Alright Let's get started.

Granite, 207
Alright, I'm in charge now, so first order of business.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
You see all of these prisoners? We're going to execute them.
Any Dwarf that mentions the Accord will be executed given a paid vacation to the "Circus".
Some changes are being made to the arena.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I've taken the liberty of disbanding our current military. Why you ask? Because it's a sad excuse for one.
New military are two squads, Ranged Dwarves (The Raining Bolts), and Melee Dwarves (The Crimson Priests).
[OOC: Both of the names are rg]
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

New arena is so much better...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Oh, are you serious?
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Alright, I've begun making plans on retaking the caverns.
I refuse to cower from these beasts.

Not sure whether to be worried, or excited.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
He proceeds to claim a craftdwarf's workshop.
He's probably going make an amulet, or something.

Fath Zonbim, the slave has been found dead. Probably died from thirst, due to these lazy medical Dwarves.  ::)

Cuckundu has finally stopped gathering, and has now "begun a mysterious construction."
It better not be an earring...

Slate, 207
Well... At least it isn't an earring.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Litast, Mason acolyte has went missing. I wonder what the fool has gotten himself into...

19th of Slate.
Some migrants have arrived. Now where is that gate lever...

would like a dwarf and a turn if able

Amish Hammerdwarf (any militia dwarf will do)

Amish was born in the Mountain home to family of traders. During a trip to an outlying fortress they were ambushed by a group of elven bandit's were his entire family was slaughtered. Luckily his mother shoved him into a wooden barrel of dwarven ale so the elves wouldn't find him. After the bandits left he buried his family and made his trip back to the Mountain Home. Once there he began to train continually with his weapons swearing to one day avenge the loss of his family be killing any and all Elves. After years in the militia and countless battles have hardened him into a tough militarily minded dwarf who believes in Order, Discipline, Training.

(and a heads up been playing DF for years but first succession fortress so might need some help with uploading etc.)

I found the lever!

I ordered the Crimson Priests to guard the entrance while the migrants entered.

The Reclamation of the caverns has begun.

This is probably the craziest idea I've ever had. I decided to fight the forgotten beasts by myself; I plan on leaving the two squads to defend the entrance of cave in case of my death Troglodytes. In fact, this is probably a Death-or-Glory mission. I hope it's Glory... Wish me luck, journal!

9th of Felsite
I'm alive! You know what that means...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
((Nothing I write could do the fight justice so...))

14th of Felsite
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Time to revive this place. I did not hear from our last overseer, and real life issues have been keeping me busy for the last months.
The last person on the turn list has been PM'd, and we are accepting new overseers again.

Thanks, wow I didn't remember I'd even signed up for this.

I'll get around to looking at the save.

Edit: The color scheme is totally messed up. Is it OK if I totally switch out the raws?

Edit2: I switched out the raws and have a normal graphic scheme in ASCII. I copied the raws from Massivebasements, which was unmodded. I didn't change anything else.

Time to get this going. I see that aquifers were deleted from the raws, but I've substituted the old raws out so aquifers are back in (done to fix the ascii graphics). Hopefully that won't affect anything.

I am going to be doing this in conjunction with Cobrabrass, so updates may be a bit slow. I'm also going to push this fort as far as possible, which means you can expect some !!general insanity!! and un-PCness (in the words of Toady) in the update posts. I will try to spoiler RP fortress update sections involving exceptionally vile language or which may otherwise be offensive.

Letter from Inod Ingishlokum, Queen of Onol Zimesh, to the Outpost Liason of Onol Zimesh
17th Moonstone, 207

Her Imperial Majesty Inod Ingishlokum, Queen of Onol Zimesh, known in the human tongue as The Mountain of Phantoms, hath issued this correspondence and edict with regards to the current state of the dwarven fortress of Dumurīton, which is known in the human tongue as Hauntedhalls. The fortress was founded on 1st Granite of the year 201 and reports indicate that it is currently host to an impressive array of catacombs as well as a medium population of dwarves, sufficient to qualify it as a metropolis. The leadership and populace of Onol Zimesh, comprising Her Imperial Majesty, General Tulon Lokumkilrud, the Order of Sankis, the Mason's Guild, the Order of the Gear, a greater majority of the voting citizens (et cetera, et cetera) has convened regarding its status, and:

1) The fortress of Dumurīton "Hauntedhalls" shall be connected to the dwarven road network, and appropriate preparations, constructions, and excavations are to be made by the fortress.

2) The military defences and fortifications of Dumurīton are to be expanded to appropriate standards worthy of Onol Zimesh.

3) The infrastructure of Dumurīton is to be improved to appropriate standards regarding water supplies and personal transit.

4) The fortress of Dumurīton shall undergo downward expansion to a depth worthy of Onol Zimesh.

5) The fortress of Dumurīton is to be the site of the Grand Mausoleum of Onol Zimesh, works to begin as soon as possible.

P.S. You're fired.

This imperial edict is approved and issued by Her Imperial Majesty Inod Ingishlokum.

(The letter ends with the seal of Onol Zimesh)

Personal journal of Archmagekion, Opal 10th, 207

Today, I received two letters from General Tulon Zimesh and Her Imperial Majesty Inod Ingishlokum, informing me that the individual supposed to build the "Grand Mausoleum of the Dwarven Empire" at a place called Hauntedhauls was arrested for driving a wagon whilst sober, pending trial and possible execution, and I am the replacement. It will take me a few months to reach my destination at Hauntedhalls, so as of 1st Granite 208, I will run the fortress indirectly using a combination of geomancy and drunk weasel post.

More to come soon.

Achmagekion's Logbook, 20th Obsidian 207

In order to get to Hauntedhalls without a roadnetwork, a long journey is required. In order to keep up with basic necessities such as alcohol and nightly shelter requirements I am keeping close to civilized areas. Fortunately the assholes who gave me this job furnished me with a good load of gold coinage to spend.

The drunk weasel mail has given me the fortress plans, and I can conclude this place is a mess with a ramshackle surface fortification, and overgrown areas, such as this tomb! Those floodgates are not connected up to anything.

The area under the tomb is splattered in troll blood, no idea how that happened.

There is some good quality housing underground, but the dining rooms are improperly zoned and a bit incomplete. The trouble with those is there are not enough tables, which generally bothers dwarves if many are eating, and that will be fixed sometime.

In the depths there is a magma pipe, and there are forges surrounding it. However, the area is partially exposed to fliers.

Design time! I'll start with planning the cavern roads for the grand expansion, to get our miners digging and engravers engraving. These reports say unemployment is quite high, just what we need to get things going around here!
