it even wasn't a honorable death, I just messed up

so basically it seems I'm a quite successful overseer defeating sieges and giant birds like cutting butter but I just tend to murder all the dwarfs important to the story

His title was "feeder", I changed it to "Beastslayer". He is also the mayor. He isn't the most skilled dwarf but he had the best weapons.

I traded with dwarven merchants for what little steel items they brought.

Also we now have a fairly useless lava flood thing.

I ordered steel bars and the like from the Mountainhomes. Curiously they don't have iron bars listed, nor any iron ores. How do they make steel?

Luckily this FB is quite slow, I might be able to build walls in time and seal off the main staircase in time.

It moved for a few tiles and the it returned to where it first appeared on map and then vanished O_O.

Hey if for whatever reason that FB comes back just send anyone after it, its made of vomit so one hit will deconstruct it.
Or you could build fortifications around it in a complex web getting scheme....

Yep, this is dwarf fortress. Of all the possible dwarves to stand next to the armed soldier when he goes berserk, it has to be BFEL.

BFEL's dog got cut open.

After killing Markers dog the bloodcrazed speardwarf is chasing BFEL! The speardwarf is wearing an artifact rose gold spear. BFEL you ran in the wrong direction!

Some notes to the next overseer:
There are some gold coffins edit:chests in production, NAV's room needs one.
You might want to turn off the useless lava flood on the bedrooms level if FPS is a concern.
Caverns are unsecured.
Dining hall could be more grand I guess.

I'm not that good storywriter so I just opted for documenting my turn with colorful pictures. But I skipped over some of my management decisions etc. and tried to write about what I thought were the most important or interesting things.

e: What I wanted to say was that do it in any way you like and it'll be fine IMO :D
