I can live with linearity, as long as the price is right. I don't know if I'd shell out $50 for something like that.

'Lil bump. The digital release for this will be available January 31st, in the usual places. Based on the previews I'm going to hold off on it for a while, unless/until someone mines the gold out of it and says it's worth buying.

That date seems to be just for the Germans.

I can't.  Too bad, it looked like a good game, too.   :'(

North America Boxed releases is February 12, 2013.  Link for release dates.  The fact they seem to be focusing on a boxed release explains a lot of the decisions in my mind.

Yea, its probably not going to have Gangsters 1 style sandbox... which is a damned shame.  Maybe I'll pick it up on a sale.

At this point of my life I only want to spend 50 on something I know I will REALLY enjoy and not something I will moderately enjoy

Especially from a publisher like Kalypso, which has a history of souless and flawed imports worsened by bad localization (current examples being JA:BIA or Legends of Pegasus).  Tropico 4 is the only game they've gotten remotely right, and they bought that franchise from Take Two.  I've been impressed that they haven't found a way to ruin Tropico yet (though they came close pushing the bizarre social media integration that nobody wanted.)  The results of what they harvested from the corpse of Ascaron have also been mixed.

At a $50 price point, the safe bet is to demo it (one way or another...) as I'm really pessimistic given Kalypso's track record.

This game looks like it could be something. I love prohibition era stuff so I'll probably like this too, unless they mess it up.

So, keeping watch.

So demo came out today ( will link later find on rock paper shotgun )

I don't know I really don't. I like the feel off it like what gangsters 3 should have been. But then it rams down story, linearity, limited scope, turn based combat. And it just does not feel like your running a criminal empire but a small gang.... Also I have seen end game even at end you only have max of 7 people doing things.

And building stuff... Ehh I can count on two hands the different types of buildings you can own.

In all I want it to be gangsters so badly but in my opinion it's to linear and the turn based combats tries to hard. And it's fucking annoying doing a mission to only get thrown into combat with no warning

After going through at least 3 reviews of it, I can't in good conscious buy it at release price. It's middling at best, in the eyes of RPS, and leaves them wishing for things it doesn't do instead of enjoying the things it does do.

Eh, I enjoyed it, but my expectations were low. For $33 it's a buy for me. I split the 2 pack with a friend, so it was $25 or 26.

Moderately enjoyed the demo. Will probably play it, skipping all the dumb combat.
