I say, we ought get to work on harnessing lightning. We'll need to take it alive, of course, if we're to tame it? We'll need some sort of Lightning Trap, and something to bait it. I'd recomend starting rather simple - a sturdy glass bell lowered on a string by a simple mechanism onto a weather vein. The lightning will strike the weather vein, trigger the mechanism and drop the bell over the vein, trapping the lightning inside

It would also be prudent to prepare a dose of our Potion, for use after we've captured some lightning and need to harness it safely.

E: I've just recalled that we own a hand-cranked Electro-staticizer! No need to capture wild lightning, when we can breed our own from the comfort of our laboratory. Let us Electro-staticize Something.

You take the time to Electro-staticize yourself. A jolt of lightning runs through your veins, reinvigorating you. Ah, how you have missed the sweet smell of burning hair. They wouldn't let you Elektrify yourself at the Institute. Said it was dangerous. Insane!
Hah!!

We could Electro-staticise a rod of glass and see if it can store any charge.

Construct for yourself a Leyden's Canister, in case you must use Electro-statick energies away from your laboratory

I submit the proposal that we concoct a previously-mentioned potion of strength.

And for interdiciplinary effect, Elektrify the potion.

You mess about with your Electro-staticizer for a while. You get bored without a serious goal, though.

Construct for yourself a Leyden's Canister, in case you must use Electro-statick energies away from your laboratory
Who is this Leyden of whom you speak. There is no such person.
There is the city of Leiden, for which is named the Leyden Jar. The city does not own the jar though. The jar is a jar from the city.

You mess around with a jam jar filled with brine for a while. If you had access to better glasswork, you could probably devise some sort of long-term storage device for the Statik.

I submit the proposal that we concoct a previously-mentioned potion of strength.

And for interdiciplinary effect, Elektrify the potion.
You concoct three batches of the Potion of Strength. One is electrified during the brewing, a difficult process involving stirring the potion with a spoon held in your teeth whilst you crank the Electro-staticizer. One is set in the basement, to be staticized once it has been completed.

With a weary sigh, you take the third batch and place the static-conductors in it, and start cranking away. You have twenty-four hours of cranking to do. This would be an excellent time to do some ponderings on theories, plans, and plots.

+1 if this pondering can include a plan to steal all their metal with a giant magnet.

Consider ways in which one might create a greater quantity of statik in a shorter period of time, preferably one that doesn't require us to be present.

I know. We should use this time to write a letter to the university, claiming that "we understand" and that there were "no hard feelings." Blatant lies, of course, but it should help make them less suspicious. Also, feed them some nonsense about how we are starting a new life as an artist or sculptor; might help explain some solitude and unusual imports.

We also might want to have our peasant rabble build us a lightning rod atop our lab. It might be awhile before we get to use it, but it's good to be prepared!

This is a wonderful idea. Perhaps some sort of clockwork cranking machine!

Or we could get a peasant to do it. Unnecessarily complicated machines can come later.

Or fix some pedals, so that we might be free to use our hands to perform SCIENCE while cranking. I don't like the though of letting people in our lab.

It's not like we have much of worth for them to find, anyway. We have completed basically nothing so far, and probably won't in the near future.
