decided it was also a great time to have a shower and at that moment everyone in the house decided they needed a shower too. And I forgot to lock the door.

My dreams last night were about World War III.
I was in a very small village with my mother when suddenly all television and radio channels declared that war has begun and that America launched nuclear weapons at our country. The village where we were staying was located near several ICBM missile silos, meaning that direct nuclear strike at our position was pretty much guaranteed. I've heard that there was a fallout shelter nearby in an abandoned Soviet military warehouse facility, so we decided to make a run for it.
We started running towards the abandoned facility as quickly as possible, as ballistic missiles started to take off from our launch sites. Soon, we reached the heavily overgrown facility and found derelict vehicle garages and munitions depots. The entrance to the shelter was nowhere to be found. American missiles were only minutes away from our location so we decided to take cover in the facility. I spotted American warheads descending upon us, took cover... and then woke up, feeling rather nervous.

I've fallen asleep again. In my next dream I was a Russian commander of an old T-62 tank. We were on our own against an American invasion force.
We sneaked upon an American camp located in an abandoned village and opened fire, catching Americans off-guard. They frantically started firing anti-tank missiles at us and missed. We killed them all and drove away, only to stumble upon an another American camp, as well as an M1A1 Abrams tank only meters away from us. We opened fire on the American tank, but our shells failed to penetrate its armour. Abrams opened fire on us, our tank was heavily damaged and me and my crew were captured.
We were taken to a POW camp where Americans brainwashed other Russian prisoners-of-war into becoming liberals and traitors. I started to think about the way to escape the camp.

I had a dream that a XBOX 360 and a Nintendo Wii asked me to be their translator in their combined effort of starting a political revolution that would see the Playstation 3 and in fact all Sony consoles banished from the United States of America. I woke up from this dream saying in a half-dazed voice "We must return them from where they came." and it makes me kind of wonder if this is but a prediction of the future of console wars.

Well, it just occurred to me what one of the themes that pop up often in my dreams was: Video-game mechanics. Hopefully knowing this will make me question whether I'm dreaming next time I either try to pause, or try reloading to an earlier point in my dream.  :)

I was in ASCII dungeon crawler. No, really.

The goal was to descend very very low and activate some kind of crystal. Lots of levels were trap/themed levels, often with deadly opponents. There was also a level with treasury with many burial items, like Ankhs, or those chinese paper slips, and lots of jade carvings. Another room was full of black egyptian jackals, and one other room was filled with acid swamp.

There was a level where the only enemies were quicksilver guys who moved at extra super fast speed. Then, there was a trap level with widn current that tossed you around and 'Endless Stairs' which took you so long to climb you actually managed to age, game-wise.

I don't remember everything, sadly, but there was a wizard guy who tried to woo me and rob me from my treasures, as well as floating skull who laughed at me in times of trouble, accompanied by dramatic musical interlude.

I do remember I got the crystal thing from the bottom, and won the game.

Went to sleep at 9AM or so and slept for about 11 hours. :o
In that time I had some long, rather odd and definitely quite exciting dream.

I can't remember much about the setting, a lot/most of it seemed modern but there were medieval fantasy elements in it, too. My dad and I (I think) were sent from whatever settlement we started off in to investigate reports of strange behaviour in some smallish town. (The main characters seemed to be somewhat interchangable, I think, or perhaps I didn't play as myself at all in this dream?)

Apparently dad was kinda experienced in dealing with such matters, but we got to this quaint-looking little town in the afternoon, had a glance around and dad decided there was nothing amiss and that he was going home.
For some reason (I guess I was determined to find out what was up, can't remember why, though) I stuck around, taking a closer look. I can't remember very many of the town's details anymore, sadly, but at some point I was in this central hall/townhall building when in through the main doors came a ghost- this floating, vaguely humanoid, transparent blue blob wearing a sheriff's hat.

The ghost spoke to me, as a newcomer to town, and requested my assistance in escorting a caravan to some place where the townsfolk made semi-frequent trips for some reason or other. I guess I figured this was part of whatever badness they were up to, because I agreed as a way to get to the bottom of it. The caravan was set to leave at sunset the next day(or the day after, can't remember).

In the meantime I just hung around town. This is where characters get somewhat interchangable- I'm not sure if there were more people in my group from the start or if more joined me or what, but there were at least two of us exploring the town, interacting with the locals, who seemed normal at first glance but revealed their oddities as we spoke to them.

One of the 'main characters' who the dream focused on for a while was this rather pretty-looking young guy (so it obviously wasn't me :P) who had a penchant for mild crossdressing. He was wearing a bit of lipstick and some strange frilly white shirt (can't remember what pants-wise), and he had his hair pinned up somehow.
Anyway, he started shyly flirting with a local girl in a cafe attached to/within the townhall, who ended up being somewhat of a fount of information about the town.

My memory gets very hazy around this point, but there was a fair bit more that went on in town, as well as something seemingly seperate about a zombie movie. There certainly was some supernatural weirdness going on there, but I can't remember quite what. It can't have been too serious, though, as I/my group became quite comfortable in town, to the point that we almost missed the caravan's due time to leave.

It ended up as a mad rush as the sky started to darken after something finally reminded us about the caravan- we went through a part of the town I hadn't explored before. (I'm pretty sure the characters at this point were crossdressing-guy and that local girl, who had purple/teal hair.)
There was some really creepy ritual/celebration going on this particular night, which apparently drove the townsfolk involved to become mindless creatures of bloodlust, attacking everything and everyone in sight. My guide was at least mostly unaffected, presumably due to not participating in the ritual since she was hanging out with me instead.

Anyway, we had a few close calls where she had to fend off berserk people who dived at us, but eventually she led us out of the town and returned home.
I was next to some sort of little trading post, with these asian people who I at first mistook for the caravan. I was rather confused by this, as they just sat around cooking stir-fry, until I managed to communicate with one in English and he pointed off through a treeline, where I could see the distant outline of an actual, winnebago-style caravan.

I woke up shortly after meeting with that ghost again. Can't remember what went on, or most of the dream for that matter, but it was very, very interesting. I might have to become more nocturnal if I have dreams that awesome.

Part of my dream last night that I can remember the most clearly was weird in that it wasn't weird at all, for a dream. Usually my dreams are wacked out in some way, but in this one I was just late for the first day of the new school year, all the teachers hated me, and that was the whole thing. :S

Reading all this makes me quite sad, as I barely ever remember my dreams. I dreamt a fair bit more when I was a child. Fo the last eight years though, I might remember one dream a month. Curiously though, they seem to be almost prescient. Only by up to a few days, and quite abstract but still... They're never very nice dreams, so I'd happily trade them for more regular light-hearted ones.

Do what I do: keep a 'dream notepad' near your bed. When you wake up, write the dream details into it as soon as possible. It helped me, might help you as well :P

Just had a pretty awesome dream. The first part of it was apparently me playing Diablo II in first person. The second part of the dream was where it switched gears into some kind of awesome game.

Essentially it was a game of capture the flag, but with two teams of magic pinball robots called monkeybots. The monkeybots float, with six degrees of movement, they also bounce off of walls like a superball, and you can quite a bit of speed up if you use the environment which includes special bumpers that propel you, speed boosting forcefields, and other junk.

There's also this "paint" mechanic, where your monkeybot has to be painted certain colours to get past certain forcefields, open certain doors, and at each team's base there's a giant "goalkeeper" robot that will zap you back to your own base if you don't have the right paint scheme. You can change your paint scheme by passing through certain paint curtains and fountains.

Oh, and there's no death in the game, rather at worst people get sent back to their respawn point where they have to spend 10 seconds getting back in the game. You can respawn voluntarily at any time though it has a five second charge up for the teleport.

So instead of killing people you knock your opponents back to base by either getting them into one of the "ball return" holes that are scattered about the map, or alternatively by trapping them in certain areas where you can't paint yourself the right colour to get out. You typically do this by ramming them, or using your charge up stun attack. Both of these things can stun your opponent for a short while, which then lets you pick them up and throw them with some force. A flag bearer that get stunned drops the flag, which follows the standard rules of being returned to base if the enemy team picks it up.

Oh, and in addition there's a bunch of specials, like there's a fireball special that's single use and stuns everyone in an area at a long range, but has the drawback of travelling slowly and having to hit something first.

Then there was some kind of paint spray who's utility I forget exactly.

Then there was a single use one way portal gun which only lasted for a good 20 seconds before disappearing.
