Eh, it's the tomb of Horrors, I'm sure that there are worse fates in here than going through a series of boring rooms. Plus, now the sphere hallway is connected to the entrance in a way that doesn't involve sketchy teleportation.

So this room connects to the sphere hallway, right? I'm gonna go to the room with the three armed gargoyle. Play around with it a bit and push some more gems into its hands.

You place three more gems into the gargoyle's hands.

The gargoyle comes to life, flexes its hands and crushes the gems in its palms. After all of that excitement it returns to being an inanimate statue.

Brecan shall clamber out of the pit and chase down and attempt to capture one of the fleeing creatures, trapping it in the sack he carries if necessary.

Brecan, AGNS and Nikolai, accompanied by a slightly confused Kadbot, run into the corridor while Hans and Maximum stay back and provide covering fire or something. I dunno.

As the four brave adventurers rush forward, they see something truly horrifying.

That's right. The entire corridor is a counterweight trap. And not just any silly old counterweight trap that dumps you into a pit full of spikes. This counterweight trap leads to a goddamn pit of lava MAGMAAAAAAAAAAAA

[REFLEX: 7 + 5] [REFLEX: 1 + 5] [REFLEX: 6 + 5] [REFLEX: 8] Everyone tries to scramble back up the corridor, but Acererak's dickery knows no bounds and the walls and floors of the corridor are exceptionally smooth, offering no hand or foot holds even for the nimblest of adventurers. Even attempts to use grappling hooks/hams fail horribly, mostly because nobody gets a second try. Though look on the bright side, eh? At least you're getting a free cremation.

Three more gems and when it animates I try to talk to it. Just small talk to start out with. "Hi, I'm Javier. What's a gargoyle like you doing in a dungeon like this?" that sort of thing.
