Levi's Poetry Gaming Giveaway
« on: August 15, 2012, 12:12:19 pm »

Hi, I decided to try to try out one of these giveaway things.  :)  I bought a bunch of extra games that I really enjoyed during the steam summer sale on cheap, as I think good games deserved to be played.

The Games:
- Toki Tori
Toki Tori is a fun, cheerful puzzler involving a giant chicken trying to recover its eggs(or someones eggs anyway).  Starts off pretty easy, but starts to get difficult towards the end.  I quite enjoyed it.

- Super Meatboy
A hard platformer!  Best played with a controller if you have one.  This was a game that I didn't think I would actually even get close to finishing, but it was so much fun that I persisted until I did.  Its got a ton of user made levels and Ultra-Hard levels for masochists who love a challenge and thought that simply winning the game wasn't enough.

- Orcs Must Die
A tower-defense/third person shooter!  Frankly, this is one of my favorite games.  Everything about it is just fun.  And if you turn out to enjoy it as much as I do, Orcs Must Die 2 is out now.  :)

- Space Chem
Another Puzzler!  Less cheerful and more engineery that Toki Tori.  This is the only game I'm giving away that I have NOT finished.  It gets ridiculously hard on the later levels, and whenever you finish a level you can't help but feel like you just did something amazing.

- Amnesia Dark Descent
A first-person horror game!  You play as a helpless amnesiac who's only power is to curl into fetal position and sob silently when faced with danger.  Its famous as a horror game, but its actually got a pretty compelling story as well.  Best played at night in the dark and in the mood to be scared.

- Space Pirates and Zombies
I don't know what genre this one is.  I don't think it has a genre.  Its a fairly long game where you get to fly around in a space ship shooting other space ships.  Its sort of hard to describe but trust me, its fun!

- Plants Vs Zombies
I'm not sure if anybody has actually not played Plants Vs Zombies before, but its a variation of a tower defense game.  Colorful, fun and you get to have a jalapeno on a lily pad in a swimming pool facing off against a zombie riding a dolphin.

- Bulletstorm
A poorly rated first person shooter!  This one is sort of out of place with the rest of these games, but I thought it was underrated and deserved a better chance.  Its very linear, but it has one of the funnest progression systems I've ever seen in a shooter.  You need money to upgrade your weapons(and purchase ammo/new weapons), and you get this money by doing skillshots.  There is a big list of skillshots you can make, and you get the most money by doing ones you haven't tried before.  The skillshots are things like "Ram an enemy to death with a hot dog cart" or "Kill an enemy while drunk on Nom juice" and "Kick an enemy and shoot him to death in mid-air".

As a warning; Bulletstorm uses Games for Windows Live, which tends to cause a lot of people problems.  Enter at your own risk! :)

The Task:
Compose a poem of at least 6 lines.  Subject and format can be whatever you like.  If you can't think of a subject, write it about the game you want.

The Rules:
Poems must be at least 6 lines.
You need steam to play any of these.
There will be 8 winners, one per game.
Only one entry per person (that means you can only get one game, choose wisely!)
State what game you want at the end.
Post here to say you want in.
No escaped lunatics.
Don't enter if you don't plan to play the game or are going to give it away to someone else.
Winners will be chosen by random draw(random.org) and contacted by PM for their email or steam ID.
Drawing will be 19th Aug(sunday) @ 1PMish PST

The universe is a system
Space is it's infection
It will take all our wisdom
To clear out the defection
And bring back unity
So we can all live in immunity

Eh, not the best at poems but gave it a shot :P

The end is nigh! The end is nigh!
They are convinced that it's a sign!
Please just stop looking at the sky,
for there is no nearing end of times.
Shan't we ignore the peasant's rabble,
For in omens don't we dabble?

Yeah I suck at poems, I'm not even sure if I English'd this correctly.
Plants vs Zombies please.

O, to be one of them catfish
In rivers that are quite English
Only fish without scales
But with whiskers and tails
At least they're not bloody rockfish
I could stab one of those with a swordfish.

Limericks aren't six lines, so I basically butchered an established form of poetry as well as being really bad at it. Oh well!

I'll be in for Space Pirates and Zombies.

from the gloomy darkness,
twin red stars of hatred shine,
from the depths of the abyss,
steel and wood in a gleaming vessel rises,
with a creature of stone and rum,
strikes with a gauntlet clad fist.

based off of the mine cart devlog
Orcs must die.

In a place I once knew,
stood a man who looked like you.
Said he came from far away. . .
Where? I'll find out someday.
Asked him why, and he told me thus:
"Look, I wasn't trying to make a fuss,
I want SPAZ!"

Wait a minute. . . what?

Space Pirates, and zombies,
Are no match for me, and my hombres.
Amnesia, my willpower is too weak,
So my prospects on that seem bleak.
Bulletstorm seems much more my thing,
For when you kill in fine ways, you get bling.

Bulletstorm, please. And GOOD GOD I am bad at these.
