I really have no idea if I am past the deadline or not, but I'm going to post this anyway.

Alrighty, got the days mixed up, so there was an extra day in here. We have a total of 9 applicants. Not counting Armok since it seems he wanted to pull out(let me know if otherwise).

So, as a roll call, I'd like people to post in this thread, and give me a list from what you most would like to read about, to your worse. Once I hear from everyone(or at least a majority, or a couple days has passed), I will tally the votes, and the top 4-5 will become players, and we will begin.

I encourage ANYONE, not just the applicants to go ahead and give me a list like this as well. What of these applicants do you find the most interesting and want to see a game on?

Counting yourself? This would be easier if it were a poll, ya know.

If someone knows of a way on these forums to add in a poll to a thread that has already started, do let me know. You are correct that a poll with multiple options would be better, but short of starting a whole new thread, I can't figure out how to start one. Plus as I said, I'm using the voting as a sort of test for activity or role call, so I know who is still reading the thread and willing to respond and so on.

Top of the page, next to reply, there should be an add poll button.

Ok so I'm a bit blind, was looking in the first post edit window someplace. Fixed, and poll added, but I still need the applicants to post in the thread, so I know they are all here and accounted for. With a reason you think your application should be voted for. Though that's a bit more political than I was going for. xD Either way, the poll has a timestamp of 5 days. After that I'll have the initial write up done, and set some challenges as we can all get started.

My thoughts on the 2 new groups:

Glarrock - I only count three creatures, not four. It's creative, but going to be a bit difficult to produce a sentience through all three. Are they all going to be sentient? Will one become dominant. At the same time, you are going to have to write three times as much as anyone else, and that worries me some. It seems much less Symbiotic, and more that the rat species is your race, while the lichen and turtle belong as part of the world description for the rats.

Dakamerawa - I like the race description, and the world(though the world could use a bit more fleshing out, it's a good start and will come as we go), however the personality will be a challenge. How do you write about the civilization of a species that scatters and runs at the drop of a hat. With no diplomacy, no loyalty, and no sense of fighting for what you want, it seems like any sort of civ will fall apart. The challenge here is to come up with a reasonable explanation as to why you do the things you do that lead to civilization.

1. Lichen are a symbiotic lifeform of fungi and algae.
2. The Lichen isn't going to become sentient. They are just Lichen. As for the 2 other species, they can "communicate" through biochemical  signals, so they aren't exact seperate entities. The turtles are somewhat sentient, but the rats will be the only ones to use actual tools and stuff.

*Not exactly talking, but they can manipulate each other

Reason? Ok.

Well, lets see. Marsupials are an under-represented adaption in any game involving races. When was the last time you saw a race of of intelligent kangaroos or dire tasmanian tigers? Thought so. While my race is no at all what one would consider a marsupial, its technically one. Besides, when was the last time you saw marsupial crows who harvest parasitic vines and herded kangaroos?

The uniqueness aside, I'd like to implement my race as the area they themselves inhabit is interesting. A cold mountainous forest brimming with life. On one side, an exotic canopy of life with lifeforms that have adapted to amazingly strange conditions, to a dark underbelly that has not been truly defined. Oh, and we have gliding bears. How's that for originality and wierdness?

EDIT: Oh right, and my tribe's natural curiosity would mean that they would sooner interact with other tribes and environments.

Well, my reason is that I believe I have given myself a basis for a tribe that over generations as the possibility to splinter off into multiple distinct groups depending on the length of time this game encompasses.  The fungal-born would eventually have the opportunity to live more then just a few short brutal years but would have drastically different dietary and environmental needs to the Sprouted.

As well I believe that the world would carry with it the opportunity for many drastically different settings and harsh landscapes.  Not only is water, light and soil an intensely fought over resource in Roil Canyon, as well as the fact that a plant race that starts out very small is for all definition of the word currently little more then intelligent food.  My race is starting out newly evolved (sentience is only supposed to have been gained 4-6 generations ago, which is an aspect as to why every member is so diverse, they have yet to settle on one efficient form.) as well as the fact that the tribe is intended to be mostly children, gives me many opportunities for writing as they grow, adapt, and lose members to the inevitable dangers.

2.Jesters (Zyruis)
3.The Sprouted (Me :p)
4.Blood Tribe (Ukranian)
5.Sheaylicai (Taricus)

Very, very good therapy.  :P

But no seriously, I want them to not so much disband whenever something comes to kill them, but it's every creature for themself. They have no idea of protecting eachother, though they might help eachother escape if there's no risk to them. Once the danger has passed they would join back up and pick up the pieces. I want to play them like this to give myself a serious challenge in trying to create an inspirational leader that would turn their perception of their place in the world around and stop them from fragmenting.

P.S. the world I would put them in is insanely dangerous. Giant predatory amphibians the size of buses, giant flying reptiles, gargantuan serpents in the sea, basically whatever sounds dangerous. And here there are some nice little timid things that I need to keep alive. As I said, a challenge.

Why vote for me?

1) I want to create a society with quite unique and complex religion and ethics.
2) I am sure that Island will provide many interesting storytelling opportunities
3) I suspect that I will wage many fun wars. Both with other tribes and all that monsters that will try to eat tasty carrots. And my armies will be... unusual. Think about all that weird animals  that are as smart as a human and working in a close cooperation
4) We need at least  one plant race because they are cool or two to have two races competing for similar resources
