Btw, what do you mean with trading between players excluding trading of resources? (I was thinking of the skills that trader minons posses, the ability to set up illegal businesses) .

OW, those things.

-Trading of resources mean buying or selling resources, with an unnamed and unreferenced 3th party npc. (You just exchange them)
-Players can decide to trade with each other, exchanging money, tools, spells,...
- As for the illegal businesses thing, that's actually more sound than the giving bonusses for Inter Pc trade.

See Ebbor, thats precisely what I did with my system. Some archetypes are intentionally front-weighted(better early on), Some are intentionally back-weighted. Its very true that early research allows for a potential lightning start. But on the other hand it could fizzle, as randomness plays its part.

As far as a research system goes, Go with what you're comfortable with. I enjoy my own system because its highly modular, allows great variability and is always interesting. The one the Space Race might work better in this setting. Dont be afraid to experiment.

I'm going for a compromise between B and C. (Ie, you can research what you want and I give hints and stuff. And you can just do research for a spell on my spell tree). Anyway. Game start . Here are your finalized sheets.. Just one questions. Are gorgons equal to Naggas? Traits effects have been calculated, but will not in all cases be made public.

((You'd have to ask Nirur about that; they're both "snake people," I assume, but his are probably different personality-wise and might be radically different looking.

Also, uh, I don't know what I can do. Other than assume this is Evil Genius and proceed accordingly.))

Build library (whoever can if minions required)
Self, Apprentice: Research Infernalism
2 regulars: Find money
Recruit Trader, Regular Minion

((My nagas will be quite similar to gorgons, but somewhat less malicious (they're more likely to live in a multiracial city), have human-colored skin, and prefer finesse to a brute force approach.

How does hiring work? Do we just say we want to hire people and have them appear, or do we have to send someone out recruiting?))

Hire another apprentice and a trader.

Self, Apprentice: Research stone walls, that I may reinforce and rebuild my fortress.
1st Regular: Build a library.
2nd Regular: Gather information.

((How are actions going to work? I guess I'll just submit an action and if there is anything I can't do, you point it out))

Brigand: rob the money off citizens. Do not rob anyone that seems rich enough to have some influence.
2 Regulars: search city for exposed (unguarded) documents and steal them.
Recruit a trader(cost?)

That's probably going to work.

However: A library is needed for research (well, not exactly needed, but you do want to have it, because of minusses and stuff if you don't). You can build a library and research in the same turn.

Now for actions. These are listened next to the minions, but stating what you want to do and I'll interpret it as best as I can.
As for Deathsword, there are 2 ways I can interpret your action.
     1. You try to steal research information, which you can;t since it's a random mission gained from plotting
     2. You try to steal information about your surroundings and opportunities, which would be similair to a plotting (gather information)mission. Which gives you a randomly generated opportunity.

Recruiting is a free action, though it is rolled for.

Try to recruit 1 brigader and one apprentice.

1 regular cause random destruction.

1 regular build library.

One trader should try to bribe local politicians to gain influence.

I should try to set up a illegal business. Offering to lend out money to those who need it. To a very high interest rate, ofcourse.

Uh... don't we get some costs, possible actions, map, general description of the world, where we're currently at and so forth? I don't want to flail in the dark. >_>

OP contains some information, amongst other building costs

No map, general description maybe later, it's not that important. As for actions, check the minnion tab, which explains what every minnion can do. Here's the same list with some explanations.

Research: Requires apprentice or Mage archettype.
Procuring funds: Steal money
Pillage things: Steal resources
Random destruction: increases infame
Targetted destruction: Weakens the forces of good in your surroundings. Can be used against players if you know their location
Search for information: Gives a chance for a randomly generated mission
Spread tales: Increases or decreases infamy
Spying: (Trying to infiltrate the forces of good or to discover another players location)
Bribe targets: Variety of goals. Uses money to accomplish it. Amount of money used depends
Illegal bussinesses: Gives a steady supply of money

How will forces of good attack us? How will combat proceed? Can there be negative traits?

By sending Heroes towards your location, should they manage to find it.

A couple of different rolls, which will not be revealed. Unless for massive multiturn sieges, there will be no player interaction except for sending units and equipment in. (Though you can say, try to keep this one alive, or that is a high priority target.)

Yes. Though not at the start.
