How come a training doll would give us 'greater freedom of movement'? They don't have legs, you know. ;)
Its a magical training dummy that has legs for sparring? :P

You can change your vessel, but it takes time to switch between them once you've already moved into a vessel and some time to adapt to the vessel itself.

lets take the armor. we can always take weapons from a soldier and the intimidation factor will be useful.

Go for wooden training doll,pick a spear from one of the weapon racks and a sword if we have somewhere to put it or the armory has something we can attach to our self,then proceed to do a mix of stabbing and slashing at the invaders if they're at a range we can use the spear safely,or the sword if they're close enough.We should also fire off a few Fear spells,some at the enemy,some "accidentally" hitting the soldiers that are defending.

I'm going to give an explanation for physical stats for now, the three mental ones will come later, if there is anything you are wondering please do ask :) I'll have an update up later tonight as I have a good chunk of it typed up already.

Physical Attributes:

Strength: Strength determines various things, some actions will not be possible for weaker foes, or even you. For example shattering a city gate with a punch from you would require a strength of 20 or so, to much less and the arm of your vessel, or the entire vessel itself could shatter. Strength also gives bonus to damage in the form of extra die or dice upgrades (Ex: Strength of 10 would make a 1d3 damage with a weapon go to 1d6, Strength of 20 would make that 1d6 go to 2d3, and so on.) Some weapons will have strength requirements for you to wield, and for every five points of strength you gain an additional two slots in your inventory on top of the starting three.

Endurance: Endurance mainly concerns the amount of HP you have, for every point of endurance you have you will get three hit points (This can be adjusted by skills you gain throughout the game or artifacts you happen to obtain.) Endurance also determines the amount of Physical Stamina one has, but since you are a Wisp Mental Stamina takes its place and you will instead expend when you fight with weapons and skills related to normal combat.

Agility: Agility determines your speed, and grace in combat. High agility will allow you to dodge attacks of enemies whose agility is lower then yours. (Ex: You have 5 Agility, and a normal soldier attacks you, his agility is 3. You are thus able to dodge his attack by rolling a 1d10 and scoring 6 or higher on the roll) If you agility is 3 points or higher above your foes agility then your dodge is instead a counterattack that is rolled on a 1d10 as well. 1-4, your hit. 5-8, you dodge. And 9-10 you counter and return the attack.

Confident in your strengths, and wary of just how suitable a wooden doll would be for your vessel you settle on the suit of armor, for a split second your form wavers and then blinks out of existence. The last thing you see is a startled expression on the woman's face before it is replaced by the feeling of cool iron and a vaguely human form that slowly starts to heat up as your form inhabits it and blue flames engulf the suit of armor you assume to be an heirloom. Taking no time to get used to your new form and relying solely on past experience you walk over to the glass case and smash the glass as you reach in, and grasp the handle of the sword. Drawing it out you take a few seconds to examine it, scanning your eyes up and down the blade before deciding it fit for your use, grasping it tighter in your hand you walk over to the door and push it open.

As the door swings open it falls off its frame and smashes onto the floor splintering into multiple pieces, the cause is a large two handed sword, with half of the blade broken off, drove into it. In the room beyond you find three soldiers clearly aligned with the temple facing off against seven soldiers, of a nation your memory says is Lagrade, one of the men among them wears the garb of a priest and wields a two handed sword as he hacks at the temple soldiers. Angered by the mere presence of the priest you launch yourself at him, dashing across the floor with great speed the priest barely brings his blade around in time to block your sword from chopping off his head. Tilting your vessel to the side you dodge the priest's slow counterattack and flick your blade up, as it goes above your head it is followed by a trickle of blood and one of the man's fingers, severed from its hand it flies off into the distance. The foul priest lets out a small roar of pain and four of the Lagrade soldiers turn to face you.

Launching back you lash out your blade once more, and leave a deep cut in the man's arm before turning to face your attackers in earnest, blood flows freely from the wound but the determined priest launches himself into the fray hacking at you with a renewed vigor. Weaving in and out of the group of soldiers your vessel suffers a few nicks and slashes as you try to ward off the enemy who has the numerical advantage. Your blade lashes out numerous times, but it bounces off plated parts of armor, the hafts of spears, and the blades of swords as you try to no end to bring about the humans death. In the background you hear a battle being waged between the remaining temple soldiers and the three Lagrade soldiers who stayed to hold them away from the fight with the demon, giving it a quick look you see them evenly matched as the temple soldiers gain some ground due to their advantages of having a sword.

Turning quickly back to your fight your just in time to catch the priest's sword before it cleaves the helmet from your vessel, pushing the massive sword aside your blade is consumed by a blue flame as you launch for the finishing strike. Your blade burns through the man's armor and plunges into his heart, in response the disgusting existence of the priest ends as he is consumed by blue flames, flicking your blade to the side you catch the Lagrade captain's blade on your hilt and kick him is his side. Upon the kicks impact you hear bones crack and he stumbles backward as his breastplate caves in from your strength, coughing blood he distances himself from you and the soldiers rush in to cut you off from finishing the man, not before you bring your hand up and a ball of fire launches from your hand to consume the man. Weaving in and out of the Lagrade scum's blades you make a few futile slashes at the soldiers trying to drive them back but their determination does not fade before you.

Letting loose a furry of attacks you launch yourself at the pair of soldiers, forgoing defense your blade is little more then a blur as it cuts through armor, skin, and bone alike. Bashing a spear out of your way you free one of the two of his head and turn to face the last one, two flames flicker into life behind you and fly at the soldier, but he's nimble and dodges out of the way, where moments before he stood a massive scorch mark stands. As he dodges out of the flames path you grasp the sword with two hands and bring it to bear on the soldier, with a sickening sound of flesh tearing and bones being shore in half your blade passes through the last soldier and what remains of him falls to the floor before you. Turning from the sight to see how your allies fared you find only one of them them still standing, a sword covered in blade in one hand and a cracked shield in the other he looks at you with a determined expression, one you've seen before, revenge. Such a tasty emotion you think before turning to the sound of footsteps coming towards you.

You whirl around and bring your blade to the neck of one of the newcomers only to find it to be one of the temple soldiers, lowering your blade you watch as two more men enter the hall, one of them wearing a helmet with a plume and the symbol of the War-God on his shield. He nods to you as he enters, and walks towards you, all the while giving silent orders to the remaining troops, stopping two feet in-front of you the soldier lifts his face-mask and you see a rather chisel-cut man beneath, his eyes a light green and his hair blonde. You sense a strange aura coming from him, but can't quite tell what it is just that being in his presence seems to give you strength and sap it at the same time. As you look at him he speaks, "Hello Advent, I am Rafieal, Captain of the Guard and son of Alfair the Demi-God. I would love it if we could exchange greetings now, but we have two problems at the moment, the first of which is a large group of Lagrade soldiers is coming this way." In answer to his words you hear the sounds of something slamming into metal, and objects being pulled across the floor.

Turning your attention to the gate you find the soldiers have placed a beam across the door, and are now busying themselves moving tables, chairs, and anything else they can get there hands on in-front of the door to slow the enemy down. Rafieal waits for your attention to return back to him before continuing, "The other problem is that the enemy has managed to capture most of the outer wall, and are sending a larger force to enter and wipe us out, we need to regain the gatehouse and ensure that doesn't happen. The High-Priestess requests that you aid us in one of these endeavors, if we regain the gatehouse before the enemy forces get inside we can hold out for a while longer till reinforcements arrive, but if we fail then gathering our forces here and meeting them in open combat to drive them back is what we'll have to do. The choice is yours, either way it doesn't matter your presence will allow us to move men to compensate for your absent at the other location, just freedom to choose as you desire." With that Rafieal fell silent and placed his hand on his sword, relaxing his body in the process, as he waited for your reply.

Ok I think we should fight in the Main Halls because just mass mudering a bunch of foes will help remind people that we are a Demon not only that but we also fought a God and I personally think at the very least we need some more respect around here because
" Advent, or whatever you call yourself, from here on you will be my servant and obey my actions. Your first actions as my servant will be to destroy the forces invading this city and ensure the safety of this Keep along with me."
I dont know about everyone else but I'd be pissed because that aint respect at all I mean come on you do control us and stuff but we've fought a god we are owed some respect and fear would be great too. So I think we need to start our newest life by reminding people of WHO and WHAT we are. So I say grab that newly unownerfide 2 handed sword and start and slaughter the idiot victims (cough) I mean "enemies" that think that they can take us on.

Grab a better sword, and stay in the main hall. When the hordes come, blast them with fear to thin their ranks. Also, pick up a shield or something. If there are any archerss, lob a fireball their way.


By the way, what sort of potential vessels are around?

None currently, your far to weak to switch vessels at the moment, it'll be a few days before you can willingly swap to another vessel so your stuck with the current one for now.

Mental Attributes:

Willpower: Willpower is the level of the strength of your mind, the higher it is the larger your mental stamina be and the longer you can hold out against mental attacks and punishment. A soldier with a willpower of 2 would shatter easily before your Fear spell while a similar soldier with a willpower of say 6, would be near impossible to break with a willpower of 5 and the weak version of your Fear spell. The higher your willpower is the stronger the mental abilities you can get and the easier it will be to break those of a lesser willpower.

Charisma: Charisma is how coercive, convincing, conniving, or conflicting you can be and convince people to join a cause you see fit, or influence a person through some small act. Charisma is so far abstract and thus will come into effect only when I feel it would, the lower a charisma score the less it'll take effect. Though its effects may very well have big impacts even if its a low number.

Intelligence: Intelligence is pretty self explanatory, you will only be able to comprehend some things with certain levels of the intelligence stat, and it also has bonuses at intervals of 10. The base intelligence stat for humans is 2, bonuses gained at every 10 interval is a boost to mental stamina and perhaps special unlocks that may or may not occur from dream sequences.

And there is the last of the stats, the turn will most likely be up this weekend it just depends on how long it takes me to iron out the large combat rules to speed battles like this one up considerably.

Short Sword - 1d3
Spear - 1d3
Hand Axe - 1d3
Two-Handed Sword - 1d6

Since this is the prologue the highest damage you will be able to get from a weapon will be 1d6 as any damage die you can get your enemies will have access to (At least for some time into the future).
