You grin, at least as well as you can with no mouth, as the voice asks you its question, from the voice alone you know the owner to be human, knowing this you reply.
"I am Advent, I am the one who has fought even the Gods, I have taken many forms before, and I have killed thousands of your kind through my existence, and I have saved just as many more at my whims." You say, and as you speak you fill your body take its form, blissful heat fills the entirety of your consciousness for a few moments, but an even better thing catches your attention as you awaken. Light blue flames flicker across your vision as you look through your new eyes for the first time, for the hundredth or more time, you knew you had been born many times before this, but this time was different. The memories were sharper, clearer then the few that remained of your past incarnations, and before your summoner kneels at the foot of a raised platform. A complex summoning circle is drawn on the platform, fires blaze in the corners, blood is splattered throughout it, and the constant prayer of priests constantly gnaws at the back of your mind.
You ignore the constant pain you feel, and look at the one who summoned you, a woman kneels on the floor with blood seeping from cuts on her hands down onto the floor, her red hair brushes the floor as her head is bent down, and the pleasant voice you heard during your summoning sits before you trying to coherently say the prayers required to restrain you. Seeing the situation you scan the room with a flash of what this form has in the way of eyes and take in all you can see, the room is a chamber made from plain granite stones, a massive inlaid iron door is the only thing that breaks the plainness of the wall other then the rare head of a hooded priest as two dozen or so sit scattered about the room in constant prayer. You feel deep hatred as you look at the priests, they had the ability to weaken you with mere words, though these were not as strong as they were in the old days they made up for this in numbers. Several runes are carved into the floors, and at the corners of the floor beneath platform, you smirk at them as you notice many of them are fractured or written incorrectly.
Turning your attention back to the woman you find her somewhat recovered as she hastily finishes the last of the summoning ritual, as she finishes a searing pain floods through your body and to all looking at you your flames flicker out of existence for a moment before coming back, but weakened as the flames had dimmed somewhat. She slumps back in the seat slightly and you see her face, a pained expression crosses it for a few seconds, but disappears as she wipes her forehead with the sleeve of her robes. Her face is quite beautiful and if it had been another time you might have wanted to make her your slave, but as you think this she looks at your form and speaks up,
"Demon, I am the High-Priestess of the God of War, Tc'lonak. The god you rose up against in your previous incarnation, as payment for your sins he bound you to the blood-line of his High-Priestesses, and now I find it time to repay your debts. Advent, or whatever you call yourself, from here on you will be my servant and obey my actions. Your first actions as my servant will be to destroy the forces invading this city and ensure the safety of this Keep along with me."Her words fill your mind, and your body begins to search for a vessel on its own as it moves to follow the woman's order, but you resist. After several seconds of struggling you manage to gain control of your form, but a new pain begins to eat at you as you struggle to fight against here orders. Reaching out into the area surrounding you to look for a vessel you search through various rooms of the Keep you are charged with protecting.
The Vessel you take ...Is a
suit of armor of study iron in a scarcely decorated room off the main hall of the Keep, a few chairs, some tapestries, and a rusty sword lying in a glass case is all that fills the room. Outside of it you find ... blackness as if someone is blocking your consciousness from entering the room, you can feel the emotions and feelings of a battle coming from within, but all else is black. This vessel would give you a sturdy defense to protect from attacks, but would leave you less equipped and would put you straight into the battle raging within the Keep.
Or is it a
wooden training doll in what you assume to be an armory/barracks a small ways from the main hall of the Keep, but with some wounded humans scattered in the rooms and halls nearby. The room is filled with all sorts of weapons, spears, swords, shields, bows, and much more line the walls and rows of beds cover one wall of the room, even from here you can feel the black spot where the main hall should be, but its fainter here from such a great distance. This vessel would be weaker physically and endurance wise, but it would give you greater freedom of movement, far superior equipment, and maybe even the chance to corrupt the minds of these humans to your will.
