Don't see a single pic, but take first, with volcano and aquifer.

I just saw a guy with two broken legs push a minecart with a corpse in it. Yeah.

Okay figured out some screenshots...hopefully they post correctly, my computer is a bitch about showing me images recently so I cant tell from the prefiew
3 diff potential embarks, all in non face melty places:

This one has deep metals, aquifer, flux and a volcano, also its next to a gobbo fort so !FUN!

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Ok for embark number 2 we have deep and shallow metals, but no flux, no aquifer, and a nice little brook

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Embark 3 features THE OCEAN OF BOILYNESS, but still less melty land temp so it should be a bit less difficult then my first attempt...just dont try to go fishing.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

And as a bonus here's the site of my first embark, the one where all the dwarves turned into candles right next to the sea. Notice that the ocean is classified as Joyous Wilds, this is for ALL oceans, so embark site 3 will prob have mermaids and maybe even sea serpents. Just to let you know.

Fixed... sort of. Top three images have been removed. Imageshack has a tendency to remove old images from its system, by the way. Also, posting to watch. I think it'd be Fun if you guys built a magma pump stack.

edit: I'm voting embark #2... Volcanoes tend to be the early death of new players, in my experience, and I'd like to see this fort last longer than a couple years. :P

Here's a tip: anything but imageshack.

Fixed. I definitely vote #2. No aquifer will make things easier. The deepness of the soil in the top and bottom one tends to mean a deeper aquifer, and a lot of advanced players hate multi-level aquifers anyway.

Sounds like fun. I'm not an utter n00b, but haven't really built anything fancier than a wind-powered waterfall, does that count?

If so, I vote for site #2 as well.

Certainly you could argue that DF is a lot like The Sims, only... you know... with more vomit and decapitation.
If you launch a wooden mine cart towards the ocean at a sufficient speed, you can have your entire dwarf sail away in an ark.

If non-newbs can't vote, my vote doesn't count. I'm by no means a new player. I'd just like to see what you guys could do with #2.

Actually the idea behind the fort is for veterans like yourself to give us noobs some direction/goals, then have us produce the most !FUN! possible due to inexperience dealing with such things. Earlier I asked for some potential goals for us to attempt during our turns, there was one about a 3 z-layer waterfall into the meeting hall and then one about minecarts. I have *NO* idea how to produce those things without extreme and hilarious collateral damage. The fort is named TrialFires because its as much a test of our abilities to learn new things as it is a succession game....Also it gives you vets a chance to laugh at us for forgetting that floodgate in the residential area XD...So to answer your question Talvi, yes vets are supposed to be the main voters, we noobs are supposed to deal with the chaos those votes can bring.

The first goal we set for you is to learn how to use IMG and URL tags  8)

Code: [Select]
[img]http://www.YourImagesite.com/filename.png[/img]

This writing is outside the link, maybe a caption for your images

[url=http://www.YourWebsite.com/file.php]text that appears[/url]

Code: [Select]
The point is to use them as matched pairs: begin IMG, end /IMG ....  begin URL, end /URL
[IMG][/img] .... [URL][/URL]

Yours are all nested inside each other
[img][URL][IMG][/img][/URL][URL][/URL][/img]

lol HEY I fixed it! :P jeez give me some credit XD

Turns out the problem was that I deleted the images on the hosting site after posting them, I thought they would stick but yeah in hindsight I realize why that doesn't work like that.

edit: also thinking about doing a quick narrative of the beginning of the journey to...most likely embark 2?...basically give a little backstory and start my overseer on his journey across the DEADLANDS (the melty spots...aka 99% of the map)

I still only see them in Talvieno's post, not yours.  Not trying to give you a hard time, just to help.

Second challenge is to edit your Original Post to a poll so that people can vote easier! :)
