What do I do with this chameleon in a cage
« on: August 16, 2012, 04:22:08 pm »

Is there anything interesting I can do with a Forgotten Beast (a chameleon, it's a human right now) I caught in a cage?

Unleash it on your enemies. If it shoots something particularly nasty like webs or dust, put it in a pillbox made of fortifications. Make sure you can close the box with bridges.

Then open it up when goblins come and watch as they inhale the dust (or whatever) and their brains start pouring out their noses :D

Not a forgotten beast, this is a were-chameleon. You know what to do.

Dwarf-Chameleons, commando unit.

Yeah, were-chameleons are Remembered Beasts.

Oh, you're right, it doesn't say Forgotten Beast.  I could have sworn I saw those words, but maybe I just subconsciously assumed when I had the game-interrupting message that it was a fb.

Huh?  I don't get it.  Unless you mean unleash it on my enemies like the other guy said.

Unleash it on your Dwarves. Migrants, with no combat experience, no armour and no weapons. Try to keep as many of them alive as possible. Ensure they are bitten, and blood is drawn.

Hmm, interesting, but I'm not getting any more migrants unless a lot of dorfs die.  My population is 199 and the cap is 100.

Can it turn into something that will break out of the cage?

Nope. You got any Dwarves you can risk losing? Use them.

The cages can hold anything, anything at all.

If you release it during the full moon, you will have to have a method of stopping it of course. And remeber who got bitten.

CAVEAT: Constructed cages to hold an animal that is un-caged won't hold indefinitely like cage trap cages, in my experience (they do escape). But if a creature is caged via trap, then they can never escape. Ever. Unless they die of old age.

Creatures don't break out of cages. If you are clumsy, though, they might accidentally be released. This is not recommended.

Well, don't accidentally type the key-string that will release the monsters into the fortress. 'Kay?
