Not for me, LoSboccacc.  Last time I mowed a lawn, I was 13, and ended up having my right middle and ring fingers cut off in the pushmower.  Not going to happen.

Its alright, LoSboccacc, I just have to give something of a cynical response to that.  Its still fairly cheap, but some people just dont' have the means to get the monies for it.

You have no means to earn money? At all? You clearly have the ability to use the internet and type. You could make money doing just that. Hell I know a man who is paralyzed from the waist down and cannot leave his house, he makes money flipping real estate using phones and email to communicate with his home inspector and lawyer.

Edit: And please don't take this as a criticism, I just find it hard to believe that someone has no means at all to earn money. Some people may lack the motivation to do so, or simply not be so inclined, but there is almost always a way.

Just upgraded from $15 to $90. So should you if you have the means. :)

About having the means: There are ways to make money but it does not mean the person can afford to spend it on a game.

I once made 50€ distributing flyers for a day (ok, I think now everyone hates me).

edit: but if I had to actually go this far for a quick buck, probably I wouldn't spend it on a game, until I did it precisely on this purpose.

See, maybe I'm off on this, but from the way the kickstarter was originally worded, I had thought that Galactic War was going to be a base feature in the game. In short, what I expected in the base game was: Randomly generated maps/galaxies, single and multi player skirmishes/fights on a variety of scales, including multiple-solar-system scale. It seems that the only significant difference is that the Galactic War mode is just a way of contextualizing the various skirmishes in the broader sense of a 'campaign'.

I guess I just don't get it.

In any case, I was waiting to see if they'd hit the orbital unit goal before donating, so guess I'll chip in shortly.

As of right now I have absolutely no money because I had to spend it on schooling books and supplies.

So people being unable to pay for this makes sense to me.

Also I hope Galactic wars does not means that it is the only single player campaign... I actually find RTS that lack a campaign to be sort of missing something.

I know what you mean.  I'm lucky enough to have some money (ie, I've only been in college for three weeks), but I could only afford to spare enough to get the beta access.  I would love to donate more, as galactic war sounds awesome, but textbooks are cruel.

And Logical, it seems that that might be exactly what it is, almost a sort of emergent campaign.  I imagine it may be something like the galactic war mode in Battlefront II, where controlling certain systems will give bonuses campaign wide.  I wonder whether it will be turn based, with each system being a separate, isolated battle with a definite beginning and end, or a real time with many ongoing battles at once, with long distance capable units able to enter and exit at will.

I have a feeling turn-based is more likely, and likely much easier to handle for the players as well as the developers.

You know, I think I begin to suspect what the final stretch goal will be.

Anybody remember Boneyards? Galactic War mode? Not a dynamic singleplayer campaign, but a dynamic massively multiplayer one, with a galaxy full of planets that change ownership based on the outcome of multiplayer matches.

I figured it would be something like actual space combat with ships and such.
