>Achim: Fish HOME-MADE MINI-DEFLAGRATÖR out of the FRIGHTENING BOOK PILE

[Roll: 16+1 (Searching)] You manage to fish your HOME-MADE MINI-DEFLAGRATOR out of your FRIGHTENING BOOK PILE! You assign it to your previously-empty STRIFE SPECIBUS.

Your STATUS SCREEN has been updated with the spoils of your search.

SKILL UNLOCKED: SEARCHING!
MECHANICS UNLOCKED: DICE ROLLS!
MECHANICS UNLOCKED: INVENTORY!
MECHANICS UNLOCKED: SKILLS!

Whoo boy, that sure looks confusing, doesn't it? Let's get a little explanation out of the way.

DICE ROLLS are integral to your survival. Generally, when determining the success or failure of an action, you roll 1d20, add any modifiers and compare to a target number ("Difficulty"). If your final roll meets or exceeds the target number, your action succeeds! If it doesn't, your action fails.

Rolling a 1 before modifiers counts as a CRITICAL FAILURE whereas rolling a 20 before modifiers (a "natural 20") counts as a CRITICAL SUCCESS. The details of these remain to be revealed.

SKILLS are an integral part of your character. In this system, you do not have "PRIMARY STATISTICS" - Strength, Intelligence, Nimbleness and so on. Instead, your characters gets bonuses to more specific actions based on their "skills". These skills are not revealed until their first activation, though, and which ones you start with depend on a wide variety of factors. Generally, starting skills will only give a bonus of +1 to rolls, but there are exceptions.

To simplify gameplay, even though items, weapons and armor are captchalogued, assigned to strife specibi and so on, in terms of mechanics you only have "inventory slots" and "equipment slots". In Achim's inventory above, he has two equipment slots (green, stores items that directly modify skills, attacks, etc.) and five item slots (grey, stores items that can be used or sometimes not). There's usually no limits or penalties on moving items from slot to slot.

JACK: Walk towards the road like a chumpstick going for the bait.

You head down towards the road near your farm. It's the only one that's still in working order, but pretty much no one drives on it. You've long since repurposed your MAILBOX to be a part of the giant, automated system that makes your farm tick. Speaking of that system, your CLOCK-SHAPED PERPETUAL MOTION MACHINES litter the front yard around you. They're pretty gaudy, but removing them would basically be a waste of time and effort since they weigh so much.

VISIBLE: CLOCK-SHAPED ENERGY MECHANISMS, MAILBOX CONTROL PANEL, ROAD, WILDERNESS

Jon: Remember if door has a lock, if not, search around for anything on my side that could be blocking it

[Roll: 12] You determine that the door has a lock on it, and there's nothing on your side that could be blocking it! Note: you can LOOK AROUND to get a fuller (visual) view of your current location.

Jack: Access Mailbox Control Panel. Receive Mail.

Don't you remember that basically no one drives this road anymore? Not even the mailman. If someone was to put mail in your MAILBOX CONTROL PANEL, it'd surely cause some sort of horrible jam in your farm's automated machinery systems.

Jon: Look around!

You look around. Your room is just a tad messy. On the upper left there is your CRUMMY COMPUTER. It is so lame, it can only run half of your games decently. At the north-center of the room is a pile of CARDBOARD TUBES. Your BRO thinks that you use these to train against him, but they actually contain UNOPEN TOUHOU POSTERS. If BRO ever found out, you'd never live it down!

Other visible features: BOOKSHELF/GAME LIBRARY, EASEL WITH PAINTING UTENSILS, BED.

Jack: Determine location of machinery jam. That's the whole reason you're out here, right?

[Roll: 19+1 (Technology)] You pin down the sound of crying machines to your MAILBOX CONTROL PANEL which you go ahead and open anyway. There's... yep, there's a bunch of paper in there. Looks like the gears chopped it up. However, a paper slip near the front remains intact. It has green lettering on it. And is that a disc inside?

SKILL UNLOCKED: TECHNOLOGY!

>Achim: Captchalogue a RANDOM BOTTLE from your CHEMISTRY DESK; peek out of the dormer window, if available

You quickly nab one of your CHEMICAL TUBES. This one's filled with a candy-like substance that may actually be candy. It's hard to tell when you've forgotten to clean out POTENTIALLY-LETHAL CHEMICALS for a few days.

Looking outside, you can see some sort of STREET SHOOT-OUT going down. Some dude is mugging an old lady and her husband's about to whap him with a cane. For some people this might be newsworthy. But in your neighborhood, it's just Tuesday.

Jon: Check whats in the bookshelf/games library, store a unopen TOUHOU poster in inventory

[Roll: 11] You nab one of your inconspicuous CARDBOARD TUBES and check your bookshelf. It stores many games for your SLUGGISH COMPUTER (but very few books). You've sort of built these up over time through yard sales and gifts. Maybe having so many games installed is the reason your PC is so slow in the first place.

Speaking of games, weren't you supposed to receive that SUBURB game today? Oh man, if only you could get out of your room!

((Visuals and stuff alright so far? Anything I should change?))
