So I make a slab to commemorate, let's say Urist McBrave. He was possessed, but fought the voice in his head to go and claim a workshop, and paced my dining hall for a year or so. He was finally driven to madness and put down by my militia. I made a small room and placed the slab in it, smoothed the stone around it and engraved the adjacent wall.

"It is an image of Urist McBrave and Urist McMilitia Captain. Urist McMilitia Captain is striking down Urist McBrave." Or something like that.

...

I executed the engraver in a drowning chamber, and nobody cared.

"And not a single feck was given that day."

And, honestly, that's very DF.

Why did you execute the engraver? That seems like a perfectly appropriate thing to put there.

He was a heretic, obviously.

In other news, I was just inspired to build the first Dwarven Asylum for the insane extranormal. I'll give each of my moody dwarves a special room, and they'll be kept alive for as long as possible. And perhaps unleashed upon sieges if they go berserk.

best done with vampires, as non-vampire insane dwarves always die after half a year or so.

How do you plan on capturing the stark raving mad?

The issue is that the only way of keeping them alive is to vampurify them, but they won't drink after going insane (or even taking a mood) so you basically need to make everyone vampires... unless you don't actually care about the mortality rate of said asylum. :P

Vampires function without blood like elves do without sunshine*: They're fine, but prefer to partake.
*The alcohol, mind you.

I'd hope you wouldn't say that. They're immune.

Let me rephrase that.
Webbed cage traps.

still immune to webbed traps unless you drop them from a height by making a floor collapse.

Dear Urist McStockpileDrone
I just found a barrel which contained a wheelbarrow. Inside the wheelbarrow was another barrel. I don't even understand how that is possible.

Hm, actually, the idea of a vampire asylum sounds more interesting now. Medical vampirization, of course. Imagine the torture endless weaponization testing sane and fair dwarven research possibilities..
