No Plump Helmet Spawn?
« on: August 23, 2012, 02:17:30 pm »

So I have 8 farms running, two of which are planting different crops then Plump Helmets. All the other six are running full PH. I know I have plenty of spawn, and I have a seed stockpile near the farm. No barrels are allowed there. Usually everything goes as usual. I've built this style of farm all the time. But now, It's like I'm receiving the "Cancels Plant Plump Helmet; No Plump Helmet Spawn" error. I'm very confused.

Thanks in Advance--

So will the dwarf with the broken spine recover and use a crutch?

Did you allow the kitchens to cook plump helmets? Seeds get destroyed when you cook the plants. Brewing is fine, though.

How many farmers do you have? Even just using bags the maximum amount of seeds will still only fit into 5 or so bags, so if you have more farmers then that you can still get the cancels message due to all of the bags being picked up at the same time.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

Are the stockpiles linked to something by accident?

Actually, in earlier versions you could fit up to 100 seeds (of a particular plant) in a single bag, which meant that 2 bags was enough.
In the current version, however, a single bag can hold up to 300 seeds, which is more than you can actually get...

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

The error's caused by dwarves hijacking the bag of seeds to pick up seeds elsewhere. At least that's always been the case for me, because if there was no more seed, then there'd be no error message.

And I didn't know that they could fit 300 into one bag now, that would do it.

I have around 4 farmers. I'm not sure since I just got migrant wave. My dwarfiness kicked in. :P Oh and no, I'm not allowing them to cook them. It seems to happen whenever I brew something. Some farmer picks up the bag, walks to the still area and grabs the seed. Then he walks back to the seed stockpile and throws the bag in there. All my other farmers are just screaming that the bag is gone.  :-\

Also, (off topic) text in menus (like reports, for instance) are kind of screwed up. Some words are missing and it makes it really hard to read. Along with the military menu and other things as well. Can I fix this, or is it just a problem with DF?

Are you using a graphics pack?

I am and text glitches like that sometimes. If you zoom in or out with the mouseswheel a step it fixes it temporarily so you can read a menu.

It's a pretty common problem when using TrueType fonts. Switch to "normal" fonts and it should work fine for when you need to read something that's glitching, then switch back. You can hit F12 to toggle between the two in a hurry.
