Vanilla succession game
« on: August 18, 2012, 03:10:44 pm »

Hey everyone.  Looking for a few people to play a succession game with vanilla DF (Tilesets don't count as modding since normal ASCII gives me a migraine almost instantly.)

Hoping to find at least 6 other people for the game, and at max a total of fifteen.

Rules and such would be discussed after the group has been decided, and the order of turns would be in the same order as when people sign up.

Hopefully people will be willing to help out, I'll bump this thread a total of five times before letting it die.

Cheers!

We should make this more interesting then just a boring old succession fort though. Maybe a megaproject or something? Shrines to Armok?

Yes, our fort is a religious pigremage to where Armok created the world or something. If OP is okay with it though. Sounds like a awefully fun sucession for though.

Of course.

Just more suggestions: we should set up a blood sacrifice point system where each player must deliberately perform a certain number of sacrifices. Stuff like just hunting wildlife would be 1 point for each kill, pets which have been adopted by/adopted a dwarf will be 2 or more (bonus points if you kill the pet's owner with it), a dwarf would be 3 or more, a noble would be 5, the monarch would be 100, etc. Also with bonus points for involving things like magma, blood, elaborate/painful killing machines, and elaborate temples to the blood god.

I'm in.
Having been highly entertained by butchering dead goblins/kobolds/sentients lately I'd love to have that mod in place, but I'm fine with vanilla.

The ability to butcher sentients and make stuff out of goblin bones seems in theme with this. Hey, what will be the name of this fort? I reccommend BloodCrypt.

I know! To make it different than all of the others, make it so that the dwarves worship some OTHER kind of god for a change!

Like...a forest god, who demands offerings of your finest wooden crafts and elves to tend the shrine!
Or...a fishing god, who needs a temple built in water (like, an area of dry constructions surrounded by water on all sides), with piers for fishing upstairs.
Or...a wind god, who needs a shrine built high above the ground, with long, thin platforms without railings connecting bigger platforms that serve as rooms.
Or anything else non-cliche, really.
Maybe the whole fortress could be built on that religious theme.

I'm in! Sounds fun!

Here's a challenge: Make a tower. Every overseer must add at least five floors to the tower. If not, their named dwarf is executed as soon as possible. and the fortress inches closer to a tantrum spiral. There are no other restrictions, except every floor of the tower must be filled with some sort of useful rooms, not just empty (and there must be actual floors in it, unless you want multi-floor megaprojects involving open air). We can call the fortress Pillardoomed or something similar.

I'm pretty sure that's already been done.

But with a Armok theme, we can make a temple. with a magma moat! I've had this idea for a while. PLEASE, WE NEED TO DO THIS.
