Someone has gone on a killing spree in the US once or twice a year, almost every year, for the past seven or eight years, so this isn't exactly a very recent, very sharp increase in killing sprees. I'd say this stuff is happening at about the same rate it has been for the past thirty years or so.

So yeah. 2 civilians got shot and one of them died. One officer is dead and another is apparently in pretty bad shape. I'm pretty sure this already qualifies as a mass shooting because 4 people have been shot. Some people are saying it's an eviction gone wrong but I haven't found that in any news yet.

Technically it'd generally only be considered a mass murder if there are at least six victims. Anything less and it's just multiple killings... but that's really a technicality.

An officer was serving an eviction notice near the school when an occupant opened fire with "automatic" weapons through the door.

I put automatic in quotes because there is no specific information on what if anything they mean by that.
