Has the Tomb of Horrors ever not been a hellhole?

Has the Tomb of Horrors ever not been a hellhole?

Presumably it was perfectly fine before Acererak got to it.

Also, I'll have the update out in the evening. I've just had a large string of midterms/assignments so I've been to busy to work on this. It's done, so we should be back to our regularly scheduled updates.

Actually Acererak made it he doesn't even have a good reason for it (except for in the 4th version super adventure) he just wants to fuck with adventurers that's why it's so hard and there is next to no good loot. (I really really hate Acererak yet love Gary Gygax for making the original Tomb)

Gore which I then place into the coffin,

I know. It's supposed to be a joke, which was the place was perfectly fine until he built the tomb.

There was one thing. The original version had pure mithiril doors and savvy players used to just steal the doors because thats a lot of mithiril. Now in more recent version of course they have changed it so the doors in question are just magically enchanted to be just like it and if removed they would stop being like mithiril.

Yeah, they made a couple of changes to make it harder on players. I heard that some particularly clever guy once dropped one of the tomb's own instant deathtraps onto Acerak's head.

I don't know about that but someone once just lowered a bag of holding over the skull and trapped him in there.

Just throw a bunch of similar objects into the treasures we get from now on.

Delving the Tomb of Horrors: Tell the Adventurers What They've Won!
« Reply #1317 on: October 18, 2012, 09:31:31 am »

I pick Coffer one's lock. If someone attempts to interfere, I give them a warning shank in the kidneys. So really more of a violent murder attempt.

No one seems to want a shanking, so you open coffer 1 in relative peace.

[8 + 5] With much scraping of metal, you work open the lock.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Throw coffer 4 at coffer 19 using maximum strength

Scream a battle cry while doing so for extra maximum power

Hmm... You're a Fighter now, aren't you? Enjoy your +5 bonus then.

[13 + 5] With a resounding crack the two coffers spilt open.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Razdak casts Animate Object on coffer #2 in an attempt to get it to open itself.

[10] The coffer comes to life with a burst of magic, but refuses to unlock itself for some reason.

Pick trunk #5 ready to jump back if it has a trap.

[19 + 5] It's a trap! Actually, it's a trio of potions, one green, one blue and one crimson. Well, technically the module doesn't say anything about the contents of the trunks, so consider yourself lucky.

Try again. Make sure to open it away from me.

[4 + 5] Coffer 6 is still locked, despite all the effort you've been putting into it.

Wallop Trunk #2 in an attempt to open it.

[15] Uhh... Your walloping seems to have broken the hinges allowing you to rip off the cover of the trunk, revealing an old axe wrapped in fancy silk.

More Cowering!

[7] You kinda slouch in the hallway. Cowering is just taking too much out of you.

Well, if no one has searched yet, guess I'll do that.

[10] You find no hidden doors or anything of that ilk in the room.

Drink all three new potions to see if I'll explode (that or gain super powers, or just to spite the gods.)
