"You say you are a god? And the same one whose follower gave us a mission, apparently." Mordekhai's eyebrows rise high and he seems somewhat shocked by the development, though his reaction is nearly impossible to discern thanks to the enclosed helm. Though rather suspicious of the man who's claiming to be a good, the situation is so outlandish it is hard not to give some credit to the possibility they are in some alternate dimension. "It seems the mansion's wild magic took us somewhere we really should not be."

The knight turns his head. "Tikan, please tell us what you see."

Stare at where Tikan is pointing to see whether it's a threat.

"Hey steve." You speak into the air.
>Yes?
"Could you guys also make a hamburger out of this arm when they cut it off? I wanted to eat it just for the sake of tasting it."
>That is horrible and disgusting. It will no doubt set you apart and create fear in your team mates. So of course.

"Yes, that could easily be correct.  There is... was more work to be done than my followers or I could possibly hope to do alone.  We often had others assist with some of the less volatile information gathering.  We might still change fate, to make this eventuality an impossibility."

"Doing so would be good for this world, that would be for certain. Listen, Malgun. I must ask but has Saressa ever been... Off? Uncaring about the world? Because.." Aegnor's words trail off, and his expression clouds. "In our travels, we've encountered a fanatical worshipper of her who crashed an airship, and.. I've spoken to an earlier her than the one who had the worshipper, and she asked me to defeat the 'current' her from our time so she could continue to do what she was meant to do, but..."

Aegnor looks away, clearly unsure of his words, he begins to turn back to Malgun, while massaging his temples. "This situation is all kinds of messed up." He mutters while shaking his head.

Kael shifted around inside his armor, clearly uncomfortable with the situation and the surroundings.

"We shouldn't be here if this isn't our time. We could change too many things for the worse the longer we stay, and the warp is definitely an unfriendly place...

We'll take your note Malgun, I'm sure we can deliver it to your followers somehow. But before we leave, do you know how this all came to pass? All this destruction? Can we do anything to prevent this from happening?"

Accept the quest from the god and inquire to how this world came to be. Surely a god of knowledge would know how this happened!

Accept the quest from the god and inquire to how this world came to be. Surely a god of knowledge would know how this happened!

"You'd be surprised how inflexible the timeline is actually.  Sareesa informed me she once attempted to travel back and kill the Demon God while he was still mortal and only managed to spawn a dimension in which he was born sooner.  There are many futures and many pasts... though only one past is tied to your present.  It is a complicated thing.  Hopefully communication between the past and the future renders this a dimension that will never come to pass and our collective suffering won't become a reality for you... if that makes any sense."

"None of that is particularly important though, what is important is that you understand how this happened.  Originally Sareesa ascended to godhood and led her most devoted followers and newborn angels into a crusade in The Warp.  There they fought for 1,000 of your years, though in The Warp time behaves differently.  By the calculations performed by those inside The Warp at the time, they estimated they fought for nearly 10,000 years.  Ultimately, due to the endless warfare and vast precautions that had to be taken in order to field an army in this environment, Sareesa was corrupted as her personal safeguards failed her in a fight against one of the numerous Demon Lords."

"The effects weren't immediate and she guided me to godhood in order to help her change the Skien of Fate back to the most favorable outcome.  I searched for a way to purify demonic corruption, which before my research was long considered incurable.  I was able to find that attuned to specific locations particular magical crystals are able to produce enough holy energy to destroy the demonic corruption but that the energy won't harm anything except for the corruption itself.  Unfortunately, I came to this solution too late, and she fell.  I and a demigod underneath her fought her, and managed to confine her temporarily.  Unfortunately, he gave up his life in confining her and I began moving things into position for the purification ritual, including contacting her Archangel, Veratha in order to have a being capable of focusing that much magical energy.  Nearly everything was in place when she escaped confinement."

"That is the time in which you live.  Ultimately, she will be confined once again, though the loss of life in the brief war is regrettably high.  After confining her again, we managed to transport her to a purified temple where Veratha was waiting.  The demons, sensing that their great enemy was making her way back into the world purified attacked while we completed the ritual.  When she rose, though purified, she was unable to assist us in defending the temple.  She was... abducted."

"I don't know what occurred while she was captured, nor do I ever wish to learn more than I learned from her wounds when I found her.  It took us six months to find her, in that time they managed to remove all the tendons from her legs and hands.  She was covered in burns and much of her skin was flensed and her tongue removed.  We managed to heal the damage, but she still won't speak to anyone.  In fact she would, by most metrics, be considered infantile, honestly little more than a giant mana battery for those around her.  Occasionally, if a demon gets close she turns it into slag or otherwise dispatches of it, but outside of those hints of her former self, it's as though she were a child."

"Ultimately, she understandably wasn't able to fight the Demon God, and he took over the rest of the universe adding it to his kingdom in The Warp.  A few gods survived the war and we still fight, but it's pretty hopeless.  We're slowly losing what mortals we did manage to save, and we aren't making much headway against the numbers of demons.  I'm out looking for revenge, hoping somehow by destroying the demon lord that did this, Saressa regains her sanity, but even then... well even then I don't know what she could do in this situation."

Malgun finishes writing the note.  "There, hopefully that helps avoid this, if it's possible,' he says handing it to Kael.  It is written in a cipher that makes little sense to you, though you expect it's merely that Malgun knows he wouldn't accept this unlikely situation without some kind of proof and that the cipher is one meant to give the message authority.

Aegnor looked wary. "So Saressa in our 'present' is demonically corrupted? I guess what she said to me made sense now, that she would have me destroy her, and to end the cycle of fate.." Aegnor looks down, grinding his foot into the dirt, apparently having nothing to say over his thoughts. Eventually, he looks up at Malgun and nods. "You can trust us to deliver your message. On my oaths as a priest, I promise that."

Although silent, Mordekhai is very understandably a mountain of seething righteous rage by the time the group decides to escape. The harsh sound of his teeth grinding like he wants to chew on steel plate is heard even through his helmet. Demons. Always the demons. Why do they want so much to annex their world? Is entropy, pain and a wish to conquer the only thing guiding their intent? Are their stupid ambitions reason enough to justify the pains they take just to win? Thee is confusion in his mind, for the scenario around him is far too vivid to be a mere illusion created by the mansion. There's death in the air and despair stained the very essence of the world.

He cannot even muster the nerve to say Sareesa was foolish and flawed in her actions. Who is he to judge? Were he to ascend to godhood, wouldn't he do the same she had done out of love of this world? Her corrupted self had spawned terrible things, but ultimately all of the blame could be traced back to the demons - pitiful, disgusting creatures.

The crusader glances at the demon lord, frustrated and filled with fury. A mortal would do nothing but cause complications during a fight between a god and a demon of that level of strength. Still, he wished like he had the power to make a difference, to fight by Malgun's side and strike down the evil right in front of him. But he couldn't. No matter how much his soul raged and his very self screamed in anger and the need to make justice, there was nothing he could do but turn his back and try to prevent this scenario from ever happening. Impotence is a bitter feeling, and it is not the first time he has a taste of it.

Mordekhai briefly wonders if Domhall, the God of Protection and Defense portrayed as an armored crusader with an one-handed mace and a greatshield almost as big as he was tall, still lives in these dark times of the possible future. He is reminded of those ideals that should help one with living their own life. The flaming, red hot fury inside of him subsides and he takes a deep breath as a feeling of determination fills his being. "May you stand victorious and all demons be cleansed." he addresses Malgun before turning his back and waiting for the others to get to the other side before following them.

Retreat.

Zealots and Demons, The Fall of a God, Turn 110:  Nothing much happens

Quote from: Whole Party
Retreat.

[5] [3x2=6 healing] Aegnor quickly heals Malgun before the party beats a quick retreat away from the clashing powers.  Malgun pulls out a second pistol, this one spinning and glowing golden with untold energy.  He begins strafing to the side as holy bolts of energy spark out of the second pistol joining with the chorus of leaden bullets from the other weapon.

Quote from: Fleur
Slam that door.

[3]  Fleur slams the door after the last of the party passes through the door.  As she does the door disappears.  "I am glad we did not arrive any later than we did," she sighs.  "Which door now?"

((Thanks for tha AI'ing!))

"Next adjacent door is my best bet. I wonder if this is connected to the wild energy of this house." Akari said as she caught her tail and fluffed out the dirt.

"I'll check it."

Check the next door--adjacent to where we exited!

"Might as well do what she says. Unless we find any sign of where our target is, then we'll have to check them all. Which may not be a good thing if what we've just been through is indicative of."

Back Akari up as we open the door. Make sure to stand well to the side of it and in a ready to block position.

Mordekhai sets his feet firmly on the ground and assumes a fighting stance, prepared to deal with whatever may appear.

Stand by Akari and prepare to attack, defend or heal as necessary.

Aegnor nods, and mumbles a couple of prayer's where he is.

If anything attacks the party, prepare to heal or holy shield.
