Probably. Depends on what the curse is. Remember, this is Acererak you're dealing with. For all you know, it could be a trap that activates when you take the ring off.

On the other hand, I might just be messing with you. By suggesting that I'm just messing with you.

Well crap.
Okay, Hand mystery paper to nearest mage and say "This thing is freaking me out. Do something Magicky with it." Then search the new room thoroughly for traps and/or secret doors.
Disable secret doors and open traps. WAIT! Strike that, Reverse it.

You chuck the mystery paper into the hands of the nearest mage, and then turn around to search the new room.

[14 + 5] You quickly find and disable the crossbow trap with ease.

[16 + 5] And to top things off, you find a secret door! Do you remember the problem with Kazard's secret door? Well, this secret door also needs to be opened in a unique way before you can go through it. Probably something to do with hinges in weird places or something like that.

Follow Greymountain and check things as well, and try to make sure nothing will activate and send us both to the afterlife.

Javier seems to be handling everything pretty damn well, so you leave him to his work.

The room is 10 feet by 10 feet, and has no other entrances/exits. As you enter the room, you distinctly hear the sound of a crossbow cocking.

Kadbot runs back to the previous room.

You quickly run into the previous room, safe from any imaginary dangers.

As you fiddle with your magical ring to see if it can come off (outcome: it can be taken off like a regular ring), you hear a faint noise behind you, like somebody slowly drawing a piece of metal across stone. Surprised, you draw your short-sword and turn around.

Brecan wanders into the room with Karas and Kazard and mutters something about needed the magical ring.

I start by grabbing the door and pulling at the top, bottom, left, and right edge in that order. If that fails I push inwards in the same order. Then I attempt to find a pivot point, handle, doorknob, or switch.
