You know you can turn the 3D off with a slide thingy on the side of the screen right?

I pray to whatever UBERBEINGS there are that it won't be for 3DS, I tried one and it gave me a headache.
Well, the first game relies on a two screen mechanic. Its a pretty safe bet it will be for the 3DS.

Anyways, what predictions to you guys have story/gameplay wise. I'm betting they do one of two things.
-New Characters, Locations
-Prequel with Kamiya(Kazuya) the lolipop guy as a main. A reaper game/section would be interesting. Instead of noise you chase Players across the map, send noise after them(noise types is based on pin/pins), or set up noise ambushes. They probably won't do it but I think it sounds like a good idea.

Worst case scenario:They drag everyone back to Shibuya or uses "alt world" copies. I've seen what Square Enix does with lore where characters have +2 copies of themsleves, it ain't pretty.
I also don't own a 3DS.
I don't own a 3DS either but if this comes to the states along with SMTIV and the Soul Hackers remake, I'll definitely buy one.

Goddamn, I guess I officially need a 3DS. TWEWY is maybe my favourite RPG released in the last decade.

And actually, this reminds me that I should replay the first one, having visited Shibuya since my first playthrough...

From what I understand it's pretty realistically modeled after the city. Theoretically at least, if you knew the game like the back of your hand you'd at least have a general idea of where you were in shibuya in real life, the big 404 building is there, pretty sure the hachiko statue is there, etc, all the major landmarks are fairly solid placement from what I've heard.

I think places and stores are named similarly, like Towa Records being the game counterpart of Tower Records. That might be it, but I'm pretty sure there are others.

I could not figure out how in the what you kept track of anything in the fights, so all I know of twewy is that it gets people excited and I'm terrible at it. Suggestions, while we wait for more stuff to be had?

While you're getting adjusted, set the top screen to auto, it helps a ton. Even then, just button mashing the Dpad during fights got me through the game.  :P

There is one boss fight where you want to turn it back to manual, I cant remember if its due to attacks powering up the boss or because the AI doesn't know how/when to block

Yeah the combat/screen management definitely takes some getting used to. Setting to auto or decreasing the difficulty (I think it has on-the-fly difficulty changing, right?) can help. I had a lot of fun with it, but honestly it's not on my top ten RPGs and it's maybe number 10 on my top ten DS games lists. It's still definitely worth playing, though, and the music is easily my favorite in any RPG I've played (although as mentioned, that's entirely up to personal taste). Also, the weird parallel universe story based on the minigame is pretty fun/hilarious and totally worth playing. You might have to beat the game to unlock it, I don't really remember.

Edit: This is yet another reason for me to finally pick up a 3DS though, so I'll probably end up grabbing one fairly soon. People who have them, would you recommend a regular 3DS or an XL? I've heard the XL might not be as great as it could be because the screen ends up looking a bit stretch in some cases. I guess the XL just came out, so people probably don't have one yet, but I'm sure someone's been reading more reviews than I have.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

As far as awesome DS music goes, for me that award goes to Radiant Historia & Okamiden. But I'll give this a try with those tips, thnk ye's.

Also, RObin: afaik, the 3DS XL is for people with larger hands who couldn't play the 3DS comfortably.

Had to look this up in Wikipedia to figure out what you were talking about. The failure to update the "Reception" section, has made it look like this was a commercial bomb, selling 160,000 copies throughout the entire Western Hemisphere!

This is a mission I can accept. I loved the first game. I'm glad it's getting a sequel.

Yeah, I don't really remember the geography of the game, but I spent the better part of a few days wandering around Shibuya. Which is why it would be extra fun to replay, having been in the Tower Records, 404 Building, etc. Also, you know, super fun game that I ought to replay anyway.

Hyped for the sequel as well. Hopefully they won't recycle the same characters/storyline/setting, since the reason I love the original game so much is that most of that felt fresh for the genre and pretty original (ignoring the protagonist, who was the typical Squeenix whiny main character). If they come up with a new angle on 2/3 of these things, and keep the core gameplay, I'll probably be pretty damn pleased.
