This is going to be an RTD suggestion game, with elements of insanity.

The year is 2126, or at least that's what the year used to be. Many great leaders are proposing that we change it to 1 IDOA, to celebrate one of the greatest events of human kind. Three weeks ago, a planet due to be settled on was scanned, and the results where shocking. A new, self aware alien race. Immediately, tens of thousands of scientists began clamoring to be the first few to study the new species, and the three of you where the ones chosen. You where dispatched nearly a month ago, and this is the day you arrive. Or, at least if feels like a month, for the rest of the world it's been five long years waiting for you to arrive. As the ship begins orbitting, you sign into the computer.

Listen up! My name is General Deros, and I am your commander for this mission! When the issue came through my doors I was in favor of the NUKE THEM approach. However some friends told me that this way would be "Cheaper" and "Less likely to start a war" So, you need to go study them! Make your research quota or I will enact project NUKE THEM! Also, you hgave a budget of 1 million to start, you can requisition more equipment from the orbitter that we sent with you, however it'll take 3 weeks to travel there. The transmission cuts off.

Day 1: Arrival.
You need to get down to the planet, you could opt for just going in and landing, but that might scare the natives. Among your other choices are parachuting into the ocean, and hard drop.

How will you proceed?

The three of you drop into the ocean, it makes for a bumpy ride, but it gets the job done. Yo deploy the boat, and set out for the nearest landmass. Three hours later, you hit shore.

     "It's good to have land under my feet once more, three hours in a boat makes for a hellish ride. We where instructed to each do descriptions of the surroundings so, here goes. Along the coast is sand, much like from Asigon¹, but it turns to dirt about 100 meters from the shore. There are trees growing there, each about five to ten meters tall. I see a single tree in the distance that must be at least 40 meters tall. In-between the trees are bushes, they have a green berry on them, and small scrub. Another notable thing is the reeds, on most planets, reeds only grow in wet soil. The ground here is quite dry, but reed-like plants are everywhere. I would estimate fifteen to twenty percent² of the ground is covered in reeds. They are quite sharp, and I neatly slit my hand on one. There trees seem normal but there is almost no bark, and the wood is soft. The leaves are purple. The ground is soft, but firm enough so we don't sink down. The sand is lighter than on most planets, but that could be because there is very low pollution on this planet. Josepi took atmospheric readings, and the air and pressure are at a near-perfect point for us. We have seen a few birds, but they where shaped more like the old-earth bats then anything we would identify as a bird. The only ground creature we have seen was long and thin, perhaps a meter in length. It had thick fur and scurried away when we found it. The gravity on this planet is strange, I almost forgot to mention that, Josepi says that it's 25% higher than the planet I was born on. That's all for now."
