Advent of the End Times, Tale of a Demon - Three Paths Before You
« Reply #32 on: September 17, 2012, 07:39:17 pm »

"I shall stand here, today I shall show you fools who think to control me the true power of one who can fight a God." You reply in answer to Rafieal's question, he seems undisturbed by your answer and continues to smile in spite of the consequences of what you said. He turns to the door, and replies back,

"If that is your wish so be it, but your power has faded Advent, even I who has just a quarter of a God's power am on even ground with you, and the world has .. changed since you were. You will find things are not as they were in your past, and that the Gods are not as strong as they once were."

Turning away from you he begins to order about more men that poor into the room from the various hallways, many of them bear wounds and bandages all over, and many more wear armor covered in cuts, nicks, and indents. As you watch the men move you sense it before it happens, something powerful is coming to you, you feel fear, fear that you haven't felt in many eons. Turning to the door dozens of flames flicker into life around you, soldiers look at you in shock, but all is shadowed as the doors evaporate before your very eyes.

The flames flicker into action striking at the new arrival while clouds dust and sawdust cloud him from view, the flames forming almost a wall seeking to devour all in its path. The soldiers, and even Rafieal find themselves frozen with fear, and you struggle to fight the mental army attacking your mind. You watch as the flames stop in mid-air and a wall of air hits you pushing your new form back two steps before you manage to stand your ground. A chuckle emanates from behind the wall of flames as a man's voice makes its way to you,

"Advent it has been so long my friend, can you not remember your former friend is that so, or do you just detest me so much my friend? It does not matter for we both know your powers are weakened, a demon such as yourself does not attain his true power till some time after he is summoned. Such a weak demon, I can't believe this visage before me was the once great Advent who fought the God of War and stood his ground till the very end."

A silence falls and is followed by a drop in temperature in the room, as you watch the flames freeze solid before your eyes and fall to the ground to shatter harmlessly. The cause of this appears to be a human man standing alone in the pitch black of the hallway, his hair is an unusual orange color, and sticks out in spikes in all directions. His eyes are the color of blood, and they bear the look of a predator as they stare at the vessel you've taken, his piercing gaze brings a feeling of some sort to the back of your mind. The feeling is something foreign to you, fear, as if you were a mere human the presence of this man brings fear to you, and as he watches you a smile springs to his face.

"How you have fallen from those times my friend, you feel fear from my presence do you not? Good, you should fear me, I have grown much stronger then you in my many years of living in this forsaken hole. The world is changing Advent, sadly you aren't part of that change."

You jump to the side as the man finishes and just as you move out of the way a spear smashes through the spot where your chest-plate was moments before. Even as you dodge the first attack the man is moving, and he reaches you far faster then you have time to react, a sword flicks into his hand as if from nowhere, and you watch as its blade made from a deep red metal flashes out. You start to bring your sword up to block, but feel the blade shear through the shoulder of the armor as it falls to the floor and is crushed beneath your foot.

You and the man bring your swords together time, and time again, sparks fly as the metal of the blades collide with each other or scrape off the edge of the blade before coming back up for another attack. As the fight drags on you feel barbs begin to dig their way into your mind, you feel the presence of your opponents mind trying to crush your will, and as you feel him press against that mental barrier your attacks falter. That falter is only for a moment but its more then enough as his hand lashes out and the sword in your hand is sheared in half along with half the arm that was once holding it before you.

You jump backwards, and flames begin to flicker into life around you as you prepare to fight the man with magic now that you find your vessel without arms to wield a blade, but as you do so you feel something metal dig into the side of the armor's chest-plate. Out of the corner of your eye you see his sword begin to cut through the ancient armor, and within seconds you feel an intense pain, the pain that comes from having your soul torn from its vessel to take it's true form.

Above all odds you manage to keep a semblance of a strengthened form, you form yourself into a small ball of blue witch fire that is the soul of a wisp, the flames flicker in and out of existence in your weakened state. The man looks down at you, and the smile slowly fades from his face as a sudden echo of words comes from the hallway leading down to the chamber where the High Priestess is,

"Kings of Old, and Kings of New; That which is the Advent is chained by a human once more, fires of the damned, words of the wicked, life of the innocent, let this Advent be absolved of a crime so as to loosen a burden placed on this here soul. The final chain be damned, price be what is desired, the Advent is in full boat I claim its chain to be of little need."

You feel a string of power slowly trickle into you, and then suddenly its as if a floodgate has burst open and you feel your power return even greater, your flames blaze to even greater magnitudes, but you feel a pain begin to eat at the edge of your consciousness. You look at your former vessel and will it to become once more, and it jumps back together, the man's eyes open slightly wider as you repossess the vessel, but his expression quickly returns to normal.

"What nuisance, well Advent this is where we part ways, I shall let you live this time, come look for me when you are free of your bond to that Priestess. Until then I await the day I can finally destroy your soul like the Gods should have done so long ago, where you go destruction follows and you bring those close to you down to the pits of your hell to suffer. Beware you shall not remain in this world for long Advent, the Gods are weak beyond your imagination Advent, do not hope for them to repair the damage you deal."

With that he places his hand on the armor once again, and you feel a surge of power run through you, then pain and pure blackness of void as the world blinks out around you. You feel pain, and you hear ... the screams of pain of two women, one you think is the High Priestess, but the other you do not know ... all you know is her voice is familiar and you feel happy to hear it once again. You start to think of who it is, but your mind takes over, "Sleep, sleep would be good ... even a Demon must rest." With that the world fades from existence entirely.

------

You awake to find yourself lying on the stone platform you were summoned to, the room is cleaned of much of what once remained, all that fills the room are a few candles to provide light and a heavy covering of glyphs covering the walls. You move and find yourself still in the armor you had taken as your vessel though you find several dents to cover it, and the nicks, cuts, etc. have not yet been worked out. Looking about the room for exits you see the doors leading further up into the keep before you, drove on by your curiosity you throw the doors open and find a diverging hallway before you.

There are three paths before you, the first is a staircase carved from the stones of the earth heading further up into the castle, to the throne room you believe. The second is a straight hallway further into the darkness beyond, you sense some people down that way, they feel to have lost hope of every escaping and you can tell many of them are criminals that have been locked in here for years. The third path is a hallway slowly descending into the depths of the earth, you feel a draft of wind coming up from below, and a similar blank spot to the one created by the priest yesterday fills your mind. Which way do you go, and what do you do?

As a wisp, can we devour souls? If so, go down the second passage. if not, go down the third passage to see what's down there. (Escape, maybe?)

You look down the left hallway, and the absence of space in your mind grows more apparent, but you get the feeling its not a barrier like the one the priest summoned ... your just not sure what it is. You begin walking down the hallway, its walls quickly fade from the chiseled stones, and wooden iron topped beams to carved stone walls supported by two foot thick timbers. You feel the air grow cold as you travel deeper into the tunnel. Light becomes more sparse as the lights go from lanterns to small fire every hundred feet, from their feel you sense a faint magical power keeping them going, but you note little else as you continue on.

You feel damp air on your armor as you turn a corner in front of you, and beyond it lies a massive cavern stretching far up above. In the middle of the cavern, floating above a deep pool of water solid as glass, a massive crystal floats freely bobbing up and down as its weight pulls at whatever is holding it up. You reach out to feel for the magic holding it in place, but something blocks it out, you reach for the thread of magic within you, and fill not but air. You panic slightly, and within seconds find the sword you took in your hands, looking around you see nothing other then the crystal that dominates the cavern, radiating a slightly entrancing light.

The crystal seems to draw you towards it as you take step after step towards the bluish-white streaked thing before you, at first you think you hear the crystal talking, but just as soon as you come to that conclusion it falls silent. Stretching out the metal gauntlet that is your hand you touch the crystal and the flames that surrounded the armor seem to grow as if to consume the crystal. The flames stop after spreading only a foot or two in every direction from your hand, and as the flames stop growing you feel something ... sliding across the thin veil you've come to realize as your soul. You have only seconds to feel shock as the veil shatters at the touch, you feel your soul draining away at the same time as your vessel begins to fall to the cavern floor.

With a thud your gone and you wait for that void to embrace you once more, for the wait to be reincarnated or summoned to commence once more, but what awaits you is something different altogether.

Where you expected that lifeless, endless void you find a small island surrounded by oceans to either side you can see. Before you lies a half-circle of trees with a clearing in the center. The clearing is occupied on the far side by a high backed throne, all form of weapon is carved into its surface, and upon that throne sits a man. The man looks as if he was chiseled from stone, the scars that mar his face a simply part of the carving, but as you stare at him the man stands up and walks towards you.

Every step he comes closer you feel a weight pressing down on you, by the time he stands before you it feels as if a castle rests upon your shoulders, threatening to crush you if you ever falter. The man's face is dominated by a smile that doesn't quite seem to reach his eyes, his eyes a deep blue that seem to drill into as you take a half-step back to reduce some of the weight attempting to crush you. The man begins to grin as you step back and his voice seems to come from all around as if the air was the man before you as well,

"It does seem so, Advent I assume? Yes, yes of course no other demon would be allowed to see this so you must be him. Of course, of course now what was I to do when you came here, what?"

Taking a brief pause the man leans back as if against a wall, and runs his fingers through his hair a few times. As if suddenly remembering what he was meant to say he grins again, and continues where he left off.

"Ah yes, the red voice says I'm supposed to tell you about what he wishes to do, the red voice says he is the God of War, but how can that be he's a voice? Never mind, never mind the red voice tells me it is unimportant, the red voice also tells me that the one you serve is the only one who can redeem you, and that you must listen if you want redemption."

The man lets out a long laugh and turns back towards the throne among the trees, instead of walking to the throne he seems to just ... appear there sitting in the throne as a block of earth rises from the ground before him. You wait a second, wary of the supposedly crazy man before you, but you continue on despite that believing what the man said to be true despite the madness that is truly present in the man. Growing close you take a look at where the earth had risen from the ground, the block no longer existed for a table had taken its place with a blurred ... map spread across itself, confused by what you see you hear the man's voice speak up once more.

"The red voice says to tell you who I am, the blue voice tells me I am the Voice of the Gods, and the yellow voice says I will be reborn soon, but that that is of little importance to you. They tell me to ask you what you know about your contract, the red voice also says for me to ask you about how the one you serve is, so what is it you about the contract the voices ask about and how is the one you serve the red voice asks about?"

"I know nothing of my contract, most of my memories of my past lives have faded from my reach, all I know is that I am Advent a Demon Warrior who challenged the Gods and was struck down for it."

As you finish speaking the crazed prophet chuckles slightly and mumbles under his breath, after a few minutes of what seems to be muttered arguments with the 'voices' in his head the man stands up onto the balls of his feet, his laugh coming from nearly everywhere. Shaking his head he points to the blurred map before, a tiny part takes shape and forms the Fortress of Blood and the surrounding city of Stone-shattered as the Prophet speaks once more,

"The contract was made here where you were summoned the voices say, they say it was made on that faithful day you fought the God of War, the red voice says that for many eons you have battled the Gods for retribution of some crime you believed they committed. The black voice says that through your eons of battle the Gods have beat you many times, and the for each battle you fought, each rule you broke he wove a new chain to your soul to bind you to the Realm of Death the home of the Demons.

It was in your last battle with the Gods that the God of War was finally drove to action against you as you slew his daughter on the place where the Fortress of Blood now stands. In rage he came to you in his true form and went against you in battle, your battle lasted for days and when it was done thousands lay dead on both sides. There you were laying a broken heap before the corpse the God's daughter, there upon that field the God of War took from you your true power and used it to bring back the daughter he had lost in the end binding you to the new bloodline of the Priestesses of the God of War.

You are bound to serve the bloodline of the Priestess for the entirety of your existence, the red voice says that there are only two ways to earn your freedom. The first is to to have your very being burnt from the world, and the second is to serve the Gods to earn your retribution. The voices say that your chance for the second is coming soon, but they also say my time here is coming to an end, even to me this seems true for I can think clearer then ever before. They say I shall be reborn soon, and that perhaps I shall be a guide to you, but whose to say the blue voice says 'Things are ever changing.'

Now the voices say this is all they can do, but I myself think I can do something to help. My existence here is fading, but I feel a great power coming to me, perhaps you were the key to my rebirth? But that does not matter, think of a single thing Advent, a single idea, an object, a person, or whatever you wish & keep your mind on that single thing."

Oh hey missed this :-[. I propose we concetrate on our favorite weapon 'The Soul Reaver' (corny name I know Im sleepy) Gaint Two handed Sythe that lives to eat souls. We were able to pry it off the God of Death's Right-handman in single combat making it our's by right of winner. I mean we apparently fought more than the God of War before so I think it's possible.

Advent of the End Times, Tale of a Demon - The Crazed Prophet
« Reply #44 on: January 26, 2013, 05:55:59 am »

You focus all your thoughts on the first thing that comes to you, a massive scythe of a twisted red metal blade somehow resembling a crows beak and a jet black crudely whittled from whatever it used to be. You hear no words spoken, but you feel the Prophet lay his hand upon your vessel's head and with a painful pull that feels as if your soul is being torn from your new shell. After what seems like an hour you hear a faint clash of metal on stone, and open your eyes to find the cavern now pitch dark, the only source of life being the ethereal flames that envelop your battered armor. The crystal lies before you with its light gone, and it is sunk deep into the stone beneath where it once floated dimly in the air, the cavern feels cold and lifeless as you force yourself up to begin the trek back up to the stairs.

Your travels pack to the stairs leading up and the dimly lit corridor leading to the cells passes quickly as you think over what happened back in that half-world or whatever it was. You can remember it clearly all except for the very end, just what was it you chose to focus on? No matter how hard you think the answer alludes you like smoke slipping through your fingers till you find yourself standing at the base of those stairs staring up them at a richly engraved door at the top. Stalking up them stairs you reach the top and set your hand to the door, giving it a slight push it opens soundlessly to reveal a large hall beyond, you vaguely remember it as the place you made your stand against whatever thing it was that beat you half to death.

This time though you find a massive chair, a heavily gilded throne, obscuring most of your of the chamber's floor beyond. To either side of the chair you can make out the forms of several priests and even a few guards wearing crimson & black armor that you don't remember seeing on any of the soldiers before hand. Shaking your vessel's misshapen metal lump of a head you make your way around the assembled priests and troops to get a clear room of the room beyond, most of the men assembled beside the throne open their eyes and horror. You take great delight as two of the priests faint, dropping like sacks of rocks thrown from a tower, looking at the throne you find the High-Priestess sitting upon it looking tired and drained from long days of work. Noticing you she waves you forward, and quickly makes the petitioner she was speaking to step aside so you can take his place, stepping before her you sigh inwardly as she begins to talk straightaway,

"Advent I thank you for aiding us in protecting the temple, we may not have survived this assault with out you, but as it is I must now honor my side of the bargain my Father made with you. You may now roam free on the world doing as you see fit so long as it does not harm me, my lands, or its people. You will return if and when I call for you, until then begone from my sight, my steward will give you a small reward for your aid."

With that you nod and take your leave walking through the now empty tunnel, as you plod along you notice a thin blonde haired man in crimson robes stride up to walk beside you as you make your way out the main gates of the temple. Stopping outside you turn to him as he silently hands you a purse, which upon opening it you find contains gold. As the man slinks away one thought pervades your mind, 'Your free, free to do as you wish.'
