Vote for me: Uh, look, I don't think I really need to put anything here, seeing as everyone is already voting for me.More specifically, it's an amusing- and, when you think about it, intriguing- concept; a race of parasitic jokers. On the one hand, haha, they just run around making jokes all day, what a silly people. On the other- they run around making jokes all day. How do they eat? Where do they live? Answer: they eat scraps and live under rocks. How does such a society function? How do others react to these societies? And, of course, what sort of
craaaazy hijinks can they get up to?
Also we have to vote ourselves. Okay, yeah. All proposed races are interesting, to be sure. Which are the most interesting? I dunno. Which would make the most interesting hosts for the Jesters?
-The Jesters (duh)
-The Cici: Happy, carefree bird-things, plentiful food, and all sorts of interesting flora an fauna: Yes, there will be japes to be had here aplenty.
-The Talids: What happens when parasitic Jesters take the form of mind-controlling Talids? I dunno, but I wanna find out.
-The Glatt: These guys seem to be all serious business, and their homeworld brimming with things that have "DO NOT TOUCH" written on them in great big glowing letters. Jester paradise, methinks.
-The Simirian: Cowardly little newt-things. A good species to feed off of in times of weakness: the cowards will be unable to drive the Jesters off.
Also, some, ah, additional information about the Jesters.
My Thoughts: The Jesters here have potential, but I am worried that some things still arn't fleshed out. For this to work, you need to either get an agreement with another race to let your species live within them, that will define your world and hosts, or make up a new set of hosts and world to be a part of. I think for this the jesters will have a hard time to start, as most of the initial goals will need to be about food gathering and getting shelters built and so on. If they can manage to survive(they should, since we are writing stories in this game and can push things to the most interesting) they should do much better when the tribes begin to interact and evolve the more advanced topics like trading, currency, schooling etc. I'm also a bit concerned about writing this myself. I'm not the best at writing comedy, and being funny with text can be extremely difficult at times. Nuke is still welcome to try, but I expect it will be a hard road.
-I hope to hitch a ride on someone else's world, yes. I could start on generic mcboring world, but I thought starting right next to someone else will help the action heat up faster, lest the early game be years of folks just building up society.
-Jesters will have a hard time surviving, considering their weakness in the labour department. Hence their parasitic nature: What they can't make themselves, they steal from others.
-I like to consider myself a funny guy, and a good writer. I also like to consider myself modest and handsome, so my opinion may not be the most accurate.
I like these. The constant joke thing gives them that inhuman goal bit that tends to be the difference between inhuman and human with a weird diet or something. That said... they're also kind of aimless. Is running around pulling pranks on people really going to be a sustainable goal to bring them to a proper civilization? I guess it could be.
-Maybe not. Maybe Jesters aren't cut out for sustainable civilization, but rather will constantly live as outsiders to the civilizations of others. Like gypsies.
Also also, I made my application fairly short and concise 'cos I thought that was the idea. The Jesters, as a race and a people, are already well developed in the fathomless depths of my mind.
