Advent of the End Times, Tale of a Demon - Free Reign
« on: August 21, 2012, 04:24:27 pm »

The world is cold, everything around you is the pitch black of an all consuming darkness ... then suddenly a flash as the entire world turns red, the once cold emptiness is gone and now you feel warmth. It bring you blissful pleasure, but only for a moment as you soon realize you have no form, you are simply a consciousness being drawn to ... to somewhere to be born for whatever reason it is your summoner calls you. Past memories of such things fill your head, and the basics of what happens when you are summoned go through fill your mind with details, but everything that happened after those incidents is gone. Slowly your mind wraps around what must be done an you begin to think ...

What Form should you take ...

Should you take the form of an Imp, a mischievous demon who dabbles in the art of magics and is skilled in hiding from those that seek him. You would have control over the basics of fire and illusion magics, but your small figure, despite giving you great speed and a intellect capable of much, would leave you weak to the influences of the world you are being born into. You would be quiet the cunning mastermind, wielding magic to defeat your foes alongside your wit to turn your foes to allies, such things are possible with the benefits this form gives.

Or should you take on the form of a Wraith, a demon skilled in the arts of close combat and impervious to almost all forms of weaponry that your foes could muster. You would have the handle of the basics of fighting with some weapons, and the arms of puny races would not even phase your fear inducing form as you went about your desires. Your form would grant you both speed and strength but your overall ability to consume knowledge and take hits from the more powerful of weapons would be small due to the weaknesses of such demons.

Or should you take the form of a Wisp, a being with the ability to take control of inanimate objects and animals to use as you wish, even warping their appearance to some extent to a form you find more appealing. You would be a master at magic and intellects, but the penalties of this form are that the rest of your strengths rely entirely on the object you inhabit and the power of your body. Should your container be destroyed then your fragile true form shall be exposed to the world, and you shall be destined to die.

From the memories you could gather your Past was ...

That of a Warrior, holding some esteem in honour you fought your opponents on as even ground as they could find, your memories contain hundreds of battles, and even entire wars that you fought in, both under your own will or the desire of some far stronger force. There is even several partial memories of you fighting other of your kind, even one of you fighting a god, though you were struck down within seconds of the fight breaking out you still take pride in having faced someone so powerful and not wavering. You have died thousands of time to honourable men far more skilled and powerful then you, but you do not hold it against them for warriors live to be reborn into the world to fight once more, a never-ending cycle of death.

Or that of a Arch-Mage, a master of magical arts your memories are filled with battles between fellow mages, constant research of new spells, new magics, and new ways to use them to kill or maim your enemies. You've once wielded great magics, destroyed entire villages, armies, and even mountains in your quest for power, but even Arch-Mages die for there are many memories of those, some of arrows striking you, some of swords piercing your heat, but the effect is all the same you continued going back to this formless state.

Or that of a Assassin, just as deadly with a blade as you were convincing with your tongue your memories are filled with hunts looking for your targets, and long hours of waiting to kill your target in silence. You lead dozens of skilled men in such act and even led hundreds more to war some times, but above all else you killed those who opposed you in ways to shatter the determination of men. The times you had taken form to walk the lands, entire nations were thrown into chaos, and the world turned to war as a result of your actions, but even great killers must die, visions of your target being a fake, or the men you lead to war dying before the might of stronger mean, you have died many times and yet come back to walk these lands and leave the flames of chaos in your wake.

In the distance you can hear a voice filling the red void, it is a pleasant voice and it calls to you, "What is your name, you that I have summoned?"

You grin, at least as well as you can with no mouth, as the voice asks you its question, from the voice alone you know the owner to be human, knowing this you reply. "I am Advent, I am the one who has fought even the Gods, I have taken many forms before, and I have killed thousands of your kind through my existence, and I have saved just as many more at my whims." You say, and as you speak you fill your body take its form, blissful heat fills the entirety of your consciousness for a few moments, but an even better thing catches your attention as you awaken. Light blue flames flicker across your vision as you look through your new eyes for the first time, for the hundredth or more time, you knew you had been born many times before this, but this time was different. The memories were sharper, clearer then the few that remained of your past incarnations, and before your summoner kneels at the foot of a raised platform. A complex summoning circle is drawn on the platform, fires blaze in the corners, blood is splattered throughout it, and the constant prayer of priests constantly gnaws at the back of your mind.

You ignore the constant pain you feel, and look at the one who summoned you, a woman kneels on the floor with blood seeping from cuts on her hands down onto the floor, her red hair brushes the floor as her head is bent down, and the pleasant voice you heard during your summoning sits before you trying to coherently say the prayers required to restrain you. Seeing the situation you scan the room with a flash of what this form has in the way of eyes and take in all you can see, the room is a chamber made from plain granite stones, a massive inlaid iron door is the only thing that breaks the plainness of the wall other then the rare head of a hooded priest as two dozen or so sit scattered about the room in constant prayer. You feel deep hatred as you look at the priests, they had the ability to weaken you with mere words, though these were not as strong as they were in the old days they made up for this in numbers. Several runes are carved into the floors, and at the corners of the floor beneath platform, you smirk at them as you notice many of them are fractured or written incorrectly.

Turning your attention back to the woman you find her somewhat recovered as she hastily finishes the last of the summoning ritual, as she finishes a searing pain floods through your body and to all looking at you your flames flicker out of existence for a moment before coming back, but weakened as the flames had dimmed somewhat. She slumps back in the seat slightly and you see her face, a pained expression crosses it for a few seconds, but disappears as she wipes her forehead with the sleeve of her robes. Her face is quite beautiful and if it had been another time you might have wanted to make her your slave, but as you think this she looks at your form and speaks up, "Demon, I am the High-Priestess of the God of War, Tc'lonak. The god you rose up against in your previous incarnation, as payment for your sins he bound you to the blood-line of his High-Priestesses, and now I find it time to repay your debts. Advent, or whatever you call yourself, from here on you will be my servant and obey my actions. Your first actions as my servant will be to destroy the forces invading this city and ensure the safety of this Keep along with me."

Her words fill your mind, and your body begins to search for a vessel on its own as it moves to follow the woman's order, but you resist. After several seconds of struggling you manage to gain control of your form, but a new pain begins to eat at you as you struggle to fight against here orders. Reaching out into the area surrounding you to look for a vessel you search through various rooms of the Keep you are charged with protecting.

The Vessel you take ...

Is a suit of armor of study iron in a scarcely decorated room off the main hall of the Keep, a few chairs, some tapestries, and a rusty sword lying in a glass case is all that fills the room. Outside of it you find ... blackness as if someone is blocking your consciousness from entering the room, you can feel the emotions and feelings of a battle coming from within, but all else is black. This vessel would give you a sturdy defense to protect from attacks, but would leave you less equipped and would put you straight into the battle raging within the Keep.

Or is it a wooden training doll in what you assume to be an armory/barracks a small ways from the main hall of the Keep, but with some wounded humans scattered in the rooms and halls nearby. The room is filled with all sorts of weapons, spears, swords, shields, bows, and much more line the walls and rows of beds cover one wall of the room, even from here you can feel the black spot where the main hall should be, but its fainter here from such a great distance. This vessel would be weaker physically and endurance wise, but it would give you greater freedom of movement, far superior equipment, and maybe even the chance to corrupt the minds of these humans to your will.

The sturdy armor may be the best bet and we can always take the weapons from the people we kill. Not to mention the sight of an ancient warrior coming to fight will encourage our allies.

Possess the armour. We can, after all, shoot fire at our enemies, and make them flee before us.

I think A suit of amrour, shrouded in fire and blasting them with waves of supernatural terror would be quite the sight.

How come a training doll would give us 'greater freedom of movement'? They don't have legs, you know. ;)
