Everyone goes to sleep in the bar again, occupying the same floorspace as before, weary and bruised this time but sleeping contentedly, flush with success.

They wake up and head over to the caravan to collect their reward.  The merchants are set up in a warehouse by the docks.  You head inside and are greeted with the sight of more wealth then you've seen in a long time, possibly ever...  Hundreds upon hundreds of jars of preserved foods are meticulously piled.  Beans, pickled veggies, preserves and biscuits, tied together for easy loading onto the pack mules milling around near the entrance.  An ATV sits off to the side, loaded up with racks of rifles and a flamethrower.  Most of the cargo seems to be scrap metal and electronics, crates and crates of the stuff, clearly the haul of many dozens of scavengers who have done business with the caravan.  There's a large pile of coats sitting on a tarp, ready to be loaded up.  There's also a variety of odd items, old books, dozens of boots tied together by the laces, plastic barrels marked "XXX".  It's a veritable treasure trove and the guards are watching you like hawks, not allowing you to step so much as a pace away from the warehouse entrance.

After a few moments the caravan master emerges from the back and beckons you forward to a table where the caravan guards escort you to prevent any straying.  The caravan master puts a crate on the table and unloads it.
"As we agreed on, here's the payment for your work.  New Langley standard rates minus the items you were given in advanced."  Casting an eye over you he divides the loot into four piles and offers it up.

Each pile contains:
5 preserved food
2 winter coats
A bag of 10 9mm bullets

"If you want an alternative form of payment I'm sure we could come to an arrangement.  Especially if you are interested in buying winter coats.  Winter comes once a year, you know, and you humans don't do so well in the cold."

((If you want to swap items you can trade any of the stuff that the mutant gave you at a friendly exchange rate, i.e. 2-3.  Any other items can be traded at an indifferent exchange rate, i.e. 2-1.  If you want to buy clothes they'll sell them at a 1-1 basis.  This is all before any negotiations on Kat's part.  The caravan's isn't guaranteed to have every item you want, they are mostly trading scrap, clothing, food and booze right now.))

Spoiler: Level up! (click to show/hide)

Kat traded three 9mm bullets for a two 22. bullets for her new tiny revolver. Whom she promptly nicknamed 'Mouse'.

...

Afterwards, she went to barter with the traders

Kat is Offering...(In order of priorty)
10xClip of 50. Cal bullets
4x 9mm Bullets
12xIron Coins
6xCheer Food

Kat is looking to buy... (In order of importance)
Books on Old Music and Songs (?? TU)
A pair of heavy boots for snow and mud stomping (?? TU))
A Mesh Vest      (3 TU)
Concealed Carry Holster for a Tiny Weapon (2 TU)
Medium Weapon Scope (4 TU)

Kat brought everyone into a huddle before finalizing the deal, though, asking what they wanted.

((@Maniac: Deal not finalized until everyone chips in with what they want me to try and trade for them. I can probably barter about 20 more TU's of goods with what I have on my person. 'Donations' welcome to add into the trade if you are making a very large purchase...))

((May I be granted a feat retrain due to mistake motivated by a lack of familiarity with the system at the time of making my character? Basically, I can take a bonus feat when I hit Tough 2, but I took two of the best extras from the list of available feats as my two starting ones already.

Basically, I would keep the same feats I have now and add one. I need the retrain because the list of Tough 2 is pretty uninteresting and I was interested in the retrain.))

((Double post for bump and proper post, my bad.))

Ethan poked Kat and took the ancient backpack out of his own and gave her, as well as picking up his part of the team's reward.
"Please, give a check on how much this is worth for them."

Ethan takes his pile from the reward.

For trading, he offers:
- 9mm bullets x2
- Backpack obtained back in the "cave"
- Machete

He wants to buy:
- Long winter coat - black
- Heavy winter boots - same

((Awright

Also, I just realized I messed up with my loot-I'm assuming that's the sum total of all we got, not the loot everyone got personally.

:X ))

((I believe Rain pretty much counts as a GMPC by now, and won't be actively taking any loot, though we can still give it to her if she needs it...

My reasoning is that we all wouldn't get two coats each. Seems a bit odd.))

((The coat thing is because he's got a ton of excess fabric to unload.  Just a random thing I decided on a whim.))
((I think I messed up. There are four piles, each one with those same items, apparently. The problem is that we are five people total.))
((There should be five piles.  Apparently even the GM forgets about GMPCs. :P))
Kat is Offering...(In order of priorty)
10xClip of 50. Cal bullets  ((40 TU))
4x 9mm Bullets  ((4 TU))
12xIron Coins  ((2?  TU))
6xCheer Food ((24 TU))

Kat is looking to buy... (In order of importance)
Books on Old Music and Songs (2 TU)
A pair of heavy boots for snow and mud stomping (2 TU))
A Mesh Vest      (3 TU)
Concealed Carry Holster for a Tiny Weapon (2 TU)
Medium Weapon Scope (4 TU)

For trading, he offers:

- Backpack obtained back in the "cave"  ((3 TU))
- Machete  ((3 TU))

He wants to buy:
- Long winter coat - black  ((3 TU))
- Heavy winter boots - same  (3 TU))

((So far that adds up to 60 points offered vs. 25 points needed to get what you want.  And one of the items you want isn't available so you only need 22 points of bartering items for what you can get.))

The blind mutants eyes don't flash as you unload prodigious amounts of loot onto the table but the eyes of the caravan guards do.  "Damn, we shouldn't be paying you guys." one of them mutters in an envious tone while another chides his friend "And you said that was a job for suckers."  The mutant tilts his head towards the guards in a silent gesture and they fall quiet.

Luck is against Kat in her search for new music ((%roll of 60)).  The mutant doesn't have any books on music but he does offer some information.  "I do know of an old library down south that we'd love to pick over if it weren't for the rival gangs in town all hating the Confederacy.  If you want to try your luck they'll probably have some of what you are looking for."  He does have a spare scope around as luck has it ((%roll of 25)) and Rain assures Kat she'd have no trouble mating it to a longarm.  He has heavy winter gear to spare and nods approvingly at you deciding to buy before the snows start to fall.

When you hand over the bag of coins the mutant looks at them a bit surprised.  "Arfies?  Never seen them this far east.  Hey, Snotnose, bring me the arfie scanner!" a kid comes running along with a short wand which he haves over the coins.  A little green light blinks and the scanner starts beeping.  "Huh, not counterfeit either.  Too bad you're a thousand miles from the Authority.  I'll give you a couple 9mm for 'em if you want."  Kat senses ((Sense motive 13+7=20)) that this offer is a serious lowball but the mutant doesn't seem excited to get his hands on the coins.  It's a bit of a surprise that he will barter for them at all.
