Magma safe pump query
« on: August 19, 2012, 05:53:39 am »

Hello everyone!
I read on the wiki that
Quote
A pump made with pipes and screws that are glass or any type of metal, and blocks that are glass, or any type of metal, is safe as long as no magma ever occupies the passable tile of the pump.

Can anyone confirm if this is true? I have a lot of z-levels that need crossing and a lot of magma that needs pumping. I have oodles of sphalerite I would like to use :).

Thanks!

If it's made of glass or metal it's magma-safe no matter what. I've definitely used metal ones without problems, even completely submerged in magma.

I've heard that even wood is safe for screw pumps if you don't get magma on the passable tile, but I haven't tried it recently and don't remember if it works.

Not all metals are safe in magma!

My mistake. I pretty much always use iron anyway.
