Aegnor shook his head in confusion mixed with.. More confusion. Deciding to drop the matter for Akari's benefit, he saw Kael enter the armoury.

"Ah, Kael. Let me keep the door open for you."
Ensure that the door doesnt close on kael.

"See, she has a... good... reason to have that dress." Mordekhai says before moving closer to Akari so that the rest doesn't hear what he is about to say to her. His tone is worried as he asks: "Did you suffer any lapse in conscience? Do you think some manner of external force has controlled your thoughts or actions, even if for the briefest of moments?"

Zealots and Demons, The Fall of a God, Turn 104: Naga Seeking Heat Lamp
« Reply #1427 on: July 10, 2014, 12:52:16 pm »

Zealots and Demons, The Fall of a God, Turn 104:  Naga Seeking Heat Lamp

Mordekhai also stares at Akari with a confused expression behind his helmet's protection. "Akari probably has a very good reason to be doing so. She surely is not going to wear that... Dress." he says in the foxfolk's defense.

Heal Nuru then take yet another breather to gather mana.

Also wish we could get ourselves healed and back to full mana without rolls during peaceful non-combat situations (I think we did that once in the ship).

[6]  You look over at Nuru and go over what you know about Naga biology... that is to say nothing.  You for some reason don't feel safe trying to heal the Naga without knowing more about their normal healthy biology.  The fact that you know at the very least they don't naturally have bullet wounds seems to elude you.

Akari looked at the clothes she had gotten--what had previously been somewhat folded that she did not discern its...true form.

"I-...I was thinking of causing a distraction," she says, before realizing the whole implications that one sentence could mean. "A-and not by wearing these! Of course! I meant I was looking for something..."
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Her gazed was affixed at the clothes in her hands.
"Something...distractive and...probably heavy and-...uhm."

She hastily held the sultry garments behind her as she felt the gaze of several others fall onto her person, turning towards Nuru, who she did not know.

"Of course we're helping you! Everything for distr-ahh...friends!"
Not a distraction!

"I'll just be over there...searching."

Any kinds of items I could find that have any holy, or medicative value?

[4] "Suit yourself, I'll just be down here, waiting." Nuru says, coiling herself up in a corner before laying her human half down on the coils.  You briefly wonder if she intends to sleep before returning to your own tasks.

Looking for items of holy or medical value is pretty hard.  A lot of stuff has been collected already.  You go to the altar and find an amulet with a phoenix at it's center.  It was hanging there, which tells you it is some kind of prayer amulet.  You remember from the altars that were consumed in wild magic that Phoenixes were closely associated with Sareesa.  Something about her being reborn on Phoenix's wings after the assassin's blade killed her.  The amulet is made of flame-kissed steel, never growing cold or weak to the elements.  The phoenix glows orange and red in the darkness as though the amulet contained a living phoenix.  You put the amulet in your pocket and rejoin the group.

Kael shakes his head in amusement and decides to move on.

Check out that armoury and what's in it. Look for something nice, especially a good shield of some kind.

[5]  Mostly it's antique rifles and swords, mostly worthless for fighting but of value to a weapon collector.  You think that everyone from the party could probably carry three of the antiquities to sell at a later date, but continue searching for something more usable.  You find an Steel Shield that is warm to the touch.  You've heard of this before, it's made of Flame-Kissed Steel, a technique used exclusively by the Draconians.  The steel never grows cold and is immune to the elements.  You pick it up and take it with you, knowing that it will be useful in some way.

Aegnor shook his head in confusion mixed with.. More confusion. Deciding to drop the matter for Akari's benefit, he saw Kael enter the armoury.

"Ah, Kael. Let me keep the door open for you."
Ensure that the door doesnt close on kael.

[3]  You lean up against the door, Kael forces two antique pistols and an antique sword into your hands.  "What am I supposed to do with these?" you ask.  He shrugs at you before responding, "Sell them."  You discard your worthless Dirty Pistol and replace it with the antiques.  You're so heavily armed right now you feel a bit like Eldraness, a famous war hero among your people.  Kael then gives weapons to everyone in the party.  You look inside the Armory, there are plenty of weapons left but you don't think anybody could carry anymore.

Go upstairs and look for clues as to which door might contain Maria

[4] You head upstairs and decide to see if you can find any clues as to which room might be occupied by Maria.  All the doors are dark and no noise comes from any of them.  It seems like it is just some kind of guessing game at this point, you do make come up with a system of numbering the doors however.

((Trust me, Nuru is going to be just fine.  She's not really a combatant, she doesn't really want to fight anything.  Find her some clothes and get her somewhere safe and you'll have her thanks, which is really what you want as she opens up a pathway away from here and into the next Act, though there is still a lot of stuff to be done here so you'll probably want to stay around until you have more levels better gear and other stuff.  She could have died which would have forced you into another option to leave, which will still be open to you.  Nuru is ultimately just an option to get to the next Act.

Also, on a side-note I think that everybody has now gained something of real value from here.  Did we want to have collective group money bag or keep funds separate?  I'd go for the group money bag myself, since that keeps one person from dying and losing half of the groups money fund if they were singled out for some reason.))

Kael looked over his new shield happily as he walked over to Akari with it in hand.

"Hey. I found this, and it might be enchanted. Can ya figure out what kind of enchantment is on it for me?"

Have Akari take a good look at the shield to discover what enchantment it has on it, then head upstairs and start checking doors one by one with the others.

Akari thought about the dolls and their influence and looked back at Mordekhai with a tone of anxiety in her voice.
"No! No doll or any intrusive thought came upon me there. I was just thinking of...remember back at the airship? How we distracted Maria (or at least the pirates at a time)? Aegnor tested the weight of the antique sword, before realising what he was doing, and looking around. It didn't seem like anyone noticed, so that was a potentially embarassing encounter out of the way. Remembering old days would have to wait. Noticing that the naga, Neru still wasnt healed he have a short and unhappy sigh.

"Here. Allow me to patch you up a little, although I can't do much about the cold."

Heal Nuru.

Zealots and Demons, The Fall of a God, Turn 105: Ready for Action!

Zealots and Demons, The Fall of a God, Turn 105:  Ready for Action!

((I'd rather not leave any ally, NPC or not, sitting at such a low hp value.))

Heal Nuru then meditate for mana.

[6]  You get so absorbed in Akari's biology lesson that you can't really focus on the healing.  Aegnor has it well in hand luckily and you've learned a bit about Naga.

[4]  You distract Akari from her goal of education long enough for her to tell you that the shield's enchantment is one that absorbs damage from powerful attacks. (25% off attacks dealing 8 or more damage after multipliers)

"N-not at all, why do you-"
Akari thought about the dolls and their influence and looked back at Mordekhai with a tone of anxiety in her voice.
"No! No doll or any intrusive thought came upon me there. I was just thinking of...remember back at the airship? How we distracted Maria (or at least the pirates at a time)? "

School Mordekhai in my knowledge of Naga.

[4] You begin to explain Naga biology to Mordekhai.  It's actually quite interesting as given their large size and different make up it's quite unlike any other species you are familiar with.  They have three lungs (two where you would expect on a human then another large lung in the snake-half of the body), two hearts (again one in each half) two livers, though the one in the snake-half is so large it makes Naga essentially immune to natural occurring poisons as the poison will be filtered out and disposed of so quickly.  If it wasn't for the fact that Nagas required all those extra body parts to function they'd be incredibly difficult to kill.  Then again, you could say that about anything really.

Heal Nuru.

[5] [6x2=12 healed]  You heal Nuru skillfully.  She thanks you, but doesn't really do much else aside from laying on herself.  You briefly wonder how long she can survive away from heat, but realize from Akari's talk that she has enough body heat saved up to last at least a day outside in these temperatures.

((I was going to offer her my healing potion, which might be more sure than a spell?))

Go back down to the others, offer Nuru my potion if the others don't heal her first.

"We should try the doors upstairs one at a time, keeping them open too... There are six, at least there are at the moment..."

[N/A]  You watch Aegnor heal the Naga.

"Let's go upstairs and find this woman, no? There are six doors, and if what the naga says is correct, then we need to be very careful about going through them. We should take one at a time, with one person to hold the door fast open, two to stand watch outside, and the rest of us to go in. We should not let the doors close!"

Head upstairs and open the first door we come to, once my comrades are in position to help.

((Well... Should we try to get the NPC somewhere safe or finish the job first? Judging by our situation, getting the job done already seems the correct choice, though following V-Norrec's advice and tossing her some clothes in case it takes longer than expected might be good.))

"Yes. We spent enough of our time here already."

Stand by the door Tikan is going to open, prepared to protect her and attack any hostiles that appear.

((I think getting the job done is the best choice here, we can periodically check on the naga every 3 doors or so.))

Aegnor gave a small nod to Mordekhai's words, and a small shake to Akari's words.

"I thought a mage would probably understand more about this than me, but if the doors are the 'opening' to a different room, and closing them provides a different 'opening', then its probably wise to assume that there's some portal magic going on, breaking a door could ruin the magic, or it could attempt to do some physically impossible things. Even if it otherwise hampers our efforts, I'd personally prefer to be on the safe side of wild magic..."

Aegnor gave a small "Hmm.." to the end of that, and shook his head. "For all that I know, I've never really studied magic beyond the basic principles and topics that related towards holy magic, so I could be completely wrong in my assessment of these doors."

With that, Aegnor walked to the door that Tikan chose, preparing for some unholy horror to burst out of them the moment it was opened.

Get into a position that will allow for a first strike if something comes though the door.

I can't answer that question.  It all started after getting here we claimed rooms and then once we closed the doors the rooms changed.  Eventually we just opened all the doors and decided to keep it that way.  It worked for a time but then the doors started to close themselves with us inside.  We've been trying to survive since then.  I think I'm the last one left to be honest.  Even then it's only because I'm smart enough not to go near dolls that appeared and ooze more mana than a cow gives milk.  Not that this turn of events bothers me mind you.  It gives me a chance to go find my husband and our family, after watching her die in this place of course.
