Well, besides the tantrum spiral currently devastating my fort, I've got a cave croc making me plenty of eggs in a pit, which I can also use as an execution chamber for thieving rascals. My fort is officially ready to breach the quarry.

Can Slade be used for constructions such as walls or floors?

What version are you running, ASCIt? I recently dug my own slade quarry using the magma flow tile exploit described in the wiki, and my experience would lead me to believe slade is treated as stone, and nothing more. It's listed as non-economic on the z menu, can be used anywhere normal stone can be used, and it can't be melted or smelted.

Edit: So yes, slade can be used for construction.

It would be interesting to see how it would work with minecarts. A slade minecart filled with slade blocks is bound to do some damage when fired at enemy at high velocities.

They decided to leave my fortress via the circus because the front door was locked to keep Goblins out.  THAT should be an interesting trip back to the Mountainhome.

Well, I totally forgot to set up anti-invasion stuff, so all me dwarves be dead. I did notice one thing, however:

gotta love the naming algorithm and random chance.

also, I'll be restarting my research as soon as I find a new quarry. This one's been...tainted...by the undead.
