Other EntitiesEvil Balrog: At N-17. Has +5 Attack, +4 Defense. A cruel beast made of fire and molten stone from the underworld on a quest to destroy humanity.
Goings onBoth Kobold armies in the Desert of time die to mysterious forces. Human Sulfur mine destroyed by Dragon, Kobolds steal. Human miners breach a subterranean pocket of toxic gas. It floods the mine, killing 2 Population. 1 Elvish Fishery sinks into the ocean, along with Hobbit-claimed oceans.
Looking out over his map table in the Human Capital, King Shippe du Freaques sighs. The Balrog threat has destroyed his most profitable sulfur mine, and is in a great position to start a forest fire which could spread across the continent, spelling disaster for both the Humans and their Elf neighbors. Freaques finally realizes the true gravity of the situation when he reads the fatality and property damage reports. He falls backwards in his chair and hyperventilates, causing his assistant to call "my liege! What's wrong?". The King only answered "ready my saber, lad". The next day, The King led a huge army of untrained and unarmed peasants, along with his steel-bearing royal guard to the site of the first encounter between Humans and Hell. Seeing it for his own eyes, the Monarch new that no meager farming equipment could possibly do any damage to the beast. He sighed heavily, then drew his sword and held it high. All his guard did the same, and none of them looked behind to see what the militia did. Shippe tightened his crown (he probably should have worn a helmet) on his head and ordered the huge militia to stay behind and pray to Corai for the souls of the royal guard. Then, all of the proper soldiers marched south west up the mountain with their King at the front. The Balrog was busying himself by breathing fire unto a herd of unicorns, when he was interrupted by the commanding voice of Shippe du Freaques "by Corai, you shall perish via our blades!". The Balrog's face contorted into a firey grin as his sword conjured in his hands. "SO BE IT" He roared, before walking nonchalantly towards the Humans, sword aloft. A few hours later, the forest battleground had become a scorched steaming wasteland, with dead and dying soldiers littering the place. The Human monarch stood atop a mountain so that he could be level with his foe. The king was so exhausted that his sword arm was limp, and his strikes were little more than flails. The beast laughed "I'm disappointed; I assumed destroying the mightiest empire on this surface world would be more difficult than this!" before swiping at the mountain beneath the Human's feet. He was extremely bruised by the rock slide, and had several fractured bones. Despite this, he kept hold of his sword and crown and burst from the rubble. He weakly stumbled towards the beast's foot, head facing down, and took a laughably pathetic jab at it. The sword turned white-hot and shattered in the beast's leg, and the Balrog just laughed before stomping on the King's head. The force of the stomp caused the King's crown to squeeze right over his head and into a contorted position, where it then decapitated him (he probably should have worn a helmet). After destroying the strongest fighting force of the Human empire, the Balrog proceeded to stomp down the mountain into a dense forest, where the large Human militia had been stationed. 1/9 of the peasants were easily destroyed while the others ran and hid in the forest. Meanwhile, back at the capital, Lady Matilda Du Freaques received the news of her husband and held a straight face throughout (as is custom for Human nobles), but she was grinning wildly on the inside. Finally, she could begin her reign. Everything was going according to plan.
The corpse of Terenos is buried by the Hobbits, who deem the ritual a failure. Several weeks later, the rotted body finished clawing its way out of its grave and stumbles across the plains into the capital shire. The corpse, still naked and covered in black, was rotting and disfigured in several places, but the very cells of the dead Halfling's body seemed to resisting further rot (although they did not seem to want to heal or repair themselves either). Both of the Hobbit's eyes had been lost, and now instead was a purple fire in his sockets. During his trek back home, Terenos snapped his fingers at any withered crops he passed, instantly reviving them. He also deduced that he could kill small rodents and pests by simply pointing at them and willing them to die. Though, when he tried this on larger animals such as cows or even cats, the animals only seemed fatigued.
