...I didn't say that. Besides, mockery in response to tangible harm being done in the name of religion is verboten when the religion happens to be Islam.
I like both the religions. I don't like the violence.
Didn't say what? That Christians are an oppressed minority? You don't really need to explicitly state it given the context of your defense to Leafsnail's comment. I might be reading that wrong, but right now I don't see how you weren't heavily implying that mockery is, give or take, a form of oppression.
And can the whole Islam is spared from ridicule spiel. It isn't. It doesn't happen as often in English speaking communities because it's nowhere near as prominent as Christianity within those but it catches plenty of flak when people in the religion decide to put into practice harmful acts motivated by their interpretation of divine cause. Within
some liberal circles it's distasteful to target Islam but that's more due to how much unjustified hatred is slung at the broader Islamic community, including actual (and common) hate crimes (which manage to kill Sikhs by mistake) and right-wingers using the law to target Islam specifically. Against Christianity you have, what? Disagreement? Ridicule of its ridiculous elements? Attempts to remove its long-held privilege over other faiths or non-faith in this country? Christianity is an easier target because Christians don't have to legitimately fear oppression in America - and those who claim they are unfairly treated often have no clue what actual oppression entails.
