Instigating Attacks/Fun
« on: August 19, 2012, 08:40:17 pm »

Hey guys,

I must have chosen "calm" on my embark screen, because I'm 180 dwarfs in, and I've had 2 goblin ambushes, one siege with 12 guys and one forgotten titan beast.

I haven't had a fight in years.

Is there anyway to provoke attacks? I've been engraving all the walls and floors I can, to try to increase my value...

Any suggestions would be great =)

Dont do that, what about the useful cloth! (being serious) I would suggest opening up an entrance to the caverns, and fight down there. Or HFS if you're really desperate. For above ground battles, just continue creating expensive items. Something will eventually happen, either that or goblins in your world have been nearly wiped out.

Or you embarked in an area where they can't reach. If you have kobold thieves then you can also place a few high value items near the surface for them to steal, that should get them to attack you after a few years of thievery.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

Cloth?  Even when I have no cloth, the elven traders don't bring it in 34.11.

Really? Odd, I always have my elven caravans bringing tons of rope reed fiber, or pig tail can't recall which one they bring, but its definitely there

They bring cloth for me. Rope reed, to be exact, often dyed emerald or crimson.

Pig tail is underground stuff, which only dwarves, goblins, and kobolds have.
