((Could people worship ideals or concepts, like Clerics from Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 edition? There they can worship either gods, who come with premade spheres of influence, or "domains" or "ideals" such as Valor, Strength, Good, Magic and so on. Hextor, god of tyranny, is a deity with the domains of Destruction, Evil, Law and War, for example.))

"Any deity favoring an individual such as that woman and whose cult teaches their faithful to perform senseless murder  and terrorism is not worth my time. No matter whether their holy symbol is old or new, openly displaying their malevolence or not, so far evil seems to run deep into the essence of that god." Mordekhai is quick to answer, the slit of his helm just barely showing blue eyes unconsciously narrowing into a glare.

"So me playing the sacrifice isn't an option?" Akari somehow teased, thinking of back on the ship but several hours ago. "The symbols remind me of my...err, the shrines at my home. I found a book in them once. I wonder if this altar has anything in it, or is just a table?

"I'm sure there's a connection as to why it's in the dining room though. Blessing of the food?"

((There are so many overlapping domains and varying power levels at this point, I'm thinking it would just be gods.  Think of it as doctrinal differences.  There is a different god for every doctrine.))

The dining room is quite spacious.  The Altar is set into the wall.  There is one table on the other side of the room that is set with food (not that you trust any food that's been here for so long) silverware and plate.  Though unadorned the plates and table are of a high-quality.  The table is able to sit 16 people.  The chair at the head of the table is the only one that shows any kind of ornamentation.  There is a golden inset in the wood and it has a slightly higher back than the others.  At a guess that was the chair for the High Sister or leader of this particular group.

[Ochita]

Aegnor looked sadly at Mordekhai, face softening before nodding. "I would agree with you there.. Maybe there's something else that I can do with this altar.."

Think, is it possible for Aegnor to use the altar to try to call out to some god of the dead? Preferably in respects to leading the dead to rest.

"I would not be surprised if this altar happened to be connected to any of the disasters that happened in this building across the years in order to turn it into a haunted location." the crusader adds, staring at the altar with such fierce conviction it wouldn't be surprising if it burst into flames. "Any details on if there is residual energy inside? It reacted when I dsuted it off."

Stare daggers at the altar.

Kael quickly jerked back out of reach of the wooden women and shook his head, trying to clear it of the outside influence.

"Gah! Mind magics!"

Cast lesser heal on myself and be a meatshield for the more squishy members of the group by blocking the way of the wooden women.

[6]  You kneel down at the altar and pray trying to reach some god of the dead.  A few seconds later you feel feminine laughter inside your mind.  How twisted is the skein of fate that it brings you now to me?

Who is this, are you a god of the dead?

No, nothing so simple.  I am Sareesa Tavis, and this bizarre anomaly you are in has you interacting with me as I existed in the past.  I do hope you're up for the challenge, for your path isn't an easy one.

Why?  Why would you have your priestesses do this?  You should be dead.

I was... or rather will be.  The skein of fate is difficult to explain to those who have not seen it's myriad paths and how I am guiding it towards the best possible conclusion.  Suffice it to say that you face me as fate would have me be, I would have you destroy me, and end the cycle of fate so that I can continue my work.

Your work?  Why is it when you say that I feel as though you plot only to enslave and subordinate?

My work has ever been the same, the destruction of all demons.  This anomaly you find yourself in however intrigues me.  Past, present, future, they all collide into one reality where you are.  You are surrounded by a great amount of hatred.

Do you have anything useful to say or do, or will you just waste my time?

Such anger, I'd advise you to be careful of the ground on which you tread.  I shall grant you this favor though.

[Loot Roll of a Hidden Nature]  As soon as those words are done ringing in your ears you feel the mana of the altar enter into your body as you begin radiating a purifying light.  You feel your mind... expanding, your consciousness growing larger for a moment before being snapped back to reality.  You realize you've learned a new spell, but it also seems as though the altar gave you more mana than you can easily handle.  You briefly think that you should do your best to burn it off when the pure mana begins to leak from your eyes as tears.

A final word of advice to prove my intentions.  Many doors when opened cannot be closed.  Where you currently are, closing a door can have a great effect.

You get the sense that Sareesa may have learned a great deal about you but you remain unsure how much of it transferred over to her "current" self.  You briefly think that once out of here you would like nothing more to do with Wild Magic ever again.

(Spell Learned, Fatal Circle:  All enemies in a small area take 1d6+Intuition as Holy Damage.  If an enemy is killed it's soul extends the duration by 1 turn.  Lasts 1 turn.  Cost: 8 Mana)

[5]  You stare at the altar with hatred.  As Aegnor attempts to commune with a god of the dead, you feel something else taking hold of you.  It feels as though it's scouring your mind, your memories for something.  You close your mind off however, your years of training preparing you for this kind of magical assault.  At last you feel it pass, though you still feel a bit uneasy you notice the power that once stirred in the altar is now completely drained.  That much at least pleases you, though seeing Aegnor crying tears of pure mana renews your concern.

[Ochita]

Aegnor shuddered, mana tears dripping from his face as he turned to look at Akari, eyes mistily glowing a myrad of colours straining against the natural colour of his eyes. "A..Akari, you're capable of helping me, please.. This feeling is unbearable.." Aegnor then gave a couple of nasty coughs, mana still leaking from his eyes.

Akari wondered at the dining room. Exquisite yet still simple in several ways of design that the different ornaments and signs of opulence and wealth were made subtle.

"I feel that the altar is related to benevolence, yet there are differences outside it which made the place malevolent-"

"A..Akari, you're capable of helping me, please.. This feeling is unbearable.."

Akari eep'd and turned towards Aegnor. "Saturation!"

She hurried over and began to channel the excess mana. Either to herself or towards the surroundings around the altar.

"Benevolence? I beg to differ. That cursed altar just tried to mentally assault me, and look at what it has done to Aegnor!" Mordekhai says exasperatedly as the elf starts bleeding energy from the eyes.

Stay nearby to protect Aegnor and Akari while the foxfolk tries to help him.

Aegnor manages a nod with Akari's cry, and attempted to concentrate, to aid her in the channelling.

Help Akari channel the excess mana!

[4]  You can taste the bountiful mana that's springing up from within Aegnor.  Unfortunately you also realize the elven priest isn't as adept as you are at channeling that kind of energy for the betterment of... well whatever you wish.  [3] You fill your own mana reserves and then help Aegnor send the rest of the excess mana into the surrounding atmosphere.  It might make the surrounding wild magic stronger, but then again, they were already here trying to clean it up anyhow so it's doubtful it'll even be noticed.

((that's all the mini-turns now, go ahead and post some real actions))

Aegnor took a deep breath, feeling the excess mana be drawn away, along with the unbearable feeling of pain centered around his eyes. Sighing, he prepared to speak, only when another coughing fit struck him. He hadn't felt like this for a while, only when he had just started to be a priest to leave behind.. No, now wasn't the time to reminisce. Leaning on his staff for support, he brought himself back onto his feet, and stared at the altar.

"It appears that.. I was not successful. I accidentally called the god that owns the altar... We will have to talk about it later.. Let us get going."

Rejoin with Kael and Tikan, casting a lesser heal on myself.

[Tiruin]

"Well, it seems that's all there is to do here in the dining roo-Where is Tikan and Kael?" Akari said as she looked about. She was about to help up ol' Aegnor, but it must've seemed rude as he supported himself alone.
She still felt bad about that.

"Are you ok Mordekhai?"
