Upon hearing the foxwoman's warning, Mordekhai sidestepped, trying to avoid being in the path of her next magical attack.

Even if sidestepping, he would not allow the swashbucklers to survive for too long.
"Your dogged persistence endears me."

Swing the flail and crush the face of one of the swashbucklers or any still enemy able to keep combat.

Zealots and Demons, Turn 32:  Incompetent Pirates!

Quote from: Dwarmin
Action: Snipe attack on Pirate Rifleman 1!

[6] You whip your hair back and forth around and shoot towards the Rifleman.  While you look very bad ass, your lack of aiming causes you to miss completely and waste the bullet.

Quote from: Tiruin
Dragon Breath @ Swashbucklers after moving into a better position to not hit any allies! Then quip on their lack of a buckler!

[3] [7/2=4 damage] [Collateral Damage Roll: 2 = precise]   You run up to a moderately acceptable location and unleash a wave of flames on the Swashbuckler, managing to keep the damage from hitting any of your new friends.

Quote from: lawastooshort
Stay in cover unless I can flank attack an enemy already committed to attacking Mordekhai or if one of the others is threatened in melee.

[3] [4+1/2=3 damage]  You sneak up on the Swashbuckler and slash at his arm.  It doesn't cut ver deep but blood is visible for your efforts.

Quote from: Ochita
counter-attacking any who aim at me.

[6] What are you talking about, who would want to attack you?  You are so friendly!

Quote from: Caellath
Swing the flail and crush the face of one of the swashbucklers or any still enemy able to keep combat.

[4] [3+1=4 damage]  You attempt to smash the Swashbuckler's face, but end up smacking his arm.  Not quite what you wanted but not bad.

Enemies:
Buccaneer 1:  15/15 Health, 10/10 Fatigue.
[6]  The Buccaneer attempts to slash at Mordekhai but just falls short on every attempt.
Swashbuckler 1:  7/20 Health, 10/10 Energy.
[1]  Perhaps all the trauma is going to his head, but the Swashbuckler just stands, in daze.
Swashbuckler 2:  15/20 Health, 10/10 Energy.  Status:  Maimed, Can't fight.
[1]  This guy just sort of hangs around, not really doing anything.
Pirate Rifleman 1:  15/15 Health, 10/10 Fatigue.
[6] Tikan dives to the side as the bullet wizzes by, leaving not even so much as a scratch on her body.
Pirate Rifleman 2:  13/15 Health, 10/10 Fatigue.
[2] The Rifleman attempts to shoot at the party, he only hits air though.

A flash of light, a clasp of thunder. Then ringing in the halls.

Akari turned to check on the source, holding her staff at the ready. It came from one of those pirates, holding an elongated stick much like hers, but he was grasping it at the bottom, with his finger around one part.

Strange, how these people made staffs of their own. Perhaps it shot fire, too, like she did?

Terrify @ Pirate Rifleman 1!

"Good job and keep up." Mordekhai said before swinging his flail in a feint, attempting to hit the nearest enemy with an elbow to the throat instead.

Hit nearest living enemy with an elbow to the throat.

Zealots and Demons, Turn 33:  The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything

Quote from: Tiruin
Terrify @ Pirate Rifleman 1!

[6]  You begin to channel the spell, but you hold onto it too long and all the channeled energy backfires, focusing it back on yourself.  [1]  You cower in fear, unable to do anything else.

Quote from: Dwarmin
Action: Snipe a Rifleman! 3rd try!

[2]  You try to aim up a shot, but one of their bullets comes too close for your liking, and you duck back down.  You pop your head out again and they've all moved.  Fiddlesticks!

Quote from: Ochita
Thrust at swashbuckler 1!

[1]  You try to thrust at the swashbuckler with your staff, however, the previously unmentioned buckler comes into play and blocks your staff.  You're almost one-hundred percent certain metal beats wood.

Quote from: lawastooshort
thrust swashbuckler 1

[4] ([3]+[1]+1=5 damage]  You manage to sever the vital jugular vein in the pirate's neck, thanks to the healer's distraction.  Now, to deal with those guns.

Quote from: Caellath
Hit nearest living enemy with an elbow to the throat.

[3] ([6]+1/2=4 damage) You smash the Bucaneer who started this whole mess in the face with your elbow.  He looks, surprised, not really hurt though.

Enemies:
Buccaneer 1:  11/15 Health, 10/10 Fatigue.
Swashbuckler 1:  Dead at the beginning of next turn.
Swashbuckler 2:  15/20 Health, 10/10 Energy.  Status:  Maimed, Can't fight.
Pirate Rifleman 1:  Dead
Pirate Rifleman 2:  Dead

Collective Pirate Rolls:  [Terrible] ([2] [1] [2] [1] [6])  The pirates try to hit the mostly stationary targets in the same hallway with them, however, the rifleman are apparently confused and [insta-death] shoot each other in the face from gross incompetence.  How were these guys even able to get on the ship?

((Oh yeah, and shields wore off, so I'm sure now they'll actually hit something *eyeroll*))

Vigor

Nepthym reluctantly holstered her pistol. It must have been awhile since she used a firearm...but with most of them down, why waste a bullet?

Death. Death. Death.

Nothing but fields of the dead and dying. Deep cuts and gashes along their bodies. They seemed vaguely human, now, after what had just occurred. The smell of fresh blood spoiled the natural air of the plains.

Lyri was standing at the middle of it all, dressed in white fabric. Her hands were wet with the crimson hue of death. As she surveyed the place, she noted her hands were trembling, including a deep sense of fear and guilt well up inside her.

It felt like it would kill her soon enough.

The bodies around her, they seemed vaguely familiar. Other than their facial expressions, she couldn't help but feel like they were once her kin and clan.

This was a nightmare. It must be!

Mordekhai was slightly disappointed at his overall performance. Maybe his old man should have taught him better...He had left too early, and the young man still needed some more time before being flung into the whirlwind of steel and fire he had been through. Still, he would try to do his best - as he was told to. So far, he had been able to stay alive.

Unwavering faith, strong will. Even if his combat abilities still lacked, the crusader still fought.

Try to snap the Buccaneer's neck.

Zealots and Demons, Turn 34:  Mordekhai the Romantic

Quote from: Dwarmin
Action: Break cover and charge! Stabslashkill Buccaneer 1

[3] [2+2/2=2 damage]  You weakly and half-heartedly stab at the Buccaneer.  You sigh deeply inside, wishing you were shooting him with extreme prejudice instead.

Quote from: Tiruin
Regain composure. If performed, attack the nearest enemy-looking object nearby!

[2]  You begin crying in the corner, hands over your head as if trying to protect yourself from some unseen assailant.

Quote from: lawastooshort
Attack Buccaneer 1!

[2] You attempt to attack the Buccaneer, you're too timid and afraid of injury though to really get in close and do any damage.

Quote from: Caellath
Try to snap the Buccaneer's neck.

[2] You seem distant, as if your mind is elsewhere.  You think back to your time in training, how much simpler things then seemed.  You vaguely remember an old flame of yours, fiery and independent.  She reminds you a lot of 'Jacelyna'.  You remember, with a small amount of sorrow, how she left the small town where you grew up to go become a Priestess of some god or goddess.  It seemed to fit her, still a part of you wishes things would have worked out better between you.  Your mind snaps back to attention after briefly remembering a kiss you shared, just in time to catch the Buccaneer's Cutlass with your own shield.

Quote from: Ochita A.I.
Attack things and/or stand around.

[3] [2+1/2=2 damage]  You smack the Buccaneer in the back of the knee with your staff.  it's more annoying than damaging.

Enemies:
Buccaneer 1: 7/15 Health, 10/10 Fatigue.
[6]  Between all the people surrounding him the Buccaneer can't decide on any particular one to fight and just swings wildly, succeeding in hitting nobody at all.
Swashbuckler 2:  15/20 Health, 10/10 Energy.  Status:  Maimed, Can't fight.
[5]  The Swashbuckler begins slowly crawling away.  [1]  He scoots himself right next to the Kitsune and comforts her... You are not entirely sure why.

[...]I don't really care..))
((D:

That was fuuuun~!))

Akari made up her mind, and moved. The sea of bodies around her felt like climbing a mountain of soft, squishy piles of jelly. Red jelly.

The stench was unbearable, and the feeling of dread and guilt grew deeper. She couldn't look up, in fear of seeing how much more was ahead, but only trudged on, closing her eyes from mistaking the next body for someone she knew.

Crick-crack, crick-crack. The unmistakable sounds of crunching bone echoed behind her, and a different scent followed. The Kitsune was terrified -- the first time it ever felt fear as great as this, as if someone was treading on her grave. Turning slowly, her gaze met with a dark shape: it was a mass of shadow, vaguely resembling a large black dog with the darker parts forming a nebulous body. What should've been the wisps of the shadow became like matted fur, slowly forming a canine head with glowing red eyes.

It was a Barghest -- a black hound said to foretell the bringer of death; whether to signify the onlooker's demise, or that of those who have died is unsure. None of it mattered, though. The entity moved towards Akari slowly at first, then faster and faster, all the while keeping it's gaze locked with her own. She couldn't break free.

The only thing she could do, is cry. Cry for the dreams lost throughout her life, cry for the unknown dead by her side, cry for her own failure as a kitsune...

And cry, in the face of death.

Akari collapsed into a fetal position, awaiting the inevitable as she covered her face. It was to be shameful to shift into a fox and bound away, and even then she couldn't do such.

The seconds passed, and Akari felt her tears subside, her fear replaced by curiosity as to why she could still hear her own heart pounding. Looking up, the entity was still there, staring at her from about a foot away. She could make every distinct feature out -- from the head to the paw.

It spoke. A language not known to her captured her mind as she tried to comprehend the situation. The scene shifted from the dead and dying, to the cathedral where she was nearly sacrificed. The place was the same, albeit now with the presence of the Barghest and she. The appearance of her heroes came once more in slow motion, savoring every movement as they struck down those who wished her harm.

She didn't feel any trepidation; and even wanted to touch the dog and thank it for not killing her, but before anything could happen, the scene returned to the current time. Four last words were heard until the Barghest, and all other semblance of what she saw, became reality once more.

"You are not alone."

To make matters stranger, she smelled wine and blood nearby, and saw one of the pirates comforting her. Somehow, instead of killing him on-sight, a sense of compassion overwhelmed any desire to show everyone else that this man had a brain.

Humanity was a strange race, indeed.[/i]

"Do not hurt him!"

Guard Swashbuckler 2, disarm him. If possible, examine the outfit and items on his person.

((That was an awesome situation Norrec.))
