You try talking a bit with the rat, it reacts rather agressively and bites the tip of one of your fingers off, it hurt a bit, but not much.. for some reason.
Stubborn as you are, you continue trying to pacify it, loosing a few pieces of meat here and there, it suddenly gets friendly.

You are in a turned over concrete half-pipe, you are rather hungry still, you are still hung over. Your mutant pet rat just sits there, watching the ominous red gloom in the sky above Rusthell.

Look around for anything useable- cloth, medical kits, sharp scrap metals, food.
We still need to get food and water, a weapon, and spare provisions like clothes in case.
